It certainly was unlike any dinner that Miyuki had been too, but it hadn't been as formal as she had secretly feared. She giggled along with the others over Amalirahc's antics. Though it sort of made her sad that Senka wasn't allowed (but she was a cat), she hoped that Senka was getting good food and attention wherever she was taking her meal.
And the food was excellent, she got to eat her fill of meat and then settle her sweet tooth with fruit.

As the food disappeared more and more slowly, a few more musicians appeared on the stage, and they began to play a wider assortment of music: some a bit faster, some a bit slower, some calm, some more exciting.
Aethos was the first to take initiative, and he leaned over to murmur in Alassëa's ear. A light blush sprinkled her cheeks, but she nodded, and he took her hand and led her out onto the dance floor and began to dance with her. Soon, others were following them, among them the king and queen, and Halmir and Arthael.
Earendil asked Shiro to watch over Andarien (who had fallen asleep already), then rose to his feet and turned to Lin, holding one hand out to her.
"May I have the honour of this dance?" he asked her, his eyes sparkling.

Lin smiled from ear to ear before taking Earendil's hand, "I would love that."
Dancing with a person was something she had only done less than a handful of times, but to her it was always fun when she did so with Earendil.
Miyuki though, didn't know much about dancing. At least, not the kind of dancing the adults were doing and besides that required someone to dance with!

Earendil took Lin's hand and swept her out onto the dance floor, holding her close as they moved to the music.
Across the room, Jess and Jasta's mother rose to her feet. She took Jeremiah's arm, but rather than the two of them moving out onto the dance floor like the other couples, they skirted around the edge of it, towards where the children were sitting. The tanner helped his wife into Earendil's vacated chair, then turned and held one hand out to his daughter.
"Shall we dance?" he asked her, his blue eyes twinkling.
Jasta grinned up at him. "I'd love to," she said in a mock princess voice. She giggled as her father tugged her to her feet.
"Take it easy with her, Jeremiah," Jacinthe called out to the two as they headed out onto the floor.
Jeremiah smiled at his wife. He knew.
Jacinthe smiled tiredly at the two, then turned her attention to the other children who were still sitting down.
"So how are you all enjoying the evening so far?" she asked them warmly. "I hope Jess and Jasta are behaving themselves."
"Mama!" Jess blushed hotly, embarrassed.

Miyuki knew that his mother was just teasing and giggled a bit.
"It's been so much fun!"

Jacinthe giggled softly. "I'm glad of that. Have you been to many banquets like this one, Miyuki? Jess tells me that you've been to many places, traveling with your parents."
Jess decided that he would get out of there before his mother could embarrass him too much further while he was still present. He held a hand out to River. "Dance with me?" he asked her, less shyly than he would have asked if he hadn't been so eager to get away from his mother.
River giggled. "Of course."
She took his hand and the two of them headed out on the dance floor with the others.

Miyuki thought about it, "Yes, but not like this one."
She had been to quite a few during her long stay in Amon Darthir, but they didn't have musicians or dancing like here. She wondered why that was, but then again it wasn't this formal neither.

"Oh?" Jacinthe tilted her head curiously. "Where were you? How were they different?"
She was curious. She had traveled as a child, and she still had the itch from time to time. And since she couldn't really go anywhere, she liked to hear about different places.

"I spent a few years in Amon Darthir, that's an island nation," Miyuki explained.
She explained it like a grown up, but that was partly because she had to write reports about wherever she went.
"And we had banquets, but there were no musicians, but it was fun just talking to everyone. I guess that celebration in Nauros, another island we visited for a short while had a banquet since it was a celebration of someone getting their Mark."
She paused and pointed to her arm.
"When you do something really good deed or married you get a mark on your shoulder and that mark is the spirit animal of your family, or the person you married. Well, their families all have spirit animals that they can summon. It's kind of hard to explain really."
She thought about it a bit more.
"And we were also in the Southland but only for a really small while, we're going to have a good tour of it later," Miyuki nodded.

Jacinthe nodded thoughtfully, then looked around at the others who were in the hall. "Are any of these people from those places?" she asked. "Some of them look like they aren't from the Four Lands."
She was thinking especially of Kelirahc, Amalirahc, Alena and Aethos - not that she knew any of their names.

Miyuki looked up and pointed to Kelirahc, "Kelirahc is from Nauros, he's Amalirahc's daddy though actually Amalirahc is like me. He doesn't really have a place he comes from, like..."
She tried to find the right words for it.
"We tell people that's partly where we come from, but we don't live where we came from and never have."
Like she said she came from Gaia, but she didn't think Gaia anymore her home than anywhere else.
"And Alena and Aethos are from Amon Darthir, and Luk is from Caras Galadhon."

Jacinthe blinked in surprise. "Caras Galadhon? You hadn't mentioned that place. Where is that? For that matter, where are any of these places?"
Stationary as she was, she was a traveler at heart, and had been since she had been a child.

"It's a continent really far away, you need a ship to get to any of these places."
In other words, it wasn't like Miyuki could just tell Jacinthe where they all were because they were really far away without any markers and really not many other people had been there.
"I didn't mention it because we were there for only a few hours. We had to stop there because we were stopped by the people there who wanted to know why we were sailing to and from Amon Darthir."
Miyuki didn't quite know why they had to know seeing as she was much younger back then, but she strongly suspected it had something to do with the last ruler of Amon Darthir.
"But mommy and ada said we're going to visit there to learn everything about it someday."

Jacinthe smiled dreamily. "It sounds wonderful. I think it would be fun to travel like that. But we could not do so, Jeremiah has too many responsibilities here."
Her tone was wistful, though.
Suddenly, the door to the hall opened, and a lone figure stood in the doorway. Iorlas was the first to notice the woman standing there. Then again, most of the other people there would probably think it was her at first glance.
Ioreth had crashed the party. So to speak.
Jacinthe blinked at the woman in the doorway. "Wasn't she ... over there?" she asked, looking over at where Iorlas and Daeron had been sitting. The two were still sitting there, and Iorlas looked somewhat panicked. Jacinthe blinked and looked back at Ioreth, confused.

Miyuki frowned, why did she have to show up. Even though Miyuki was really worried about Ioreth (afraid really) she was also really annoyed. Everything was going so well.
Well that and a bit angry because she thought that perhaps Ioreth was here because she was upset that Iorlas was now really happy.
