That's good to hear, that there are no lasting effects. Hopefully whatever is going on won't be for much longer. I wasn't the biggest fan of the 90s the first time around.

Hey, ahh . . . Ted? I got a situation concerning the Fanfic line. Some of the guys are getting all pissy and the buzz is there's going to be a lawsuit.
Well, yeah. They sell great, and I THINK I can unload what I've got before the paperwork comes down. But y'know. I don't want to get involved if you guys get sued over the books, you know? So I think I'm going to have to pass on future stuff until I know EXACTLY what's going on with these guys.
Yeah, I'll let you know. Yeah, I think it's a shame, too. I actually read one of them, and they're funny. Inh a ridiculous sort of way.

We, the Undersigned, do hereby serve notice that we object to the distribution of materials utilizing our likeness in an illegal manner. As sole or joint holders of the copyrights of our identities, We do not authorize use of those identities for the distribution of the materials described below.
The materials in question are and include:
-Merchandise not bearing copyright material legitimately gained from our respective estates
-Literature of an unauthorized nature not covered under the confines of the laws protecting parody
-Foodstuffs and other consumables utilizing trademarked names to sell said foodstuffs and other consumables
All items bearing the abovementioned copyright infractions should be removed from sale shelves immediately. Any and all future attempts to sell merchandise with illegal use of the likenesses of the undersigned will be subject to litigation and criminal investigation. We thank you for your expediency and attention to this matter.

You know... One could very legitimately argue that these fan fiction are intentionally ridiculous. I mean, it's not a far stretch. Could it be proven that their obvious camp was intentional, they would be very clearly protected under Copyright Laws regarding parody... Should one care enough to pursue this endeavor, of course.
