Severin nodded and tried to speak as little as possible, he was never terribly fond of the action. The woman seemed to be rather hateful and upset with everything, the world especially, and he assumed this was because of her handicapped leg. Those who are crippled tend to become distant and cynical. This he only assumed of course, since there were many other viable reasons as to her personality.

He accepted the water bowl and cloth, and carefully balanced it, struggling to keep his hands inside of his jacket sleeves. It'd be best if they remained unseen by anyone else.
"If.. If you would like to help, I do not think Miss Hikari would mind.." Dr. Oddssen said, talking slowly and quietly, and rather unsure.

Hikari fidgeted in her spot as she stared down at her sister. What is wrong with you? she honestly didnt know the answer to the question that plagged her, and was faintly hoping that Severin could figure out.

Though that hope was nothing but a bare spark she kept in the back of her mind, knowing just what kind of doctor he truely was. Her hands floated purely out of habit to her necklace her hand instantly covering the small promise ring as fiddled with it nervously.

A small cough escaped her lips and she looked up surprised that it had come from her. Her hands instantly released her ring to cup her mouth as an onslaught of coughs came. She even attempted to close her mouth to keep the sounds muffled.

A pink blush painted her cheeks as she looked around out of the corner of her eyes to make sure no one else had heard her coughs before scooting a little farther away from Yami so as to not get her any sicker then she was already.

It was no surprise really. Standing out in the ran in her dress like that. She was asking to get a cold really. If she wasnt so worried about Yami and Severin she would have probably knocked her head against the nearest wall in hopes to gain some sense in that thick skull of hers.

A small sigh escaped her lips as she looked up at the ceiling, wondering just how much longer the day was planning on being.

Larry had been about to offer Annie the yet-unnamed child when Severin shuffled over, looking nervous and upset and not the least bit like he had when he had given those first few calming commands.

Annie's disposition changed too, unexpectedly.

Larry had a running theory on this.

When you approached a dog, if you were friendly and acted as if you knew the dog, the dog reflected that. First the dog would be confused, because it wouldn't remember your smell, but after a moment it would think, "Well, look! This person wouldn't be acting this way if they were somebody suspicious! I must know them after all!" And soon the dog would be belly up. The downside, of course, is that it worked the opposite way too.

Maybe there was a certain energy to it. Larry thought so. The trick was really meaning it, really liking the dog, and some people just couldn't do it. Larry didn't have any difficulties. He liked dogs, even the ones that looked unfriendly.

Larry's theory only worked in the majority of cases. Sometimes there were just genuinely nice dogs. You could be breaking into their owner's home and they'd help you do it. Most dogs didn't fall into this category. Larry liked to think that if he was a dog, he would be able to distinguish, but sometimes got the sneaking suspicion that he wouldn't.

He busied himself with Miriam, her horns and hair worrying him more and more. Now that he thought about it, they could really get in trouble! Maybe he really should postpone the search for another day. He knew this establishment wasn't along the way...they must have taken a wrong turn somewhere...and of course Severin had that limp. The weather was frightful. The mission had been put to a halt anyway... Larry thought suspiciously that it might be his luck, for good or bad, kicking in again.

He didn't like to linger on this sort of negative thinking! He was a man of action! All this contemplation was terribly boring.

Larry replaced Miriam, and stood, resolute, making his way over to the Doctor. He kept squirming, dancing from one foot to the other.

"Hey, uh, Doc...I'm sorry if I'm interrupting anything...you got a minute? It's really important."

Dr. Severin turned, his face a picture of puzzlement. His eyesbrows were raised, which lifted his hat slightly, and he was holding his bottom lip in his teeth lightly. "Erm... Yes, Larry?" He asked, frowning a bit when he noticed his friend's anxious hopping about.

Larry managed to verbalize the entire problem in one breath.

"Well at first I thought it might have just been me, but really I've had such phenomenally good luck the first half of the day that it's only fair things should go the other way this half. My grandmother was a witch you see, father's side, helped him get my mother. Dashed contrary when it came to gifts. And I've just realized I probably need a kerchief or something for the kid's horns before something happens. Because it will...you've seen the rain and of course your leg, and this girl's just fainted and everything's working in reverse to counteract everything this morning I'm sure, not that it's any real trouble, but if we could conclude things I rather think I should go home, or if you're not done I'll scoot along by myself, because I also think we managed to go the opposite direction from where we should have been going."

The Doctor nodded slowly, trying to sort the hastily said words out in his mind. As usual, he took a moment to think things over before responding slowly, quite the opposite of his friend. The two were a comical pair to watch, what with their varied differences. "I think I will being staying here until Miss Yami has regained consciousness. It wouldn't quite feel right leaving her," he concluded, and tilted his head in thought.

"I can understand your need to go, what with a child and all.. Yesyes.. the horns.. do make a problem also." It was clear the Severin hadn't quite gotten accustomed to the peculiar child, either, but made no specific show of it. "I'll stay to make sure all is well, you can head home."

That had been the gist of it. Mostly.

"Right, I understand. I feel the same way, but I'm sure if you see to things, they'll turn out alright. Oh...well, I don't want this to be a sort of permanent goodbye affair, my case still isn't concluded, and anyway I'd like to see more of you. Did you want to shoot for another meeting, or should I just give you my address...?"
His voice dropped to a whisper. "You could pop by any time you like, but of course I can't guarantee when I'd be home...and you'd have to be very secretive about it, because I promised...well, I...oh, but I'm sure you'll be alright. You just can't show anyone else. I keep..." His voice grew lower. "A sort of pet, you see, and have to be careful about her."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 05, 2006 10:14 pm

The Doctor nodded steadily with most everything that Larry said, as was the usual way conversation went with them. He pursed his lips thoughtfully at the mention of a pet, curious as to what Larry might have in his home. He didn't seem the type to harbour dangerous animals. Then again.. his new daughter did have horns.

