My question is, wouldn't it be easier if the negative affinity would be outright hate? the real problem is setting up charisma properly so the character automatically buys negatives when buying positives.
the other problem is the fact that its a 6 point system and the "bonus" version doesn't work until points 4-6.
so if I wanted the characters to buy "fire affinity" up to 6 (max)
in retrospect, fire affinity might have two approaches:
Like Something
4. fire affinity +1
5. fire affinity +2
6. fire affinity +3
Hate Something
1. ice affinity -1
2. ice affinity -2
3. ice affinity -3
the problem with this is the conversation between the Battle Mage and the Druid...
Mage: "so yeah, you use ice storms? Me too. I love that stuff... How do you feel about fire?"
Druid: "Oh definitely, flame blades, walls of fire, storms, it's all good"
When this happens, you have this "mediator" guy who likes two things that are normally opposed, like A
Concordia Oppositorum where opposites are resolved or united. The problem is programming mediator guy with the "element = automatic opposite element". I think it's probably better to not assume element A = opposite Element Z.
