The cluster missles was kind of lame, but so was his. I say call it even and just give a warning to both parties not to godmodd ever. And let it be an example to everyone here, including all of us.

Thank you. Your suggestion is noted, and I must agree with you at this time.

I feel that the cluster missles were a bit of overkill, and that he should have given him the opportunity to either choose to evade or take the hits.

That being said, this is my ruling as current mod on duty:

Loki and stellar: you both really need to talk things over, and agree on what will happen. I understand that the course of battle is chaotic, and the s**t hits the fan the minute the first shot is fired.

Still, I agree that while one is generally free to vape a "red-shirt" NPC as it were, it's good form to allow your opponent to give their response. You cannot just arbitraily kill a PC without consent.

*slams her gavel down!*

My ruling is a draw at this time. If you feel that I am in error, you may petition either Cale or Nelo to overrule what I've laid down here.

However, if they back my ruling, then you must abide by it.

Addendum: Cale, it's a cluster-kriff. @_@

CW, care to give me a bit more of an explanation? Perhaps I can render verdict unto the offending parties.

Certainly. Here's how I see it:

Loki here is taking issue with stellar's cluster missle attack. It does seem fairly realistic, assuming he's going by a comparable weapon seen in the Clone Wars series, and, if memory serves, Episode Three. Of course, such would seem difficult to evade, but workable with pilots of high caliber.

Stellar in response seems to be taking issue with the fact that Loki has conjured up these X-cruisers. Alas, there are no stats in which we can draw a true feel of their strength. And, stellar seems to think that they may possibly be of an outdated design. However, I'm a proponent of "What's old can be made anew", and would honour it if I had a better feel of what it's about.

That being said, do you feel that either are in fact modding? Or, merely a miscommunication?
PostPosted: Wed Jan 03, 2007 5:42 pm

That in mid, sounds like the X-cruiser is a miscommunication.

But the clusters are god modding, technically.

Though of course, battles at this kind of scale are head. To actually post every last action and maneuveur of every ship would drag on the RP another hundred pages. I say just be careful how you post things.

Sidenote: In Roage Squadron there were two variants: cluster with homing, and those with non. Non-homing are difficult to dodge, but far from impossible. Seekers, however are nigh impossible to dodge (unless you're Obi-Wan Kenobi)

Thank you, Kenet. 3nodding

And yes, that would be uber hard. But yes, some common sense should be applied to what's going on. And of course, not every rocket or blast can be avoided. Good form, IMO, dictates something like (( All right. I just fired an uber cluster at your guys. Who takes the hits, and who manages to evade? ))

Now, if stellar were to have dropped me that note, I'd then say: Seagull squadron then went to evasive maneuvers to avoid the hellish cluster. However, Seagulls Seven, Nine, Ten and Four were annihilated on contact, as the survivors scrambled.

And then, I'd go on, and once I've said my piece, let stellar say what he'll do next.

That's probably the best way to go of it.

Ive seen both players style of roleplay, plus I know Stellar as a close personal friend.
He's a**l about statistics.
Cluster missles are every pilots nightmare, especialy lighter interceptors and fighter craft. Skill and luck in addition to appropriate anti-warhead countermeasures such as flares and decoys are the only way to escape them. Otherwise you'll have to ride out the storm and hope your shields hold. A lucky Sparrow pilot MIGHT survive getting a pair of clusters up his tailpipe, a T-wing almost certainly can.

Cluster missles do indeed exist, and have been around for quite some time. A-wings would sometimes make use of cluster missles as opposed to concussion warheads.
The threat of them is very real, and the T-97's variable payload means it can pack a few on in addition to some bigger toys.

And we no nothing about the cruisers, which presents a major problem. The way capital ship design works is that its progressive. If we've never heard of them before, then there was something wrong with them that put them out of service.
Old tech doesnt top new tech in sci-fi. Why do you think Y-wings were always getting blown out of the sky during the Rebellion?

I personally would want to see stats on them before anyone started using them so that we know how they stack against other craft of the current play era.
I feel that the two should communicate how the battle should go and work out a compromise as opposed to throwing accusations.
Stellar doesnt god mod. He'd rather hang himself first. But when facing the hard combat facts he throws out, people not thinking on the same plane as him will start grasping at straws to level the playing field. Stellar's a hardcore military stratagist buff. He's hard to beat.
If you want a tip, try going with simple strategies. He often overlooks stuff like that, seeking to plot out hidden meanings and complexities where there are none to be found. Simple tactics slip under his notice until they bite him in the a**.

No, that means he'll focus all the harder on his screen with every post and still miss the move.

I watched him play Rome: Total War once. The most obvious tactical decisons didnt occur to him until I made the suggestion.
Stellar's plans are often over complicated, designed to baffle and intimidate his opponents by a vigorous display of tactical maneuvering and skill.
Thats his weakness.

How else would you beat thrawn?

Come on EK. Your guy is trying to be a clone of Thrawn. Just try to think of what he should be doing (instead of what he is doing), and that's what Stellar will do.

Personally, just be thankful you haven't had the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with the Pillar in a battle.

Thank you, Cale. And I'll take you at your word that stellar is playing fair. 3nodding

Statistics do have their place, and can indeed aid one in making an informed judgement. However, there are times when one must turn to simplicity in favour of storytelling.

Also, being descriptive is good. However, when one goes into Robert Jordan mode, spending three pages of some guy walking through the snow, it's time to determine what details are needed, and what can pretty much be assumed, and go on! xd

I tend to be fairly simple in my style. ^_^;; Try to give out what's needed, no more, no less.

And, with all that said, I think we can all agree that we should examine our respective strengths, as well as weaknesses. ^_^;; Each of us also has our own storytelling style that works for us, as well as things we like and dislike in our respective literatures of choice.

Well, at least this time around I actually have a well-thought out strategy, some back-up ideas, and believe it or not, help.

I just realized.

And you two twits are mucking up the name of Mandalore.
I'm being brutally honest.
Its enough to make MtI roll in his grave.
If he had one. Next episode he might return to smack both of you twits around some.

That's all him. I didn't come up with that. I didn't even know another one existed...
