"Oh well, I guess my luck wasn't going to last. But I still have plenty of tokens, so it's not a problem." Ananda pulled two tokens back out of her backpack, laying them down on the counter to buy yet another game. "This time I'll be more careful," she promised herself. She took time to aim carefully between each shot, ignoring where the webbing landed even though she could hear it splat on something, until she had finished.

"Well, I guess I just needed some practice," said Ananda when she looked up to see that one of her webs had actually hit, and the other two had been very close. Collecting her winnings, she decided to keep playing. She took aim again, and fired in the same way she had the last time, not bothering to look at where the web landed.

"Oh. I guess I spoke too soon," said Ananda dejectedly when she looked at the targets. The bases were coated in webbing, but not a single shot had hit the actual target. "Hmm...well, I guess I'll give it another try. I still have a few more games before I have to go." She pressed the trigger of her web gun once for each of the targets, getting her aim quickly between shots and listening for each splat.

Ananda said nothing when she saw that two of her shots had hit, but nodded in a satisfied way. She debated for a minute whether she should keep spending tokens, but shrugged. "After all," she said to herself, "it's not like I can end up with less than I started with now, even if I were to lose every game. Knock on wood," she added superstitiously. She paid for a new game, and sent her shots spinning quickly at the targets.

"Two again. Not bad," commented Ananda. "But I know I can get all three. Come on, come on." She bought another game, but stood for a minute with her eyes closed. Then, she laughed. "Wow. I'm getting way too worked up about this. It's just a game!" Not bothering to open her eyes, she fired three shots blindly, still laughing, in the general direction of the targets, then started to walk away.

"Miss! Wait, miss!" The man in charge of the game ran up behind Ananda, puffing slightly. "What?" she asked coldly. "Look, I dunno how you did it, but you hit all the targets. Here. Your tokens. And if I find out you cheated..." He waggled a finger at her "I'll take them back." "I didn't cheat," Ananda growled, then remembering her manners, added "but thank you." Then, stuffing the new tokens in the bag, she kept walking. When she thought the man couldn't hear her anymore, she let out a squeal of delight. Then, spotting a game she hadn't tried yet, she walked up to it. "Hmmm. Another target game. Well, I have time for a couple more games, I guess. It's expensive, but I have plenty of tokens." She paid out ten tokens, and began to shoot targets, watching her character and the bear.

"Oh. Well, that's no fun," said Ananda, watching the bear eat her character. It was rather gruesome for a game at a school, and she turned away. "I don't like this game. Dunno why they brought it to a school, it's morbid. I think I'll quit and go look for Rille. She probably came out here to the festival to hide from me, since there're so many people." She wandered off into the festival, shoving the tokens into her bag as she went.

"Okay! Time to start another day of big token wins!" Hikaru cheerfully declared as she bounced up to the GET IN THE VAN game again. Laying down five tokens, she grabbed up the dolls and began expertly tossing them toward the van.

Not the best start... In her excitement, Hikaru had managed to miss the van with all four of the dolls. Giving a glum sort of half-frown, she pushed five more tokens toward the booth vendor and decided to have a second shot at it.

A better showing this time around. One of the dolls landed in the van, and the BONUS light above the game flashed this time as well. Eight tokens came sliding Hikaru's way, and she nodded and tried again, hoping she could win a lot more as the day went on.

Broke even. Ah well. Hopefully things would start looking a little better after a few more tries. It took a little while to build up the right rhythm yesterday, after all. Not letting the result get her down, Hikaru grabbed the dolls and started pitching them back at the van again.

So close to getting two dolls in! Just like the last few times, she managed to sink one doll into the van, but the second one ricocheted off the side. Snapping her fingers, but smiling as the BONUS light lit up again, Hikaru gathered up the dolls and kept trying again.

All of the dolls missed this time. Hikaru frowned. This wasn't shaping up to be a very good day for playing this game. The BONUS light saved her from a total loss, but she was clearly becoming discouraged. Sighing, she realized there was nothing to do but to press bravely onward.

Yes! A big win this time! Hikaru managed to sink three of the four dolls into the van, earning her a whopping 20 tokens! Grinning, she forgot all about her previous bad feelings about the game, convinced that her luck was finally about to turn around. Grabbing the dolls and paying for another game, she pitched them toward the van with renewed fervor.

Awesome! Again! And this time she got a bonus, too! Twenty-three tokens came sliding across the counter and into Hikaru's waiting hands. She was all smiles as she paid for her next game, very pleased with the showing she was starting to make. Apparently all it took was a little warming up!
