"It's okay. Everything will be okay." Amaya sniffed and pulled him into an embrace, her scaley arms hugging around his fins and hugging him to her chest.
"You're still you. You still think for yourself."

She sounded so convinced as she said those things to him, it was somewhat calming to feel someone's arms around him as he listened and tried to calm himself down. This wasn't any different. Life would continue, things would go on as they always have. He slowly wrapped his arms around the iguana girl in return, yet his shoulders wouldn't stop shaking.
Infact he was trembling all over his body now as if in some hypothermic shock. His optimism was fighting to break through, urged on by Amaya's concerned voice and he probably would've believed her.... had he been able to stand.
"Weh... Weh m-... m-legs... M'le-... legs...." His voice was broken up by his gasping sobs, clinging furiosuly to Amaya's form though he was spasming, as if crushing her would make everything go away. "M'LEEEGS!" The tears kept flowing in a non-stop torrent of cries as he lost control, screaming into her shoulder over and over again. "LEEEGS!!! M'LEGS!!! M'LEEE-HEGS...."

Amaya weapt tearlessly as she squeezed him tight, allowing him to hug her and scream and cry until he exhausted himself. The side of her snout pressed against the back of his neck as the teen sobbed over her shoulder. She closed her eyes and ran her palm up and down his back the best she could around the fins that stuck out.
Slowly her body rocked his with her's back and forth, the only other gesture she could think of to try and comfort him.

Alec allowed himself to be rocked, forgetting for a moment where he was and what was happening as he rested the tip of his nose on the top of her shoulder. His screaming had died down as he lost the energy to continue, though he probably would have for quite some time if he'd only had a drink of water.
He really was doomed now, wasn't he? This was no mistake. He was joining the ranks of those who were so far gone one could barely distinguish them as being human or animal, or anything in the scientific world. What was the future going to be like now? At the mercy of an awkward and malformed body and the ticking time bomb of his own genetic material. It was then he felt consumed with guilt and remorse, feeling the need to offer his life to Amaya for his sins. Life really was too short, it seemed.
"A'm sorreh 'Maya..." He began to choke out, wiping at his eyes with the rough bark on the backs of his hands until it hurt. "A'm so sorreh..." He repeated a few times over before struggling to detach himself.

"It's okay. Everything will be okay in the end." Amaya took a deep breath and let him pull away, though kept her hands on his shoulders.
"We really should get into the tub, your skin is drying out." She said.

Alec glanced over her shoulder again, spotting an abandoned bottle of water by the doorway. Without asking for help he began trying to crawl on his own over but soon found that the rough bark around his lower half was becoming caught on the carpet underneath, impeding his movement. He wouldn't ask for help. If he couldn't convince himself that he was at least capable of crawling than he was sure he would give up on life entirely.
Despite the abstruction, he managed to get within feet of the bottle before collapsing onto his belly with enough reach to grasp the bottle and consume its contents in record timing. The tub. Yes. Need more water. More. "'ow?" He grimaced back to the iguana girl. It was going to be hell; the bathroom never seemed farther away.

Amaya watched with a heavy heart as Alec dragged himself across the carpet, but she didn't dare interfer. It was something he needed to do for himself.
"I'll help you get there and then I'll order a wheelchair for you. Once it's here you should be able to get around well enough on your own." She said, remembering how Cassidy had to move around. Though from how fused his legs seemed to be, prostetics were out of the question.
"You're gonna havta help me get you to the tub though." The girl said as she walked over to his side and kneeled down by his side.

He cringed at the words she was speaking, wishing she'd just stop. He didn't want to hear about having a wheelchair, he didn't even want to image himself ever needing one. He could crawl whever he needed to go and when he got too tired he'd lay down and let the sun dry him to a crisp.
The boy wanted to lash out at something but he refused to let it be Amaya. She was here for him, she cared, she really cared. Right now she needed his help. With a weak nod, Alec sucked in a breath and rose to his knees with much effort before waiting for dictation on how this was going to work out.

Amaya looked down at him for a moment, sighing. She moved closer and looped one of his arms around her thick neck, holding it there. The other hand held his side.
"Push up with your legs as best you can. I can only carry you for short distances so it might take a few tries." She took a deep breath before heaving him upward, stepping slowly towards the bathroom as she carried him on her side.

Alec soon found that it was impossible to place weight on what was left of his legs, the fins so modified that they would never support his body even with help. Amaya would find the trek to the shower difficult as almost all of his mass was being propped up by the iguana girl. They eventually made it to the bathroom again, the boy doing his best to curl up comfortably in the bath tub before looking to Amaya with pleading eyes to turn the tap on for him. The cool water felt better already as it sloshed up his sides as the tub filled itself, a rather convenient rejuvination tactic. There wasn't even a need to undress.... he was already naked.

Indeed the trek to the bathroom was a very tiring one as Amaya had to drag the shark boy all the way across the room and then help him into the bathtub. Once there the cool water was turned on and she sat back on the toilet to catch her breath.
Ugh, why was she so tired? Maybe she was gaining weight or something... then again she had barely been eating anything for the past two months. She scratched at the tiny buldge in her stomach through her dress, careful not to rip the fabric.

Safe in the tub, the sharkboy allowed himself to sink down into the water up to the tip of his snout. His heart rate was finally beginning to decline and return to a normal pace, calming himself enough to heeve a sigh of relief... somehow. He was too tired to comtemplate the mechanisms, choosing to stare at the small bubbles forming around his nose instead. Glancing over slowly in the direction of the iguana girl, he motionlessly took in the sight in an attempt to distract himself from the anxiety welled up inside. Yellow. Nice. When had she started wearing dresses? Probably after their spat. Fights seemed to do that sort of thing. For some it caused intense emotional suffering while others never felt better.

After a moment of silence spanning between the two of them, Amaya finally released a sigh. Though unlike before, it was more worried than annoyed.
"I'll go call the labs for a wheelchair. You got a package too. I'll bring it back for you." With her hands on her knees she pushed herself to a stand, her clawed toes clicking on the tiled floor. She turned and headed out, her five-foot-long tail trailing behind her.

Alec furiously frowned as Amaya mentioned the wheelchair again. Was it just him, or was she rubbing it in? He admitted to himself that he was most likely just very sore on the subject, he wouldn't deny it. It didn't mean that he wanted to talk or think about it either.
Pbblllmg.... "Package?" The teen sputtered once he'd remembered to raise his chin above the surface again, though he found it hard to enunicate because for some reason his mouth had been filled with water. Grey eyes followed the girl with panic as she left the room, spilling water over the rim of the tub with his erratic movements. "Ye no' leavin'...?" He called out to her as he strained to look beyond the bathroom walls. "Righ'.... ye comin', back?" The innocent desperateness in his voice was apparent.

The tone of his voice almost made Amaya start crying tearlessly again. She stopped in her halfway trek to the intercom and turned back, her head poking into the bathroom so he could hear her.
"I won't leave until you want me to." She gave him a sad little smile. "I'm just gonna go call the labs and get your package and some of the food I brought for you, then I'll come right back. Okay?" She asked, looking down at him with sad yellow eyes.
