I'd want more characters (special ones), like Arha the Dark Father... >_<

I wouldn't mind the Talos being a vehicle either, as long as it keeps skimmer I'm more than happy with it. n_n

If all weapons become assault it'd be more fluffy, since Dark Eldar is a hit-and-run force, heavy weapons and rapid fire doesn't fit in.

Too bad, since the Scourges are the best looking units they have. If only they weren't so useless in a Dark Eldar force

And what do you mean with that?

I love the scourges, they're perfect fire support, giving them 4 splinter cannons is the best choice, giving assaulting units a covering fire before attacking, hoping to weak down the enemy.

Hell, splinter cannons have to be one of the best weapons in the game! 4 basically bolter shots at 24 inches assualt? Death on toast.

Oh, Serebrate, there's an irony in the "Checkmate" in your signature being an illegal move. xd

Well, the problem is they're heavy supportt units without the bonus of having stats that reflect it. They have a high 5+ armor save, a toughness 3 so can be taken out with a Guardsman's flashlight, and all of their weapons are relatively short range in comparison of with the rest of Dark Eldar or outside races. They need an effective way to retreat after they shoot with higher saves. Scourges are Heavy Support, so shouldn't they have more armor and something harder hitting than a Splinter gun to fill this roll?

They also have a pretty weapons high cost, a squad costing from 80-160 for a squad without any upgrades which is fine, but then it gets a bit dubious. To get a Splinter Cannon it's an additional 20 points or 25 for Dark Lances and even then only four of the Scourges can have it.

If they're preforming a heavy support roll, it's also a bit odd to have wings on them since they're not going to be moving a whole lot ( Which Dark Eldar, oddly have to keep doing ). They should just make wings wargear.

I personally think they look great, but they need a re-write so that they don't become bolter fodder.

@ DarkElf

That's the point.

I do agree that the saves on 'em suck, but you forget:

-=The Dark Eldar are meant to be a swift moving strike force with the durability of a handful of glass shards.=-

I would very much like to see some of them become more durable, and the Scourges are one of them. However, if Dark Lances become Assault weapons, they'd become so ridiculously deadly that it just hurts to think about it.

Which is why most Dark Eldar armies you have wont see Scourges. They just aren't great for hit and run combat at all. They don't have the Fleet of Foot ability and do a poor job in filling the roll their assigned. Given, they may fill it magnificently for one turn they will probably end up sitting in one spot for a while afterwards. I'd like to see them in the rewrite as a fast attack choice and with higher mobility, and more of a hit-and-run nature as Dark Eldar Warriors have.

Well, they already have their wings. That pretty much ensures that they move at the maximum range of a fleet of foot movement.

The biggest problem is that they're entirely too points heavy. They'd be good fast attack choices, too. You're right...they're not good Heavies at all. Its just that the Dark Eldar don't have any heavies to speak of aside from the Ravagers.

...but their wings are all but useless in the first couple of terms, anyway.

On an unrelated note, how do Dark Eldar continue to survive as a race? They are extremely limited in numbers and don't seem to be the type of lovingly raise a family (They'd probably eat their kids). With Mandrakes, Hellions, and all sorts of nasties lurking around Commoragh killing off their own you'd think they'd be gone by now. Not to mention those Archons want soul sacrifices.

Maybe as Eldar start to grow insane, they'd find themselves more and more welcome around Commaragh, or around other Dark Eldar strongholds. Also, I think as Eldar would become psychotic, they'd form into splinter fleets of Dark Eldar ships, slowly mustering up a new crew of pirates.

That or they steal the young of the Eldar, if there really are any to speak of. Then they take them in and raise them in the overly hostile environment of Cormorragh.

I'd point out that Eldar Pirates and Dark Eldar are different, and just because a fleet of Eldar preys on other ships does not make them Dark Eldar.
