Got a job! Same job I had, but different company, better pay and better benefits. As much as I am not looking forward to getting reacquainted with my alarm clock, it feels good to have some direction again.

It's official. I'm sitting in the middle of the Blizzard of 2010.
Southern parts of Virginia have about 20 inches. When you reach Northern Virginia it's 30 inches of snow. (Where I am. Whoo!) Western parts of Maryland have about 40 inches of snow.
It's not supposed to stop until late this evening and it's picking up in speed. The flakes are growing larger as the day progresses. They're predicting it to stop this evening though earlier it wasn't forecasted to stop until Sunday.
They're saying that it'll possibly take until mid next week to actually make it onto the roads safely.

I'm going to recommend that everyone get the hell out Dodge every once in a while, even for just a couple days. It doesn't matter if you're going somewhere warmer, nicer, friendlier, whatever. Just. Get. Out. It is such an amazing restorative for the soul. Just take a day or two off here and there.
Somehow, the snow doesn't bother me, the cold doesn't bother me, the petty little annoyances throughout the day don't bother me. I don't know how long this will last, but it's great for the moment.

we were supposed to get 2-5 inches. We got barely 2 and it's melting. More snow expected late Sunday/Monday. I hope we get a REAL snowstorm this time.

Heather (aka Snow White, Lois Lane, et al) contacted me via AIM just now. She's in the hospital getting ready for emergency surgery.
SashaGaia: guess where I am?

SashaGaia: i have a morphine drip

SashaGaia: hospital
MissLupinthe3rd: What happened?
SashaGaia: I've been in 2 ER's today :/
MissLupinthe3rd: are you all right?
SashaGaia: they're taking my ovary tomorrow
SashaGaia: and I can't access Gaia and I'm about to cry
MissLupinthe3rd: You went to the emergancy room?
SashaGaia: because I can't get in touch with anyone on there. this stupid interwebs..
SashaGaia: yah.. Last night/this morning at 2am, Brian was reading Peter and max to me and my stomach started hurting
SashaGaia: and then that weird side thing started hurting.. a lot
SashaGaia: so I took midol and went in the shower and it didn't help. All kinds of sounds were coming out of me, let me tell you
SashaGaia: so.. mom takes us to the crappy hospital because it's closer and I'm literally in agony
SashaGaia: so.. they poke at me, give me some crap that makes me loopy as hell and basically shoves me out "doctor doesn't think it's a serious emergency. here's a prescrip for vicodin, make an appt for an ultrasound when you can"
SashaGaia: so we get home at 6am and I'm hurting but I fall asleep because of the stuff they shot me up with. I wake up at 930a and I'm hurting so much
MissLupinthe3rd: those dumb ********: and I realize that something is really wrong and I don't think that popping vicodin is the answer
SashaGaia: so I call mom and wake her up.. again and tell me to drive farther to the better hospital
SashaGaia: I've been there since 10a and I just got in my room an hour ago
MissLupinthe3rd: Oh god, it sounds like the worst day of your life
SashaGaia: oh and I'm not done
SashaGaia: so.. I'm laying around in the 2nd ER in 24 hours and im laying there crying and making noises while people ignore me
SashaGaia: they give me morphine which drops it from a 10 on the pain scale to maybe a 6 or 7..
SashaGaia: and my blood pressure was like 190 over some such thing..
SashaGaia: because omg it hurt so much
SashaGaia: and then they finally do a CT scam
SashaGaia: *scan
SashaGaia: and the results from that were of course.. GINORMOUS cyst on left ovary
SashaGaia: I'd been telling them that all day and they kept saying 'you mean, your stomach?"
SashaGaia: GAH
SashaGaia: soo.. it's 18cm
SashaGaia: so they're taking the ovary
MissLupinthe3rd: jesus christ
SashaGaia: which yeah, I cried my eyes out because brian went home to get the laptop and PJ's for me and I was there alone when I met the gyno
SashaGaia: and she was talking to me about the miscarriage, I'm running on 3 hours of sleep and I'm just..
SashaGaia: she's super nice though
SashaGaia: she said "you can have babies!"
SashaGaia: "the other one is all you need!"
SashaGaia: she also said she'd try to save the left ovary but.. if it's over 5cm, it usually means the ovary is sick
SashaGaia: everyone here is sort of appalled by my stories of the first ER visist
MissLupinthe3rd: How long are you going to be laid up in there?
SashaGaia: they actually told me..t he first ER "well, we're not calling in someone to do an ultrasound at 5am on a Sunday"
SashaGaia: 3 days
SashaGaia: ish
SashaGaia: surgery SHOULD be late tomorrow like 430-5
SashaGaia: and then 2 or so days after that because they have to do a real surgery, not a lap
MissLupinthe3rd: And they let you be on the internet?
SashaGaia: all I wanted to do was jum on gaia and post to take my mind off stuff and gaia's blocked.. You have no idea how that upset me
SashaGaia: yeah,. I'm in my room now
SashaGaia: wireless interwebs
MissLupinthe3rd: but Gaia is blocked...how weird is that

SashaGaia: I thought there was a way that school kids got around that. i'll have to google it
SashaGaia: but man, I am so freaked
SashaGaia: and I hurt
SashaGaia: and the gyno was older, a little chubby and super sweet. I like her a lot.
