I played a game of apocalypse yesterday at our local store, it was the Imperium vs greenskins, was supposed to be orks orks and chaos vs marines, marines and guard, one marine player couldn't join us so the store manager joined in with hit dark angels, and I added up another 2000 points of orks bringing up my force to 4000 points while the other ork player had 2000.

Each payer got one random strategic asset and one secret objective, my fellow ork player got an "orktex Boombox grenade", it's much like a vortex granade, but more random and fun since both sides gets to controll it (sort of).

I got some nasty fitting stuff for my army, Ork Rok Bombardment, managed to get 2 Roks, and splatted more orks than 'oomies and beakies... But it was fun none-the less!

I also had the big waaagh! asset, letting my boyz double their WAAAGH! move, and since I had Ghazskull (aka Epic Failboss localy), a forever failing big nasty bad moon warlord... But it was nice since all my WAAAGH!'in units ran 12"... Hurr hurr...

My secret objectives wasn't accomplished though... I was supposed to kill an enemy character with Epic Failboss, but the enemy only had 3 of them in total, 2 being Imperial Guard characters who stood behind the line giving away a Ld boost to surrounding troops, and a space marine chapter master... None was close to the fight... >:

My second objective was that my Bikerboss was supposed to kill something BIG! But when he was close to the baneblade my ork mate set up his orktex boombox grenade, blowing up one baneblade and crippling a nearby one heavilly... Leaving nothing for my bikerboss to take out in the final turn...

The imperium threw 4 baneblades and 1 shadowsord at us, while we only had 1 stompa, 1 kostum stompa and a skullhamma, the odds were against us... But somehow we managed to blow up all but one baneblade, which was out of most weapons and immobilized in the end, one stompa had one structure point left and the same for the skullhamma, the stompa I used was unharmed through the whole game. mrgreen

God Bless Kustom Force Field Big Meks inside superheavies... <3

I'll try to make a battle report, or atleast a summary once the store manager gets the pictures online.

Four new Imperial Guard datasheets:

Rough Rider company

Heavy weapon company

Armageddon Stompa hunters

Storm Trooper strike force

The Storm Trooper commando force special rule in particular will have people whine and groan for some time to come.

They made the Stompa, so why not the Warhound?
Or are they on two totally different scales?
PostPosted: Tue Apr 20, 2010 12:09 am

All 40k models are the same scale. It has more to do with the amount of parts the kit would be made up of, along with what weapons it would have in the box. As of right now the Warhound has access to four weapons. Not a whole lot but chances are that the kit will be limited to the Vulcan Mega Bolter and the Turbo Laser.

Personally I think GW isn't ready to do the Warhound yet. It would take thousands and thousands of Pounds of investment to produce such a model as a plastic kit. I think the execs already looked it over several times and decided not to go with it, seeing as it would most likely be too expensive a kit to put out and expect to reap a good profit in return. Besides, FW is doing okay with them as of now, so I think they will keep producing them for some years to come.

Same can be said of the plastic Thunderhawk really, though of that beast sprues have been spotted several years ago.

However, should there be a plastic Warhound, I'll be one of the first in line to get one. sweatdrop

True enough, I wouldn't mind a Thunderhawk, any one know where the rules are for them? Is it IA?

Taken from the Forge World IA2 PDF that was on their site:

THUNDERHAWK GUNSHIP - 900 Points

Armour BS F S R
Thunderhawk Gunship 4 12 12 10

Unit Composition:
• 1 Thunderhawk Gunship

Unit Type:
• Super Heavy Flyer

Structure points:
• 3 Structure points

Transport Capacity:
• 30

Access points:
• One access hatch on each side and a forward assault
ramp (units disembarking from a Thunderhawk may assault on the same turn).

Wargear:
• Hull-mounted Thunderhawk cannon
• Four sponson-mounted twin-linked heavy bolters
• Two hull-mounted lascannons
• Six bomb pylons. For each bombing run the Thunderhawk may drop two pylons, which is resolved as an Apocalyptic barrage(6) weapon. This can be done three times per game, after which the Thunderhawk is out of bombs

Options:
• May upgrade Thunderhawk cannon
with a turbo-laser destructor +20 pts
• May replace its 6 bomb pylons with 6 Hellstrike missiles - Free

Special Rules:
• Hover Mode
• Ceramite Shielding

Ceramite Shielding: In order to resist the heat of atmospheric entry a Thunderhawk has thick ceramite shielding. Weapons with the ‘Melta’ special rule never roll an extra dice for armour penetration against the Thunderhawk.

Weapon Range Str. AP Type
Thunderhawk cannon 72" 8 3 Ordnance 1, 7" blast,
Primary Weapon
Turbo-laser Destructor 72" D 2 Heavy 1, 5" blast,
Primary Weapon
Bomb Bomb 6 4 Apocalypse Barrage (6)
Heavy bolter 36" 5 4 Heavy 3
Lascannon 48" 9 2 Heavy 1
Hellstrike Missile 72" 8 3 Heavy 1, One-shot

1-3 Thunderhawk Gunships are a war machine detachment for a Space Marine army.

If you want the super-heavy flyer rules and anything else, tough luck, for those you will need to get the Apocalypse rulebook or just find scans somewhere.

I'll just mail it, it's a small file, mostly typo-free for some odd reason.

My vote for next Apocalypse plastic kit goes to either the Thunderhawk or some big Eldar skimmer. I don't really see the other races getting something big in plastic soon that has already been done before by Forge World or in Epic scale.

Thinking of the Thunderhawk being released in plastic, maybe that would also see some plastic flyers being released in the future. I'd love to field a renegade detachment of the Imperial Navy
