 "You can't exactly condemn one person for being what they are when the version of you today is vastly different from what you were before... all this," Lila waved her hand in a circle in the air above her. "I'm sure the people who knew me back then would be shocked to see who I have become."
"But you're nothing like-" started Maggie.
"No, I am exactly like him!" retorted Lila, straightening up and pointing a finger at her. "I stand my ground on what I believe in and I will do anything I can to protect them from harm. If others try to get in my way, I am unafraid to do what it takes to prevent it."
Maggie only glared in response.
"The only reason why you don't see how much we're alike is because you are so focused on what you remember of your past. Of that one little incident that changed your world forever." Lila shook her head. "I'm not saying what he did was right. I truly am sorry for your loss. But we've all done terrible things. We're all a villain in someone's story. Just don't forget to look beyond the obvious to see why some are described more in that direction than others."

The woman next to her chuckled as she turned back towards the bar, leaning over to speak into her ear. "If I didn't know better, I'd say you caught that cutie's eye."
"Yeah?" she said, glancing over at the woman. "Well, I'm sure he's nothing special like all of the others who tried flirting with me."
The woman nodded in acknowledgement. "True. There's some losers out there. But this one? Hmm... he seems real special."
She sighed. "Fine. Which one?"
"The one in the cowboy hat?"
Turning around, she glanced around until her eyes settled on the only guy wearing a cowboy in the joint. Despite standing out with this accessory, he seemed to fit right in at the same time. She took in his appearance, finding herself being drawn to each bit that stood out. While his slim build was hidden under a brown leather jacket, she could tell there was muscles hidden underneath - not too much but enough to know he earned them outside of a gym. She also appreciated that he seemed tall and would still be taller than her if she wore her high heels.
"See, what did I tell you?" said the woman, chuckling.
Her eyes finally met up with the guy's, causing a wide mischievous smile to appear. Well, there was no chance of pretending she wasn't looking now.
"Looks can be deceiving..." she replied. "But you might be right. This one might be a rare gem."

"So, were you ever going to come over and say 'Hi'? Or were you just going to keep teasing me by looking beautiful standing over here?"
She turned in surprise hearing the whiskey-toned voice next to her, finding her eyes meeting the gaze of the cowboy hat-donned guy smiling down at her. Never did she imagine that brown eyes would ever steal her breath away but here she was trying to keep her composure.
"Well, aren't you the flatterer," she replied.
"I saw your friend mention me to you. So, you can't pretend you don't know I saw you."
"Friend?" she inquired in confusion. "Oh! You mean that woman that was standing here awhile ago. She's not my friend. She was just some random gal who decided I was her best friend for the night."
He chuckled and nodded.
"Anything I can get you?" asked the bartender, stopping in front of them seeing the guy now standing at the bar.
"I'll grab another one of those beers," replied the guy. He looked over at her. "Anything for you, sweetheart?"
"I'm good," she replied, raising her half full glass.
"Coming right up," said the bartender.
"Anyway..." said the guy. "Where were we?"
"Pretty sure you were flirting with me."
"Yeah?" he said, smirking. "And how's it going? How are my chances?"
"You are charming. In a sweet way," she said. "So, I'll give you that. You're ahead much further than any other guy who's trying to hook up with me."
"Well, that's something, I suppose."

"Who's that? Can't say I've her around here before."
"Hmm?" asked his friend, turning to follow his friend's gaze spotting the dark blond haired woman in the distance. "Oh. That's the new girl in town. She's just in the area for a couple weeks apparently."
"Oh? What brings her here?"
"Part work, part vacation."
"Work?"
"Apparently she's some writer. Newspaper, blog... I don't remember now."
"Sounds like some Hallmark movie. What is she going to be writing about? The charm of our little small town and how we need to hold onto it while still moving forward into the modern times?" He huffed out a chuckle.
"Something like that but not so... well... Hallmark-y. She's apparently writing about the hidden gems that are still going strong despite modern culture dominating the surrounding area."
"Still sounds like a Hallmark plot."
His friend laughed. "Better be careful, tough guy. You might just end up being the main romance lead."
"Are you kidding me?" he said. "She looks like she could be half my age!"
His friend raised his hands. "Love knows no age when it's true. Plus age gap romances seems to be all the rage these days. Just ask BookTok and Bookstagram... and all of those other Book social media trends."

Well... I guess there won't be a livestream of today's church service. neutral They didn't even post a copy of their bulletin either. So... that's weird.

Oh well. It allows me more time to work on listening to the various podcasts I've got. Hoping to finish/sort through ones I want to keep actively listening to and ones were fun for one episode.

I wish I could put both headphones on, so I could just focus on the podcasts I'm working through... but alas I have to have one of them off, so I can hear if my co-workers try reaching me about anything. xp

At least I can adjust the speed while I'm listening, so some of the slower paced podcasts I can get through quicker.

First it was a resident rambling about random stuff. And now I'm having to deal with another resident playing his harmonica. *sighs* So hard to focus on what I'm listening to.
