Kaya nodded, taking one of Luke's hands in hers and squeezing it. Everything was set up for the birth, including a shaman from her own village. But she still had a few jitters from her dreams.
Chloe looked up at Lute and smiled. "Alright then. Go ahead," she said, putting down her violin and ersting her hand on her stomach.
Razz walked over to where Yumi was sitting and knelt in front of her. "Of course we will, Yumi. Maybe slightly dysfunctional, but who isn't in this castle?"

Luke smiled and kissed her hand. In a matter of days, they'd be taking care of the next branch on his family line. And who knows what their other form would look like.
Lute smiled and pulled a harp over next to Chloe. He sat down on the stool and leaned the instrument and began to play for his wife.
Yumi smiled and nodded. "You're right. We'll do fine."

On the day of Kaya's due date, she woke up feeling no different. It wasn't until she'd gotten up that she felt the first pains.
Hours later, down in the medical wing of the castle, the shaman was keeping everyone away from Kaya while the cheetah had her child. Anya, however, was pacing unhappily. She wasn't about to tell anyone who was there, such as Luke, or Kaitani, but she could sense Kaya's heartbeat, and it wasn't good. The birth was taking a hard toll on her, and she needed a healer there, not some village shaman.

Luke was an absolute wreck during Kaya's birthing. He wanted to be with her. He wanted to hold her hand and comfort her through the ordeal. But the shaman had beat him away from the cheetah. Sure he was sore, but he was just about ready to go back in there and ignore being beaten to death by that shaman. He wanted to be with his love.

Finally, the shaman lifted a baby girl with a head of dark curls up into the air. Kaya smiled, though it was strained, and held out her arms. But the baby was not given to her. The shaman removed its ceremonial headdress, to reveal a face. The face was covered in stitches, as was the rest of the creature's body. "The prophecy is fulfilled!" it rasped, before disappearing. Kaya began to cry, but she wasn't quite done.
It was when Anya heard Kaya crying that she pushed through the curtain, determined to not let the cheetah get hurt. The birth wasn't over, apparently. She'd thought she'd heard a baby cry, but she supposed that it'd been Kaya crying. After some encouragement, finally, Anya moved to stand beside Kaya, holding the baby boy with a shock of red hair on his head. Little red ears twitched on top of the boy's head, and he reached his little arms for his mother. But Kaya wasn't reaching back. Anya gasped, as she realized what was wrong.
Hurriedly, she left the area, still holding the baby, and she stared at Luke, not wanting to break the news to her old friend...

Luke looked up, hearing Kaya cry out. Had he heard a baby? No. It must have been Kaya. Anya had rushed to his wife and a real cry was heard. But Anya came back out with the crying boy.
Her face told him everything, but he didn't want to believe it. He didn't want to believe he had lost his love just how he had lost his mother. Luke got up and slowly walked over to the curtain that divided the two areas. He moved it slightly, just to see the love of his life have a white sheet laid over her. That confirmed his fears. He closed the curtain and gently held out his arms, wanting to hold the only piece of his wife he had left. His son. He tried to cope for now since everyone was still here.

[OOC:] It's a testament to how much I love our characters that I'm actually crying a little... Anya placed the baby carefully into Luke's arms, swallowing hard. She knew she should've gone to Kaya sooner... She might have been able to save her.
Kaitani watched his surrogate father's face, and he immediately stood and walked over to Luke's side. Just like that, the cheetah had gone? He knew that the wolf would be terribly sad, despite now having a son.
Miles away already, the creature--a soul stealer--looked down at the baby it'd stolen for the millionth time. A soul stealer was formed when an extremely good and loving soul was ripped apart by something: Heartbreak, a traumatic death, etc. The person's soul left their body, leaving them an animated corpse. Over time, as their body began to decompose, they were forced to feed on the souls of the living and use the left over body parts to reconstruct themselves. This particular soul-stealer had watched her baby girl be killed, which had caused the initial soul splitting. It had been centuries, though, and she had always toyed with the idea of stealing a baby and raising her. She'd come across this perfect opportunity completely on accident.

