i'm in the same boat as Kyo, and I know Jubei had done his time with Oblivion as well (although Jube and I play the console version. 360 for him, ps3 for me.). Jube's put more time in, whereas i've only invested about 40 hours myself.
on that note, i can't disagree with yoda on the videogames tip. final fantasy alone has claimed more than 500 hours of my life, another 10 hours each on the devil may cry series and countless others on the wide variety of games i've played over the years. i shudder to think of what could have happened if i had invested that much time learning the guitar. or the piano. hell, i'd settle for the harmonica at this point (i swear, i will sock the next person who confuses the song "love me do" with the "sesame street" opening theme. but i digress.). the point is the only plus to having the videogame jones is an increase in hand-eye coordination. other than that, it is a colossal waste of time considering you come away with nothing to show for it. but i mean, isn't that the point of having a hobby? an escape from the everyday mundane? i spend hours on gaia sometimes too and although i have a greater appreciation for good grammar and entertaining stories, i don't have the inclination to take advantage of all this "practice" i'm getting and translate it into a literary work. i've done well enough in high school english that i could have pursued it in college, maybe creative writing or something. i've done a lot of things in my life that some folks might consider a waste of my youth. maybe in the future, i'll look back at all my years and would agree with those folks. but to me, videogames, gaia and all the other things i do in my youth are all taken in stride. most of the things i do in my youth are things i can't do anymore when i get older and acquire more responsibilities. every generation has a different definition of "being young". i'm sure when you were younger, some of the things you did were considered the height of folly by the older generation as well. "boys will be boys" is redefined in every generation. maybe when i'm older and ranting about how the teenagers are spending their afternoons high off of pixie dust or something, some young buck will come back with a similar rant to this. it's inevitable. it's not like i disagree, but i suppose there are worse things out there that teenagers can fill up their time with than riding through Bruma on the priorie paint horse.

I like games. That's the only reason I play. Some of the story lines are thrilling to see unfold. I am also going to write a fanfiction soon if I ever get finished with the "four page paper, then size page paper, then another four paged paper" and so on and so forth thing in college.

And for the record: I did not know of fast travelling, I did not read the manual. I walked from the imperial city, to weynon priory, to Kvatch, to Anvil, then back to Weynon Priory, and several times between there and the Imperial city, then to the Inn of Ill Omens and back to the city before I was told of a little thing called fast travelling.

I ah..heh heh..left the horse right outside of Weynon Priory. I said "We don' need no stinkin' horses!" Well. It turns out I did need a stinkin' horse. I am a Warrior in the arena, I closed an Oblivion gate and found an ascendant stone that gave 25 damage to health on a weapon, so I enchanted my dwarven bow with it. It Pwnd dem all!

I've seen a few. The Deadra chased me off because I was fresh out of my purchase of the Benirus or whatever mansion and just killed the Lich for the quest. Left me with 100 gold and sealing two Oblivion gates left me with very little arrows.

Star Karilesi boys.... will be... nerds. of course. i think you'd have to be a nerd of some degree to be in gaia as long as i have... hahah. if i gained 70 pounds and stopped bathing, then i'll be otaku. xp Kyohaku Taiyouken I've seen a few. The Deadra chased me off because I was fresh out of my purchase of the Benirus or whatever mansion and just killed the Lich for the quest. Left me with 100 gold and sealing two Oblivion gates left me with very little arrows. nice! i've been meaning to get that mansion. i have a place in bruma, fully furnished. i'm in-between missions right now and i think i'm about to go exploring next time i turn it on.

I haven't been playing, focusing on my english research paper and thinking about this fanfiction I am considering writing.
Star: I've gone one better. Sometimes on the weekends I hang out at a comicbook store with my friends. The name of the store is Geeks.

hahah, yeah, May is a busy month for me. the social calendar's actually full this month, which should lower my "nerd rating" in Star's eyes. of course i'll be going to an anime convention (and attend a gaia panel) at the end of the month, which should bring my nerd rating back up a bit. BUT, i am sandwiching that convention with a sake festival and a big party that my sister is throwing (she and two friends rented out a club for a night, so hopefully i'll have the bouncers this time to help me regulate), so my nerd rating should go down another notch. that should explain the lack of missions/quests i'm doing in oblivion this month.
anyway, back to something star wars-related, for those who didn't watch GL on conan last week, he talked about setting up an animated tv series. i think it'll be more about what happens between episodes III and IV, although i'd like to point out that they're missing out on the opportunity to have a potentially hit series about the new jedi temple. with mark hamill doing mostly-voice work these days, it'll be a great time to reach him about reprising his role as Luke. this time as the last remaining jedi master trying to set up a new jedi academy. i'd very much like to see that happen, but i wouldn't hold it against the powers-that-be if they went ahead with the animated one instead. i just need my friggin' star wars fix! gonk

Listener of the dark brotherhood, Arch Mage of the Mages Guild, Grey Fox of the Thieves Guild.
as for the whole waste of time thing goes... if playing games is a waste of time then so is reading books, it provides the same service, just takes a little longer as you have to do it yourself, rather than read that its happened.
As for boys will be nerds, its not nerding, its geeking. theres a difference.
