No, actually, I mean that it has valves, along with the slide. I'll see if I can find a picture of it sometime.

Gasp! I'm not the only person on this board with "tuba" in their username?! Tubagurl, you rock!
Anyhoo, you can tell what one of my instruments is... I also play trombone. And piano, but that's outside of school, and not in the low brass section... I'm so excited though, we got a saxophone & a bari sax to switch to tuba today! So now we've got five tuba players!

does it tickle sumtimes when you play your instrument?? cuz like i tried a tuba once and it tickled majorly! redface lol but i was wondering if i did it wrong or if that happens to everyone

It tickled a little bit the first and last time I tried.
My main instrument is the trombone. But my second main is the basson...which for some reason my school places in the low brass section. Sorta like the bari sax.

Just a question for trombone players: What brand do you have? I currently have Yamaha, but I'm not happy with it at all. >_< I'm leaning towards an Edwards, but I'm up for suggestions. :3

Yea, it is weird. It's really not even a trombone, if you'll notice the fact that you don't see any place that the slide slides. It's just got a trombone's sound and shape, with another valved brass instrument's soul. It's for people who aren't hardcore enough to play a real trombone, I guess...
