*crawls on the floor into the room* No....more.....food.......*tries to lift her head but fails and lays back down* No.....more......food. lol
Ah too much to catch up on!
@Sapphire-Welcome to teenage hood. Totally expected and normal for a teen, especially a six-teen, to choose crushes and boyfriends over parents. rolleyes I'm sorry your 8 year old won't fly alone, but understandable.
@ Joe- What's a crouch? xp
@Lily- OMG that sounds like so much fun, I wish I lived in Finland! Foods here in the states (that you didn't mention) usually runs: cranberry sauce, yams, green bean casarole, Souffl'es, stuffing, all the apple and pumpkin and pecan pies, stuff like that. Everyone does it differently. 3nodding
My Thanksgiving was much better than I thought it would be. My family is very.....um.....high class with proper demeanors. My mom and I are the wild child "bad" apples. blaugh Everyone else is either a rich: Real Estate Agent, Fire Chief, University Professor, Head of Technologies for the City, Radio DJ, etc etc.
So we get there at like 4:30PM and my great-grandmother has this HUGE garage that can fit her RV. (People stop and ask her if it was the original firehouse rofl ) Well everyone had covered up the tool boxes and shelves with antique, fall themed quilts, then put up twinkle lights. Then they filled the whole garage with tables and covered them them with pumpkins, leaves, candles, golden plates, stuffed animal turkeys, big bouquets of fall themed flowers in crystal vase's. Even the table cloth's had fall leaves on them. Inside the house was another big table covered in nuts, chocolate, cheese, crackers, meat, brie, olives, shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, you name an appetizer, it was on that table!.
So we cooked, got in eachother's ways, dropped things, ran after the toddler, and finally sat down to eat. Half the tables were for the buffet of food, and the rest we sat at so we formed like a line, lol. The end table was alcohol: red wine, white wine, champagne, pomagranite juice (to mix with champagne) and everything was aged, like the red wine I had was 6 years old. After we were done eating we went around and said what we were all thankful for and headed into the house for coffee, desserts, and games. So it was very cool.
Four hours later around 8:30 we leave. We live in a very overpopulated town so as were were driving through it was like Dawn of the Dead quiet. We parked and got out and just walked up and down main street looking in windows, talking, cuddeling, sneaking into a corner for a Thanksgiving make-out session, lol. It was just nice to get my town back for a second, only 3 days are like that: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day.
Anyway I went to sleep at like 9PM, woke up around 1:30AM screaming with what I think Joe was talking about, croutched, lol. Now I'm having outmeal and tea and hoping I feel human again sometime tomorrow, lol.
OMG I wrote a book! LoL No one's gonna take the time to read this, ack! redface gonk

Don't worry Sagi, I read your "book" too. It was a wonderful read. ^_^ I love hearing about other people's traditions.
Lily some foods that are staples in my family around Christmas are lep cookies, nasty holiday punch (pineapple juice and strawberry soda), German chocolate cake, apple pie, deviled eggs, a gingerbread house or two or three (depending on the ages of various children/grandchildren who are out and about), hand made noodle flake noodles, and more!!! Just thinking about all the food makes my mouth water and my tummy hurt, lol.
For now I have to go. My father in law and his (now) finance bought my son a ginger bread house kit and we are all going to put it together. ^_^

Wow, you really have different traditions with christmas food and all of those sounds really good. 3nodding I'm glad I'm going to have a little start up on the christmas food tomorrow but nothing really beats my moms potato dish. I can't find any translations for it but it's pretty much mashed potatos cooked in oven with cream, syrup and sugar. It's kinda sweet and it goes really well with the salted ham and salmon. 3nodding
All this talk about food makes me hungry. I guess I should get some snack and then head for bed. I need to be up early tomorrow. Everyone have a fun weekend! xd

I'm back to report on the construction of this year's first gingerbread house. It was from a large Willy Wonka brand name kit. I have never used a kit before so it was strange. I am used to baking the gingerbread, making my own icing, and so on. My way takes most of the day. The kit thing took us about an hour and 1/2. It was still fun but the house doesn't smell like gingerbread this way. Oh well. We have another smaller kit my son bought with his allowance from the last school fund raiser to do on another day. This is the first year I've let him help. It was super messy but lots of fun. I'll take pictures if I get my computer fixed in time. I'm pretty good at them by now as building them has been a tradition during the holiday season in my family since my grandmother was little. We are good but not as great as some of theses... Here are some crazy neat gingerbread houses: GinnysGingerbreadHouseromanticasheville gingerbread competion winnersGingerbread house patternsEnough about the gingerbread, eh? Lol. Lily that potato dish sounds wonderful! You'll have to post the recipe in a foods/recipe thread. 3nodding And Lana? I always make a chocolate creme pie just for me, my husband, and the kids because I can't ever get enough of it so don't feel too bad. If you really want to mess with people when you make deviled eggs color the filling. One year we separated the filling into 6 dishes and dyed it primary colors; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Then we arranged the eggs in a rainbow. ^_^

Not completely! blaugh Sagitarian_Insomniac We live in a very overpopulated town so as were were driving through it was like Dawn of the Dead quiet. It was just nice to get my town back for a second, only 3 days are like that: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. I grew up in New York City, and those were my 3 favorite days there because it was so deserted. Especially New Years Day. I would run up and down Flatbush Avenue for miles rofl

Mission Viejo was just in the news as the safest city in the US.
