:::She stood in place, and tried to look him back in the eye. She couldn't help but swallow hard. She'd saved the man's life, and defended his name, but she'd never seen him quite so closely before.
She couldn't imagine what kind of fate lie ahead of her, and what he was going to tell her about it. If he had nothing to say, she was afraid not to now. And if he knew exactly what to say, she was afraid of what she would hear. But she'd waited for it, and it was time:::
Well..?

*Tavin placed a finger against Cora's lips, and then suddenly hugged her, tight, and wouldn't let go*
I'm so sorry, Cora, I'm so very, very, very sorry....
*Tavin just kept hugging her and repeating himself*

:::Her shoulders fell, half in exhaust from reliefe of suspense and half so that she could retrun the embrace.
He wasn't the cold creature she thought she'd have to badger an answer out of...he was another goodbye:::
:::She began to cry, as her arms folded all the way around him:::
Please...just let it be over...

Shhhhh......
*Tavin spoke, calmly*
It will be, it will be. For better or for worse, it will be. Cora... I..... It is going to be tough for you. VERY tough for you. Please remember.... As long as you can..... all of us. We will never forget you....... NEVER.
*As Tavin spoke, Cora faded away, still in his embrace. A shock ran through the Brink of Time, like a dull thud that could be felt, and Tavin dropped to his knees, letting out a scream so loud that the force of it knocked books off shelves, and he pounded at the floor, in a rage, sobbing all the while*

**Enter Mystina from the Bar**
I wonder... What happened here?! *She blinks, looking around at the destruction left in the wake*
*Mystina examines everything, then decides it best to leave, and go tell the others what she found...*
**Exit Mystina to the bar**

** meanwhile in the conveniently soundproof chamber **
"Dawn take you all, and be stone to you!" said a voice that sounded like William's. But it wasn't. For just at that moment the light came over the hill, and there was a mighty twitter in the branches. William never spoke for he stood turned to stone as he stooped; and Bert and Tom were stuck like rocks as they looked at him. And there they stand to this day, all alone, unless the bird perch on them; for trolls, as you probably know, must be underground before dawn, or they go back to the stuff of the mountains they are made of, and never move again. That is what had happened to Bert and Tom and William....
*Kyle stifles a little yawn*
I'm kind of thirsty.

*Maggie looks up from the book as Kyle yawns. She'd been carefully following along as he read, and gotten just as enthralled by the story as he did. Now that she looks at him, though, she can see that he's probably a little past ready for some sleep*
I think perhaps 'tis time we took a rest from reading, anyways, *she suggests, then offers* Here now, I'll get ye something te drink . .
*she starts to rise, but then sits back down as it occurs to her that there's really no need for her to go all the way out to the bar when she could just as easily conjure something in. So, she closes her eyes in concentration, and lifts her hands up to grasp a glass of water as it materializes in them*

*Maggie smiles a bit sheepishly - she probably should have given him a little warning. She's becomed accustomed enough to the Brink that pulling things out of thin air doesn't seem so strange to her anymore*
Ehm, only a wee bit, when I'm here. *she holds the glass out to him* I'mna very good at it yet.

*Kyle takes the glass of water and drinks it down*
No, you're really good. Roally good. Could you teach me? Maybe I could do it too... do you think I could? huh?
*but as he says this, he fades out and the glass and book fall to the floor*
** Exit Kyle **

*Maggie bends to retrieve the glass and the book, marking the page where they left off and setting both on the study desk*
Be well, Kyle .. *she says, after him. She turns to open the door again, fading out just as she steps through it*
**Exit Maggie**

** Enter Bard **
*Bard fades in sitting dozing in a chair at the reading tables. He stirs slightly, reaches his hand out and when it touches the table, he jerks awake. Standing , he turns and realizes he's in the library and...*
Jesus Christ, what happened in here???
*he stares at the chaos in disbelief*

**Enter Maggie**
*Maggie flickers in mid-step amidst the bookshelves, coming to a halt as she registers first the change, and then the state of the library*
Oh, Heavens! *she takes a few steps forward, looking around cautiously for whatever may have caused such a mess. She comes into view of the study tables and pauses again when she sees who's there*
. .. Bard . . .

*Bard blinks his voice tinged with confusion* Maggie...
*he walks toward her, still eyeing the utter disarray of the library*
What happened here? Who could have done this....
... you don't think... the Seraphim....?

*Maggie shakes her head, just as perplexed* I dinna know . . . last I was here, nothing seemed amiss . ..
*she frowns deeply at the mention of the Seraphim* God in Heaven, I hope he hasna found a way in here again . . .
