I have a question about the Orks. My brother plays Orks, and so far he has his warboss, 2 warbikes, stormboys, 8 shoota boys, 10 slugga boys (2 have burnas). I was wondering what he should get next (in your opinion). Any input? He wants alot of boyz and vehicles, and I wasn't sure exactly what he should get.

boyz in buggies are neat, and stormboyz are damn evil if they get into combat 4 attacks each on the charge, saves against are 4+ or worse.

Yeah Stormboys are pretty deadly. I just thought of something that might change the results of my question a bit. He mostly plays against Space Marines (me) so I figured that might have some effect on the units he needs.

I need some suggestions for assembling an Ork Army to go up against the Tau.

I have never fought the Tau with my orks, and my Roommate just set aside his space marine army to play Tau. I dont know much about his force yet except that he has been paining 3 Broadsides, and he has a bunch of Gun Drones and some Fire Warriors... beyond that I have no idea what he has purchased yet.

Whats the best combo of Greenskins to take on these guys?

I'd say a hoard of greenskins all mounted in trucks or on bikes. I think you want to try and get into cc with the tau as fast as possible becuase once there the tau wil die. However at long range their sub-munition railguns and pulse rifles will wreak havoc against the boyz. Suffice to stay, try not to stay out of combat or out in the open. And any non-mounted unit should be big.

What would you guys suggest I do with my(currently non existent) army so they can stand up against both nids and marines.

Haha, Pray. They are gonna eat you alive 8 out of 10 times.

numbers. Numbers numbers numbers.

Only thing I have found that works for the orks.

Did I mention Numbers?

Youre very comforting. I was think lots of bikes and kannon's also two big swarms of grots to distract them so i can move in somthing that can you know, acctualy hurt them.

Trust me, grots don't distract anyone, becuase they get munched in both combat or shooting. Their only good point is that there is billoins of them, so they tie up units, until you fail that morale check and they flee screaming, never to return.

I agree with the numbers idea. Orks are the bane of Marines in CC, as the choppas limit the marines to a max save of 4+ (and this includes Terminators) and have enough attacks that they could hold their own against 'nid swarms. Their trukks may be made out of cardboard, but they red 'wunz get there quick enough for that to not matter.

As for weapons, Rokkits and Burnas scare the crap out of me, my necrons and my marines (even if it is orks who are using them).

When playing against Space Marines (or pretty much anyone) Orks need Fire. Tell him to build a pair of maxed out Burna Boy squads with Meks leading them. The Orky Burna is not just a standard flamer, but also a power weapon in close combat and a weapon that rolls 2d6 for armor penetration. The squad of 10 Orks with 3 power weapons and whatever the Mek has makes for thousands of dead Marines.

Most of my opponents are Tau, and I have never lost to them. What works best is giving your Warboss a Cybork Body and a Power Claw, then get him in a trukk and run him at everyone. Also the Painboss as an HQ gets an entire squad of S4, T5, 5+ Invulnerable Boyz with him equipped with Choppas. Aside form that, max out your Big Shootas by minimizing squad size. Yes most Ork players are scared of doing this, but I very rarely use Mobs larger than 12 because they're just unweildy and slow. Two or three Trukks, and as much Big Shoota firepower as you can summon to the field. One of the Trukks will make it to close combat, and so long as that trukk has a Power Klaw in it you've basically won right there. But the real danger is the Big Shootas. Tau players always ignore the Boyz that stay back, but those Big Shootas -will- tear thru every last squad of drones, Fire Warriors, Kroot, and Crisis Suits your opponent musters. If you're lucky by the time the Trukks arrive the only thing left to take out will be a half strength HQ and the Broadsides. And if you're any good at all with Guess weapons, take 2 units of 3 Lobbas. Their ability to Pin Fire Warriors is incredibly useful, and thier points cost is blessedly cheap. And pray they don't have too many Tanks.

Hmm. Thats interesting.

My HQ now consists of a Warboss with a Cybork Body and a 'uge choppa in a trukk with 5 meganobs and a squig. its like a 500 point unit (yeah I know) but in MOST cases it tears thru whatever I get it up to. Ill have to consider a painboss (i did a wicked conversion to make a Dok out of a regular boy and have yet to use him) but Id need to get some Cyborks.

Dont forget that they make cheap mobile cover for real units.
