Anthony got out of the car and was walking with Rose and Sami.

Sami reached the booth and paid for her ticket, holding it up cheerfully.
"So what's your favorite animal, Tony?" She quipped, smiling.

"Please don't call me that" Anthony said. He didn't want to be called the same name as the guy who was supposed to whack Rose.
"My favourite animal is the snake" Anthony said.

Sami shrugged apologetically and then pulled a face.
"A snake?" She repeated disbelievingly. "Why a snake?"

Beans went across the stone walkway, looking out in the opposite enclosure to see many, many fish of very large sizes. Huge sizes - goldfish and betas almost bigger than a ten-year-old child.
A vending machine stood nearby. Inside was food specifically for the gargantuan fish. Smiling, Beans paid the two dollars for a small bag of some, then began spreading it among the water many feet below.
The fish swarmed eagerly, snapping up the food with increasing intensity. Separated only by iron bars, this pool and the previous one, containing crocodiles, shared the same water source.
Beans was standing on a bridge that rested between the two enclosures - it was wide enough, but the railing was specifically high on both sides.
It was getting chillier again. Beans shivered, rubbing his arms together, trying to stave off the cold.
What was New York City without a little chill?

Sami nodded cheerfully.
"You got it!" She replied, flapping her ticket excitedly. "C'mon! Let's hurry and go inside!"

Anthony got his ticket. His bad arm was in a sling.
"Hang on! It's hard getting money out with just one able arm" he said.

Over past the pool, since he was looking from the height of a bridge, Beans could see a cage full of exotic birds. It was a large greenhouse-type building, the name of which eluded Beans. He wanted to say, 'terrarium,' but he wasn't sure.
Inside were all types of avian. Parrots, parakeets, canaries, cockatoos, cockatiels, finches, and some variant of owl, were only a few of the many inhabitants. A group of children, wide-eyed no doubt, were pressed up against the glass, peering inside with an air of curiosity and wonder.
Beans sighed. The world they knew as Earth held such beauty, if only humans didn't wreck everything with their unnatural actions. Humans were the only animal - yes, an animal - that completely wrecked the ecosystems of the planet. They expended resources, destroyed life, and soon enough, in a futuristic world that would be all too real, Earth would become barren and inhospitable to life. Beans knew it was being rotten, but he was glad that he would be long dead before that ever happened.
If aliens didn't take over the world first, that is.

Sami blinked at Rose as they waited in line to get in, the two women brushing shoulders.
"Where would he be?" She asked her.
