Sahaqiel Ashura saw the look that Erica had given him and shook his head. He looked back up at her, and took a step towards her. "Let me think of you like I did then...and then..." He looked her in the eyes and smiled weakly. "And then I want you to kill me."

The guards in the watch room finally noticed the cameras. They couldn't see any escapees of course, but what they did see was something had messing with them. "Johnson to security," the guard called into the rec room with his radio. "I need three of you to take a look at the cameras in section A and then section B, thanks."
Three guards left the rec room and started moving towards the area that Alloran was in with the 50+ slaves recently freed, the majority of which were women and children.

Ashura smiled as the glow faded from Erica's eyes. "Yes..." He said quietly, the smile still on his face. "That is what I need. I've been alive far too long."

Erica unsheathed a knife that had been strapped to her thigh and stepped towards him. She stepped into an embrace, and drove the tip of the blade into his chest. "Find some peace...for the both of us."
Edited (or added to) six years later, because this still makes me ridiculously sad, and I'm damn well going to fix it:
Erica reached for the knife strapped at her thigh and then paused, "No." She glared at Ashura, "******** no. You are not doing this to me again. I've loved you and mourned you so many goddamn times. I thought you were dead in Flippyville, then I thought you were insane and trying to kill me in Haven...and once again I assumed you died in the mimic wars. But you wiped your mind and became someone else, and before I even knew you were there I was the one to die. We haven't been alive too long, Ashe; we've died too many times." She held his gaze a moment, "for god's sake, man, you need a chance to live. We both do."
A look of concentration fell over her face as she looked away a moment, "I still have a few things to do here, but after that, I'm done with all of this." She turned back to him, holding out a hand, "Let's do what we should have done in Flippyville: Leave the war, the factions, all of it behind.You and me."
She smiled softly, "we'll probably have to fake our deaths, but hell, we're owed this much, Ashe."

Ruby reached the outside of the wall, reasonably proud of herself for doing so without any disastrous events. She turned to the men who had followed her and motioned with her chin for them to finish their escape. "Up in that direction is Krovh, and they got shelters for the refugees and the like, it'd prob'ly be your best bet." She nodded, keeping a general smile across her face.
About half of the twenty men headed out into the wasteland ahead of them, not looking back. The other ten seemed to dawdle a moment. "Aren't you boys goin' anywhere?" Ruby asked, looking over the remaining slaves. Something didn't seem quite right, and she instinctively backed up a few feet.
"Oh we will be going. We'll be going to New Pheonix, and a captive super to trade in for good faith will get us well established." The bearded man who had seemed so familiar lifted up a gun and aimed it at Ruby's head. As she looked down to her own holster she found it empty, the man having swiped her gun while she was focused on moving the slaves safely out of the city. The man moved the gun slightly and shot Ruby in the arm. "Power inhibiting rounds." The man chuckled. "It will make the transport much easier. Now start walking."
Ruby bit back the pain in her arm, and started moving. Despite the power inhibiting rounds, she'd still be able to heal her wound, being protected as she was by the silver ring on her small finger, but that was her one ace and she decided it was best to keep it hidden for the moment. If she healed she'd have to fight, and if she fought, they'd know who she was, and the recognition finally dawned as she realized who the man with the gun was. If she'd have any chance at all, it would be to remain unnoticed in New Pheonix, and to use the ring to escape before they knew she was resistant to the power inhibiting fields.
She bit down on her lip as they pushed her foreward, through the wasteland towards the minefield, and tried to resist the urge to heal, the throbbing pain in her arm bringing tears to her eyes.

Ashuras shadow lurched upwards to protect him as the blade made contact, but he forced it down to the ground. He could feel the blade pierce bone, and eventually his heart. He fell forwards, and quickly wrapped his arms around Erica's shoulders. He took a few quick breaths, and muttered "I...I..." but began to slump to the ground, his body shutting down.
Edited--as follows-- after six years to give ED peace of mind:
Ashe likely put up a bit of a fight in attempts to keep the beautiful tragedy that was his end in tact. But Erica refused to give in, and despite the fact she abandoned the concept of factions she was still the lieutenant Villainess at heart, and no one says"no" to Suff, not even Ashura the stuffy hero-turned-villain.
They took to a street that they knew Ora's spies would be watching, and Erica drew the dagger at her thigh and moved to Ashura, embracing him as she brought the dagger to his chest.
Ashura's shadow lurched up to protect him as the blade made contact, leaving a shallow cut, but his body intact. He fell forwards, and quickly wrapped his arms around Erica's shoulders. He took a few quick breaths, and muttered "I...I..." but began to slump to the ground.

Erica slowly lowered to the ground and held him. She hummed the tune of the three blind mice, and hid her smile into his shoulder, allowing her own shoulders to shake with the shudder of feigned sobs.

Ashura coughed, and then smiled. He adjusted his embrace around her, and then coughed again, blood getting onto Erica's shoulder. He smiled again, kissed her gently on the cheek, and with one last convulsion, he was gone.

((I'll be fine....but it's still so sad. I'm going to miss Ashe. crying ))
Erica held him a while longer, rocking him gently. As the cold wind began to blow, she realized he had left with it. She layed him backward onto the ground, pausing over his face as she gave him a soft kiss on the lips. She felt the taste of salt in her mouth, whether it was from his blood, or from tears she wasn't sure. With a shaky hand, she reached up and closed his grey eyes. "Sightless," She whispered. The word was filled with so many memories, and soaked with emotion, that it was difficult what all she meant by it. She propped him up against a building wall, facing towards the east. When the sun raised she wanted it to warm and touch his face. Maybe somehow, wherever he was, he would feel it, and it would remind him of the sunset they had watched, or more accurately felt, together, back when he was blind.

She laid him backward onto the ground, pausing over his face as she gave him a soft kiss on the lips. She closed his grey eyes, and propped him up against the building wall to make him a bit more comfortable.

Garret had finally made his way back to the city. He had intended on going to his pawn shop, but he paused when he saw Erica near a body. He sensed she was hurting, and forgot that he hadn't seen her in years. He put his hand on her shoulder and squeezed gently. "Are you ok?" He asked. He knew it would be odd for him to be kind, but he felt slightly nicer now.

Erica let out a bitter laugh. "so long as you don't ask me to do you in as well." She tilted her head turning away from Ashe's body. "I'll miss him, but he's happier this way."

"Alright kids, we needa get to movin', and make it snappy like. Donna know how long we've got, but we needa use up as little of it as we can. Get to movin." Alloran ushered the group along, staying for the last straggelers to make sure none were left when he saw the guards approaching, though they hadn't seen him yet. He cursed, quickly heating the tar pavement under their feet, causing them to stick. He then quickly disabled their guns and communicators with emerald energy, quietly calling for the group to hurry.

The guard had broken through the sticky ground as Alloran and the last stragglers were heading for the exit. The first guard reached for his communicator, but when he found it was broken he started yelling for the second guard to run back for reinforcements. The remaining two guards chased after Alloran and the slaves. They tried shooting their guns, but when they found it didn't work they tossed them to the side.

Devon was wandering the streets of Union City, and noticed Erica and Lucidity. He approached them with a smile. "And what are you two doing out during this hour? Didn't you know there's a raid going on?" He looked down to Ashura and smiled. "Oh dear..." He said cockily. "Someone else has killed him again. He looked to Erica and could see her distraught look. "So that makes two of us then." He held his hand out to her and said "My name is Devon, Devon Reed."
