Our team is too "special" lol to handle rifles this year (we lost all of our rifle line except one from last year) but that means we are wicked on flag. I don't think we're using spin flags this year, but you can toss those I assure you-just takes a little more technique in catching them. Our school is new to the area, and just last year (I was only a roadie-but I caught onto spinning quite quickly) we took 3rd in state prelims and 4th in state finals-the first team of any sport at our school to place. It was so awesome! Our show this year is "I need a Hero" from Shrek 2-our team is known for doing fun yet emotional shows. Last year we did a numa numa English/Romanian mix, and it's on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uXI-ojmfuogranted we couldn't pull it off very clean, but it still makes me smile. Soapy Sponge is our captain this year. She rox. I'm so excited for this winterguard season! it being my first season performing besides MB of course wink

I love parallels (horizontals)... They were so much fun for me, excet when the slik is huge and you're out on the field in the boondocks (or whatever its called)... The flag has a problem staying in one spot... Parallels on rifles are freakin' sweet though... That was like my major thing that i was good at, besides doing the twirly thing behind my back (all equipment...

I was just a flag for the last 3 years in guard. Until this past marching band season when everyone had to do a rifle feature. I actually threw and caught the quad at every competition except one OMEA competition. Defiantly not perfect, that's for sure, but still . . . I caught it! =P
Anyway, I loved rifle to death so our rifle tech. asked me if I was interested in taking privet lessons during winter guard and then I can join the rifle line next season.
I never had so much fun in a show. Especially at Prelims-Grand Nats. I did so well, I felt. ^^
I will now be evil and do a small bit of bragging...even though I'll bite myself for it. Xp.... I toss a really really mean 45 with my flag.

Green Archer Isn't horizontals called paralles???? Well i like weapon line period this year we had to sign up for what equipment we wanted to do i wanted both but they put me on rifle but today we learned that the rifle line is touching everything, as in saber, rifle (Fav), and flag. Oh, well i can throw a 5 and can chuck a 6 and 1/2 (Brag) on rifle and last year we learned to toss a double under a flag and turn and catch. lol, we call them helicotpet tosses. i can do a helicopter and an underhand butterfly toss turn around and catch it. i'm the only one who can do that on my squad! i can do a triple too! it took me forever to do, and it makes me soooo happy every time i do it! xd anyway, yah this is my last year, im a senior. crying ya'll shoulda seen me at our last home game, i balled! i never got to do rifles or sabres. we're a small town school, but we did get to do hula hoops and swingflags. we had a t flag, but never got to use it.
