"Really, I wasn't aware your team had a slicer." Colonel Akaga replied steadily.

"I wasnt aware we needed one. We just call down the Lightning and shoot the guys your soldiers cant seem to hit. Information Warfare seems unecessary, especially on this muck hole."

The Colonel smiled at her reply, "Actually there might be need for information warfare after all. Awhile back we had Bakura decrypt a transmission, apparently this planet is important enough for a hutt to set up shop... To nail a criminal like that and bring a little more stability to this mud-hole we need information."

"Why not just give the information to the Sector Rangers?" She asked. "They'll take the hutt down for free and save us the trouble of playing Cops."

"We call the sector rangers and this slug will slip into a hole and cover it up behind him... They're probably even more thoroughly infiltrated then the locals. No... we've got to do this ourselves or it won't get done... A pity the governor has been trying to stonewall this whole operation," Colonel Akaga shook his head. "With a hutt here you can expect a whole slew of weapons to be traveling through his network. I don't want to face Plexes and Thermals down the road so we've got to think about neutralizing him quickly."

"So we'd need to keep the investigation pretty quiet as we conduct it. I'm certain the local police were corrupt before we arrived, but the possibility remains that not all of our forces have been above his influence. Thats where you come in..." The Colonel glanced at her, "As a naval special missions unit your men are the only people who have training for this sort of mission, no one else is capable of completely independent operation... but even then your team is too small for a mission like this, thats why we've got two of the best tank drivers for your crew, and a slicer for digging out the information you'll need to nab him, and the Hoverscout could accommodate a larger assault team, if you think you need two more blasters."

Bakura was trying to ignore the ignorant and human girl. Straight out the academy eh? Laughable, she seemed right out of grade-school. He zipped down the mug of caf while one-handed typing on his laptop, so fast it raddled the table a bit. Then he turned when The Chief said something about transfering him into the recon group."But sir, don't you think my skills are better suited for a place with less um...chance of death? They can always send me a terminal link-up and I can do it all from this room. No need to send me out there." He spoke quickly but he knew al was fruitless, so he sighed under his breath.

"We don't have a satellite network in orbit Twitch, there's no way to transmit a real time data-link without those, and the meteoric activity makes even holo-comm communications unstable on occasion. No, you're going in with the elite... hell, you're probably safer with them then here... you know what one proton grenade would do to this place?" Colonel Akaga answered as he glanced at his chronometer, "We can finish this discussion after the ceremony."

"Lieutenant Aryss, if you'd ride with me," He stood and walked out to his LAVr Command Track followed by Lieutenant Kimber, who carried a number of cases with him out to the track. At the door he turned as Lt. Colonel Jasmir Adder saluted, "Jasmir, hold down the fort will you?"

The thirty year old woman smiled, "I'll do my best sir."

A freighter came towards Bolba's palace and docked in the hangar. Shortly afterwards several thugs went about on and off it, removing some containers from the ship and putting different ones back onboard it.

Such was a typical day. The only difference was that the ships went in a more roundabout way to get there and to leave the planet. Bolba's business quickly picked back up to where it was. Among today's shipments, several slaves were delivered, though they weren't for the palace. They were to be sold elsewhere, and would leave whenever another vessel comes by to take them away.

Diana was once again with Bolba in his private room. Unlike most other times of being used to satisfy his perverted desires, she seemed to be enjoying it. Apparently during the partying earlier she had a bit too much to drink.

Kara fixed a cold look upon Twitch.
"Trooper, enjoy your time while you can. Because in a few days, your a** is mine. I'll make a proper Imperial Soldier out of you. Even if it kills you."
With that she turned to follow the Colonel out to his Command track.

With a hiss the chariot door closed behind the lieutenant, "You got the medals and insignia Bek?" Akaga asked as he settled into one of the seats in the command section of the vehicle.

"Yes sir, we got em..."

"Good, wouldn't want to be short a Starcluster or rank bar." Saburo answered with a sigh, "Sergeant, take us to the amphitheater. It's time to get this piece of theater rolling."

The Mission was underway. The teams had split up to their assigned posts. And well on scheduel, Charr and Lenler were in the balcony, near the back and out of sight making final preperations.

Unslinging an immaculately kept, but well used, short barreled blaster carbine, the Rodian pressed it into the youth's hands.

"This is the N'Gant-Zarvel 9118, the pinacle of modern Rodian military blaster design and lightyears ahead of any contemporary small arm carbine. Light, easy to use, rugged and dependable, she can knock a fully armored man on his a** at 500 meters and blow a ghest in half at 20. Custom ordered Waterproof ceramisteel composition with a phobium lined barrel, teej wood stock, and a phond crystal beam focuser. Her name is Andoorni, and she was my first wife."

He continued to explain the features to him as he talked, still speaking in a quiet, low voice that couldnt carry to the surrounding room.

"She has a fifty round magazine and we dont have another ammo pack, so aim, dont spray. Stun setting's here, safty is here. This is the fire selection switch: Semi Auto, two shot burst, and auto. Never set her on auto. She kicks too hard for a rookiee and you'll set her out of alignment. Plus, a bolt or two is all you need to kill any sentinent on the planet. This is the power output switch. Dont touch that either. She's set right where we need her. Now when you shoot her, press the stock to the shoulder and shoot her like a rifle, not from the hip like you see in the Holofilms. No serious soldier shoots from the hip. She may seem light but she's plenty powerful. Treat her like a lady and she'll never let you down."

He turned to his scoped and modified Hunter rifle and began to fiddle with it's adjustments, still explaining things to Lenler.

"Now when I'm sighting in, I wont be able to react fast enough to incoming threats. So if someone comes through that balcony door, have Andoorni send 'em packing. She's power enough to stop 'em in ther tracks. But use her ONLY when someone is up in my six. Otherwise, use your rifle and provide support fire. Dont think of it as killing human beings, because if you do, you'll hesitate. And we have no time for you to morally debate the issue. Just aim and pull like you're on the target range."

He slippped on the headset mike and then lay flat on the floor, rifle in hand, waiting for the room to dim with a practiced ease.

"You got all that, kid?"
PostPosted: Fri Sep 07, 2007 10:55 pm

"Yeah, I guess so." Lenler said quietly, getting down to lie flat, as Charr had done. The idea of shooting at and possibly killing another human being didn't appeal to him, but he knew that it was for the good of Seya-Qu that this mission was a success. He knew that knowledge wasn't nearly enough for him to end a life without any feelings of guilt, but it would have to suffice.

He put Charr's Carbine down, almost reverently, by his side, where he could reach it easily should they be met with resistance. Then, he pulled out his own Rifle, and readied himself for what was to come.

Charr noted the youth's unease.
"Just remember what these baarves have done. They've invaded your homeworld, killed a good number of honest folk, have taken your freedoms, and will gladly kill you too if you so much as raise a finger to complain. Seya Que is better off without them, and its high time we sho the Empire they've worn out their welcome."

Lenler nodded grimly, not trusting himself to say anything. He flicked the safety catch off on his Hunter, hearing the soft click it made, knowing somehow that this was the first moment of the rest of his life. Whatever followed, for better or worse, would be a vastly different life than the one he had known. I just hope I'm up to it... he thought, tightening his grip on the Hunter's barrel.

Calm, at ease, patient, Charr flicked a glance to the human boy nearby.
He couldnt resist. The temptation was to great.
Nonchalantly, he adusted his scope and made an off hand observation.
"You know, in my experience Lenny, Ive found that- for the most part- you humans taste like Nerf."
