Myyth was happy to be back at Benden, she'd missed her dragon, and being stuck at fort had only made it worse. As soon as she was on the ground Myyth thought to her dragon. "Spirith? Where are you?"

"I am here. You were gone long. I was hungery, and my skin iched" Myyth was overjoyed to hear her dragon, but still she wonered, Who had cared for her while she'd been gone?
"Are you hungery now?" Myyth asked. "No I'm full now, riders fed me and oiled my skin." The dragon replied.

Her rider continued to try to find the dragon as they talked. "They did thats good, I was a bit worried about you." 'Why do you look for me?, I am here." Myyth recived an image of a spot just outside the weyrling quarters. Surprised Myyth almost walked into a wall. "I didn't know you could do that." "You were looking for me. Is it not what I should have done?" Spirith sounded a bit worried. "Its not that Spirith, you just haven't done it before. You surprised me."

"I itch again." Myyth laughed, as she walked up to her little dragon. It didn't look like anything had changed since she'd left, after all.

The candidate barracks were indeed empty, as Tikal had found out the previous night. Empty and quiet... After the experience with the draclings that afternoon, the headwoman had directed her in the right direction. A day of riding followed by chores finally caught up with her. Picking the farthest and most unreachable cot as her own, she had collapsed upon the sleeping furs without bothering to undress.

She was returning now from a trip to the baths. She had been too tired to unpack the day before so today Tikal decided to focus on getting her things in order and placing her unimpressive wardrobe in the trunk at the foot of her bed.

She was in the process of putting on her shoes when Lapis and Glint appeared. The latter sqwaked loudly and sent her a picture of Lira before dissapearing. Tikal suddenly understood. Lira's rising! Quick Lapis, where are they? Lapis crooned worriedly, before showing her the place. Take me. Not bothering with her damp hair she laced up her shoe and, using her little blue as a guide, hurried after Glint.

R'nek blushed, almost to the ruddy colour of his dragonet. "Er... uh...I'm... I'm not... I'm a Weyrling too." He stumbled over the words, all poised and aloof manner dissolved the moment he opened his mouth. He sighed. "Illness at Fort. Girls that went... dragonets here... need to be taken care of." He managed to choke out, his colour deepening with every word.
Startled, she backs up a pace as her bird, Margarita,(description of her in my guild profile) lands gracefully on her shoulder, looking him up and down again. "Now that you mention it, you don't look as old as I thought at first glance." She blushes ever so slightly at her mistake. She holds out a hand, her cheeks and nose warming. "I'm sorry, I didn't know... Umm, let's pretend that didn't happen. I'm Nikomas, Nikomas Torren. Or just Niko for short." She shrugs, hand still extended. Gyo, d'you know which hatching this guy is from? I don't remember if I've seen him before or not... The brightly colored bird cocks her head to the side, gazing at the weyrling with one eye and then the other, before clacking her beak loudly and ruffling her feathers.

I don't think this one is from our hatching, love. I'm not pretty sure, though with my mind there's always a possibility of being wrong, though that is not ever incredibly likely. Gyo pauses for a moment, sending a little revulet of though to Reymenek's dragon. Which hatching are you from, the fourth? And what's your name? I'm Gyomanth. His mental voice has a preen as he announces his name.

Hello, Gyomanth. I am Famyroth - and yes, I am from the fourth hatching.

R'nek took her hand in his firm grip. "Yes, let's... I'm Rey... or, well, R'nek, I suppose now." His voice now steady, she could hear the smooth quailty it usually had, much of what made him seem so self-assured. He eyed the bird. "Bright little thing you've got there."

Gyo doesn't respond for a moment. Then... I was wrong?! He is surprised into almost speechlessness.

Niko smiles at him. "It's nice to meet you, R'nek. And this l'il girl is Margarita. She's a spoiled brat, but I love her anyways..." Grinning, she reaches a hand up, scratching the birds breast feathers as Margarita shuts her eyes in pleasure, almost smiling. "And my lout of a dragon is off somewhere else, probably in our little weyr-cubby. Oh yeah, his name's Gyomanth." She smiles again, cheerfully.

Ray snorts as Kya seems to have been spooked a little bit by her attitude. Her eyes remain on Wrath as the queen shreds a herdbeast. "Is Nakoreth going to try again?" she asks, her tone sardonic. "Now that'd be funny, a brownrider Weyrleader. Do you think there'd be an open rebellion in the Weyr, or maybe everyone would just stop taking Benden seriously? You've already humiliated the bronzeriders at Igen, maybe you and Nakoreth should make a sweep of all the Weyrs."