"Your address would be best, because I can't guarantee I'd be open to meet at a given time." Dr. Severin said, his eyes glancing to Hikari, Yami, then Annie before finally resting on Larry once more.

Larry found his notebook, working around Miriam and writing down instructions in blocky, childhish handwriting.

He handed the paper to Severin covertly, glancing at the gaggle of girls behind the Doctor, then said, "Now this is my address, right here. I live in the Northern bit of the Lost District. I've told that you before, but there was a fire a little back and I haven't had time to redecorate. It's really only the first floor that looks worn. I live on the one below that, it's a sort of basement, and kind of easy to miss."

He pointed at a set of directions on the lower part of the paper. "Just pay attention to where you are and you'll be able to find it. I've got it more in detail here. It will probably be locked, so just give it a good knock, and if I'm not there feel free to leave me a note."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 05, 2006 10:28 pm

Dr. Oddssen nodded and carefully placed the note inside of his pocket that held the Death tarot, of which he had not thought about until this moment. He kept a frown off of his face and pushed the thoughts away for the moment. "I shall have no torubles finding it, hopefully, I can bet you give good directions.. being what you are and all."

"We shall see eachother soon, and find what was lost." The Doctor said, a smile slipping unto his lips. Being in the presence of the bouncy Larry, it was hard not to grin-atleast a bit. He extended his nonbitten hand for a handshake casually, knowing that there were some scratches, but not many.

"It's in the job description!" Larry agreed, taking the Doctor's hand.

Larry felt everything...the case, the girl, the weather, would turn out alright. He might have misjudged. After all, if it weren't for the rain, they wouldn't have gotten turned around and come by in time to help the girl. And Severin's leg might have earned some sympathy from the woman who worked there...yes, rethinking, perhaps it had all been very good luck instead of very bad. These things were often slippery.

"I'll...uh...catch you later, Doc. Don't hesitate to come by. I'll be expecting a visit. And this time stay out of the way of street riffraff, huh? Next time just look intimidating and wave your arms around. You're big enough to give whoever it is a good scare."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 05, 2006 10:57 pm

The doctor nodded and continued to grin, he wasn't the best with goodbyes, but he didn what he could. After shaking Larry's hand, he lifted it in a simple goodbye, his head tilted to the side slightly. "I won't hesitate, do not fret. I would like to check up and how you and child are doing, see if all is well and such."

Severin pursed his lips at the mention of street troubles, but he gave a dry laugh in an attempt to sound cheery. "I'll make sure to flail about rather nicely next time, that will scare anyone off. If not form fear of being hit, then fear of a madman."

"Nah, I think you're better off with the size scare tactic. They'll only think you're crazy if you make faces, too."

Larry grinned and added, as an afterthought.

"Goodbye to you too, Annie! I know I've said it before, so you must be tired of hearing it, but we really appreciate you letting us use the place. I'm sure Doc couldn't help her as much out in the middle of that mess as he is with a roof. That's kind of obvious, I guess, but you didn't have to do what you did, and you've got our gratitude. ...Take care."

And Larry took off.

It took him a little longer to make his way back home and dry off, but in time he was neatly settled.

He regarded the baby once more.

"Still no name. Heck, I'm no good at this at all, am I? Wish I could ask mum. She named eight kids, and dad wouldn't let her use anything but Ls, so she had to be a real whiz. But we've been over this. No Ls. I think mum would appreciate it, she always wanted to use...well, we'll do that, then. Miriam. M comes right after L, and mum was always fighting for it, being so close and all. Next letter I can get out I'll tell her she has a daughter, or granddaughter, or something like it with that name, and I'm sure it'll cheer her up a little. That fine with you, Princess? Alright. Why don't we shake on it...there you are. Fifi, did you hear that? Miriam. Now everything's settled properly."

(( And I'm gone until the 16th. -salutes- ))

"Sounds like a waste of talent," Mercy answered as she decided that they should try through a covered alley, "I guess if it was something that you love then there is no worry that you would possible forget how to do it, I mean, being able to run a ship and stay out to the water." She shook a moment as the cover was better then being drenched by the not so clean rain water.

"I wonder what the sea is like? Is it as salty as they say?" she had addressed the question a little low more for herself then for anyone else, but it was loud enough for anyone near could have heard.
Zasar brightened considerably at the comment. A waste of talent, his talent! Oh, if he could run a ship again! Sail the seas, shouting commands, raiding, pillaging, and when he got his hands on it, sitting back with his feet up, and a nice bottle of fine wine. A little different from the harsher of drinks availably consumed on a daily basis.

The captain inhaled deeply and breathed out in a long sigh, keeping his lips curled up in the brightest of wild grins. “Ai! You can smell theh salt. Every day. An’ when you geh used teh it, land juss smells like fresh wa’er.” He paused to mull over this discovery. “I dunno why, really. Juss theh lack’ve salt n’ theh air. Guess ih smells like rain.”

Emi stopped walking and slowly raised her head up and looked around, she was still in the Lost district but it was still raining, as she herself was completly drenched. She lowered her head and continued to walk, after a couple of steps she stumbled but regained her step and stood there for a moment before she walked over to a building and sat down next to the wall.

She then looked at both of her hands, moving them every so often till she lowered them, she then looked at the ground for a moment before she closed here eyes. Letting herself continue to be drenched by the rain, and trying to compress her past and the pain inside herself.
