i think its mostly to explain what taka's balls (...) are all about.

I only have Eikoden, so I can't comment on all but what was said about Mayo.

I truly don't care much for her myself, but a side of me does take pity on her. While she may have been cruel and lied about what happened between her and Taka, not all of it was her. Jealousy has a way of making people vulnerable, just like lonliness can. To an extent, she reminded me of Yui, with the differences of their upbringing. Yui was brought into a loving family, but very busy which did have a hand in helping her maturity level become greater than the average 14 year old. Mayo was raised in a broken family where she was striving for attention, negative or positive. Which caused a childlike crush to turn into a complete lie/ dream. When she got what she wanted, she didn't care what happened for it. But, in the end, she did see where she did mess up and did pay part of her dues. It did seem kinda cheesy because Taka did forgive her, but it was also a touching because it was one of the most pure gestures she may have received in a while.

So, its summer and all, and since I don't start work until Monday I've had a lot of time on my hands to kill. I've been cleaning and putting various anime I've already watched on as background noise. I put Fushigi Yuugi on just because I hadn't watched it in so long, and when I got tired of cleaning I was working on accessories for my Takiko costume anyway... but YEA! Point of this:

With the release of Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden I was really curious to go back and see how Takiko's story was relayed again in Fushigi Yuugi. Well, I've already found one HUGE discrepancy from series to series. We first even get wind of Genbu and its Miko/Seishi when Miaka goes to Hokkan for Genbu's Shinzaho. Since Takiko was 200 yrs/70 yrs pre-Miaka (book time/real world time) it was stated in the series that no one could agree with how Takiko came to possess the Shinzaho. Well, when we talk to Hikitsu and Tomite in the cavern they blatantly state she received the Shinzaho when she summoned Genbu.

Fast forward to Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden volume three:

Takiko CLEARLY receives that same necklace well before summoning Genbu is even thought of. I really won't state from whom and why, 'cus that would spoil things, but at this point there's only three Seishi, the fourth is in turmoil and one doesn't even want to be a Seishi. So yea, my red flags went up immediately when I think it was Hikitsu that stated that. He wasn't even in the picture when she got the necklace x_X

I just found it interesting, and am looking forward to seeing what other loopholes in the story that are going to show themselves. I'm going to see about looking in the manga though to see if that's there also, since I've only checked the anime.

I hate that so many of my favorite characters died. I cried each time one of them died.