An eyebrow quirks up as Wrath, after finishing her... Ray lost count. It must have been at least five so far, and always before the queen had been more than satisfied with four. But sure enough, Wrath goes after another, a rather slow wherry this time.

K'makin takes a deep breath, trying to sound casual, and failing. "Now, I'll be the first to admit, Nakoreth actually catching Wrath was the last thing I expected, and it's certainly the last thing I want this time around!"

Talking was most likely the wrong choice, but he's already started and the words keep coming out. He throws up his arms in exasperation, "You know I would be a terrible Weyrleader! I know I would be a terrible Weyrleader!" He shakes a fist at Ray, though she's not even looking at him. "You have no need to make cruel comments to discourage me. I'm discouraged! Let it rest. I came to ask an innocent question regarding the leadership of the Weyr and you... you..." he sputters, "you act as though you hadn't spent the past three weeks away, as though you hadn't just come home to your friends."

His hands drop to his sides. "I thought you were my friend, but you... barely had a civil word for me. I-" he finally gets his brain caught up with his mouth. "I-I don't know why I'm still here." He walks away.

Ray blinks as K'makin begins his tirade, suddenly afraid to turn around and actually face him. She had been a bit overly mean to him... but she was still angry at him. She couldn't remember why, but she was.

She nearly turns around at his last comment, but he was already walking away. Fine. Let him walk. As friendly as Nakoreth may be, the Weyr needed the best bronze to fly Wrath, and Nakoreth was a brown.

That was unkind.

What?

You were mean to him. He is your friend. You should say sorry.

Did you HEAR him?

Did you hear yourself?

This makes Ray stop to think, but the Red Star would burn out before she sacrificed her pride to run after him in public and apologize.

I'll apologize later.

Wrath makes a sarcastic sound, and leaves the feeding grounds, lumbering slowly into the air to glide toward her weyr ledge, where she perches and begins cleaning her muzzle and talons. Sighing, Ray picks up the harness, and hefting it onto her shoulder, follows her dragon. Being in her own secure weyr again would be so nice ...

As he crosses the weyrbowl, K'makin fights with his anger. It doesn't help that he keeps replaying the conversation in his head, wondering what happened to it... the plan in his head, where he was friendly, Ray was her usual cheerful self, and then he gallantly offered to help her carry the larger-than-usual harness up to her weyr, and then maybe a nice conversation, to catch up on their recent activities, none of it had happened.

Instead, Ray had been ... so ... suspicious, and grouchy, and mean. Was it just Wrath being proddy, or was it that Wrath's proddiness had prompted Ray to actually say what she'd not said before out of a desire to be nice?

He knew that Nakoreth's winning Wrath's last flight had been a fluke, and didn't expect it to happen again, but he'd always been so proud of the fact. His brown had caught a Queen. How often did that happen?

... But he'd never looked at it from Ray's perspective. Did the bronzeriders at Igen really feel humiliated? Was Ray embarassed about it? Nakoreth might only be a brown, but he was a brown that against all odds, outflew every bronze there. Perhaps the bronzeriders had a right to be somewhat irritated at him and Nakoreth, but why would Ray react like that?

He'd just avoid her until after the Flight, maybe she'd be back to herself after that.

K'vat saw K'makin leave and head across the bowl.
You can go thank him now, I'll come with you! The little green started to waddled across the bowl twords K'makin with her blushing rider behind her.

Preyasith walked right up to K'makin and nuzzled his leg, crooning to get this attention.
K'vat watched K'makin shyly

Kya jumps in surprise as his leg is touched, he glances around. Oh, it's the little green. He crouches down on level with her. "Hello there Preyasith." He looks up to see a boy standing nearby. "Is this your rider?"

K'makin shrugs a bit uncomfortably, but shakes K'vat's hand. "Well, I'm sure someone would have taken care of them. I just happened to be handy most of the time. I'm K'makin, brown Nakoreth's rider."

Kya's jaw drops in shock. "Sh-she-she spoke to me." As he attempts to regain his composure--today was just full of surprises!--his hand reaches out to scratch her eye ridge automatically. "You aren't supposed to speak to me," he tells her. "You'll make K'vat jealous." After a comment from his own dragon, "And Nakoreth."