[OOC:] Indeed...
Luke sat down away from the group of people that had come to celebrate his child's birth. He wanted to be alone right now. Alone with his son. He cradled the baby, gently hushing the child as he held the infant close. This was all he had left of Kaya. And he was going to raise the boy into a proper gentleman. So that he might meet his own Kaya.

[OOC:] Is alright. I'm on my dad's right now. Had to get some summer homework done that I'd procrastinated to the point of having no computer... Anya quickly started to usher people from the medical wing as they all either stared at Luke and his son, or at the curtain behind which Kaya's pale body was. She looked back once, before finally getting Kaitani to leave, and leaving herself.
Meanwhile, the soul stealer had found the little cottage she'd started to live in, which was new for her. She'd traveled for years, centuries even, across the world without ever staying somewhere. But that was no way to have a little child live, at least for a few years. The rather gruesome looking woman sat in a rocking chair, smiling down at the curly-headed baby as it opened dark brown eyes. She did, indeed, look like the poor woman who'd had her. "Maria," the soul stealer crooned, calling the name of her deceased daughter. [OOC:] I was thinking you could play the son, if you want. Since he's more like Luke.

[OOC:] Alright. And the son is going to be the definition of gentleman.
Luke sat with his son, cradling him and rocking him softly. He gently pet the red hair the boy had inherited from the wolf. "It's alright. I will tell you all about your mother. She was wonderful. But those stories will be for later. It's getting late." he said softly as the pup grabbed one of his fingers and played with it. "For now rest.... Kuro."
[OOC:] Shall I timeskip to when he's a little older?

[OOC:] Sure. I shall as well Over the years, Maria was raised by the soul-stealing creature, knowing her dearly as a mother. It was this creature who combed Maria's long dark curls, and who dressed the little girl as the princess she so rightly was. They moved away from their mountain cottage when Maria was only a few years old, never settling down for long. While Maria drew only good attention, her mother drew all the bad. But the two made it along. However, there was the slightest of flaws: they both needed to survive off souls. Yes, the creature Maria called mother had taken the baby's soul years ago, leaving Maria an equal creature of darkness. So, the little soul stealing pair was infamous wherevee they left. But slowly, their path was curving back toward Mesilici...

[OOC:] I was thinking... What if what draws them in is Kuro's soul?
Kuro, over the years, had grown into a strapping young lad. He looked just as regal as his father in appearance, and how he dressed. The young prince wore the royal looking coats his father did, the tailored clothes, and shined boots. He looked like a true prince. And he was very polite and well-mannered. But he never seemed to talk to others except his father and his aunt. He only talked to animals regularly. Luke wanted him to be a true gentleman. But his father didn't keep him from all of the worldly pleasures children get. Luke had let Kuro take care of the animals Kaya had left behind. Surely they would take to the son of their caregiver.

[OOC:] That's a good idea. Once a soul-stealer gets a taste of a soul, they want more. Since she already has Kaya and Maria's, now she wants Kuro's, then she'll want Luke's, and Lunora's and pretty much everyone's.
[align-center]"I know, mom," Maria said exasperatedly as her mother lectured her on how to act when they reached their most recent destination. Maria, unlike her mother, didn't look like a soul-stealer. Her mother had long ago explained that Maria was a special gift to her, to replace the baby she'd once lost. Because of that, Maria came from a magic family. Even though Maria survived in the same way as her mother (feeding off of souls and stealing body parts) she didn't need to stitch skin onto herself. Instead, the magic in her blood fused the parts to her. Which meant that she could walk freely amongst people and choose her victims early. Right then, they were heading to a castle. According to her mother, there was a young soul there, about her age, that would be very recognizable. She'd been given the first soul, the soul of his sibling, that her mother had had. Hopefully, by means of that soul she'd be able to fine the brother. Absentmindedly, she touched the necklace she wore. It held every soul she'd ever captured, as well as the one soul she was borrowing from her mother. Finally, they were close. There was a brief goodbye, with Maria and her mother hugging and reviewing their meeting place, before Maria began up the walkway to the castle. Her long, dark curls were over her shoulder, as always, and her dark eyes were bright and round as they'd always been. She was dressed like a traveler, naturally, but the clothes did nothing to hide the young woman she'd become. Finally, she reached the door of the castle, and reached up, clanging the knocker against the door.
