24. New Question of the Month/Week:
If you could have a certain item from a fantasy/medieval movie, which would it be and why? Would you like to have it on Gaia as well?

Danilo Thann's singing sword from Elfsong. I won't even change the song it sings. It's hilarious! Only part of the poem appears in Elfsong, but the whole thing was recently published in a "Best of the Realms" compilation of Elaine Cunningham's short stories under the title "Elminster's Jest."
I'd love to be able to hand it to one of my rapier teachers for a lesson. mrgreen

My Answer:
I'd like to have the white dragon you can see in The Never Ending Story. Wouldn't that be cool? I think it could make a cool Gaia item as well. 3nodding
So, a singing sword, eh Berz? Nice! wink

Perhaps if you click on the avatar that has it it makes noise? I'd post the poem, but it might violate the TOS, since it's a bawdy ballad... Berz.

24. If you could have a certain item from a fantasy/medieval movie, which would it be and why? Would you like to have it on Gaia as well? *omgracious!* So many good items!
((by the by Hypno - the white dragon... it's a luck-dragon named Falkor!))
Maybe the Auryn - the necklace from the Neverending Story. But as an item on an avi it would have to be big enough to see. *oh* - a little goblin friend from Labyrinth! Like a pet or something! An item that would give you the bottom of a centaur - or a faun!!! like Mr. Tumnus - from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe!
4laugh rofl rofl 4laugh
and the singing sword just reminds me of the one from Who Framed Rodger Rabbit..... whee

Jareths magic crystal from The Labyrinth, I know Sara doesn't take it, but it can give you what ever you wish for. Unlimited wishes people. Or any type of good dragon, from any fantasy, as long as they are a magic user.

I would want Legolas's bow and quiver from Lothlorien, and lots of arrows... smile I think Celeborn put a spell on that quiver, so it had Everlasting Arrows. smile And yes, I sure would like to have it on Gaia. I wish they'd create a whole set of LOTR Elven items, robes, weapons, accessories... it would SO rock. smile

Want a new question? OK!
No. 25 New Question of the Month/Week:
What is it that fascinates you the most about your favorite fantasy or medieval concept? Is it just one thing? Feel free to elaborate, just don't go nuts with a really long explanation. sweatdrop

... Far-off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, and a prince in disguise!.... That mostly covers it...
~ oh and I really love the idea of magical items that take a person from "our world" to some other fantasy realm.

The medieval era was just a more personal time. Warfare was up close and personal. Rule was up close and personal. Diplomacy was up close and personal (wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean?). And according to the teaching of the time, every art was related to every other (sword fights were likened to debates, for instance) and reflected both the intelligence and grace of a person. So, basically, the pervading idea of the time was that you could learn a lot more about a person from just one action than we typically think of today. It's a fascinating concept.

Question for the Second Week of June: (that would be #26)
If you could be one person from history for one day ONLY--midnight to midnight--who would it be, and why?
Extra point question: if you could change history during those 24 hours, what would you change--and why? Think through the ramifications before you reply... *grin*

Heh. I'd probably be Hodur and not attend the party at Breidalblik, thus not be tempted to listen to Loki...
Of course the bad news is that someone else would end up killing Balder and I'm not sure I could live with that. There's a good theological reason for it all I guess.
In regular history I guess I'd like to be Henry VIII for a day and NOT off Anne Boleyn. As spectacular as their daughter was, can you imagine what a son of theirs would have been like? All he had to do was forgive her and lay off scaring her for a bit...
But then Elizabeth might have been palmed off on someone and been a kick-butt queen for another kingdom. Darn those ramifications.
