Because if he can't concentrate then it makes things harder since he's usually doing stuff with me and effectively controls half the party since we usually go with AI heroes to fill the rest.

They're called Heroes in the game.
NPCs are the guys in towns like Merchant, Rune Trader, etc.

They're all NPCs. Adventurers only count when theres an actual player behind the character.

I've recently discovered just how shitty the Hero AI really is.
If you pit nothing but Heroes against mobs, the Mob AI will almost always win.
It'd be like being the commander of the inferior side of a war, where you are the sole competent force they have.

That reminds me of the AI in Europa Barbarorum.
If you're not leading the battles yourself, the AI always ******** you over.
Edit: On second thought, I think that applies to just aout every Game.

There was another game that had it bad. I think it was Medieval: Total War.
If you didn't manually control your units in a battle and just had it do an auto-battle skip, it'd almost always have you lose unless you had a HUGE advantage over your enemy.

EB is a mod of Rome: Total War. Made by the same company, its not a stretch to see how the AI problem could be connected.

Or like in EaW:FoC, where the computer launches a fleet of 300 ships, and you can win with less than a full assortment of 25 of your own...
