Saitou had the chance to avoid battle this time, but the demons could provide some useful experience for him as he tried to level up, whereas the spore itself was nearly useless to him. Avoiding it would be wise, and if he could cut down a swathe of demons as he made his escape it would help JPs in the short term, as well as possibly making things easier in the long run. If I'm careful about this, I think I can defeat several more demons before the spore explodes and get away scott free. Seems like a plan to me." Alice offered a whimsical nod, and with that Saito dashed in to deliver several powerful cuts to a couple of Barongs who'd happened to wander onto the set at a bad time. It was like an action movie with the way he moved from foe to foe dispensing of them one after another, but the stakes in this battle were all too real, and these copies of a mighty Hindu figure weren't going to slow him down one bit. Alioth was still in the sky watching with a dark and sinister air, and he wasn't going to let it see anything but himself at the top of his game, a sign of just what was to come for the damned flying Septentrione and it's damned ugly face. Saitou in turn smirked at the offer, taking the cup from his hands as he blew on the steam that was rising from the delicate and nicely balanced dish. This was one that required finesse to put together, the work of a well trained Chef rather than a simple kitchen cook, and that meant that Jungo had some prowess that was worthy of attention. "Thank you. I'll eat it happily." Saitou dug into the custard at once and took the first bite with glee, only to find a wonder of tastes dancing on his tongue from the ingredients he'd spotted on their way in. Seriously, this isn't rocket science," the King rubbed his temples as he sent the temporary-replacement crier away and called in a new one, each trying out for the post while the actual crier (a college radio DJ who had gotten bruised in a scuffle earlier and was being tended in the infirmary) was on medical leave. None of them, to date, had gotten his test-introduction as correct as he would have liked. Perhaps it had something to do with the ridiculous amount of information he had packed into this single (fake) character for the audition, but hey, if you wanted to serve the best you had to be ready for anything, right? "Any word on the demons, my Lady?" he asked his red-haired adviser as he waited for the next arrival, only to have her refer to a list of things, "First one only, please. I'm on a schedule."
She informed him of his Shiva's destruction of a horde of demons near Mandragora and let him return to his business. Pasupata was freaking amazing...too bad they couldn't get the big version of the Hindu Deity to use it on Alioth yet. Maybe another sexy party would do the trick? It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."He wasn't sure if the choice that he had made to let his new Kingdom stand on its own in the war to come was the right one, but it was far beyond the point of no return now. There was no going back to the world before he had declared his intentions, just as there was no going back to the world before the Calamity. Any of these other ideas were just backtracking along the line to Humanity's salvation or an ideal that simply couldn't be achieved by mankind if they wished to remain a productive, happy people. And in this Calamity they had discovered a power that would allow them to rise about who and what they had been before this moment in time, in this place, Harutopia, they had discovered a unity between humans and demons who worked together for a common goal and created something stable...something good...out of the chaos.
That was an ideal that he could stand by, even if others didn't understand. And he had to...but the invasion was already underway and a surprise pipe bomb (an actual damned PIPE BOMB) had been tossed by an Anarchist (he thought) into a trash can near one of their borders and forced several of their defenders back a line. Fortunately they had been setting up defenses for days against the demons, so preparing for the siege of humans wasn't all that much more difficult. Nobody was really ready for BOMBS or GUNS, though...he hoped they wouldn't be seeing a ton of those. Sure they had demons, but the summoners were still human. That was something they couldn't forget.

~Shinpachi Saito, Master of the Dark Persona~Okina was his town now, but it was also occupied by a an overly enthusiastic man-child who had one really good joke that he'd pushed too far. Now was the time for the adults to step forward, and Mashiba had refused to come back into reality. If there was anything like a friendship lingering between the two, then Saito had to do what he could to make Mashiba start taking the end of the world seriously, even if it meant standing opposed to him. He wouldn't let his friend spend the day in an isolation like this, when the fate of the world was at stake. The finale needed a personality like Mashiba influencing it in the right direction...he had to force him out of this corner, no matter what! "Mashiba! Mashiiiba! Come out here! I want to settle things, right now!" Saitou moved towards Harutopia, which he'd finally gotten directions to, and kept his hand near his sheath while his eyes scanned the horizon. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."Inside of the defensive walls of the Kingdom, Haruto really could have been anywhere; Saito and Ellie had both shown up looking for a fight and ended up calling out...one of them just for a fight and the other for a very specific fight with himself...but such shouting was entirely in vain if he wasn't even in that area of the Statio-
"Come on, don't you guys have any notion of how a game works? You don't just challenge the Boss out of the gate!" the King called as he stood up into a gap in the barricade...improbably right in the area they had come to first...and rolled his eyes with a faint, unreadable smile, motioning members who had fought for this Kingdom for days to his side, "You have to at least beat some of his companions, maybe a few mini-bosses first...Saito, I know Lira's had to at least teach you about that convention at your late night horror movie parties. ...You have those, right? Tell me you have those..."
Despite his attempts at keeping things light, however, there was nothing playful in the eyes of those who were rigidly defending a society that they had come to truly believe in in spite of all the odds against it. When they had all been tired, hurt, afraid...Harutopia had taken them in, walled them off from the dangers of the outside chaos, and done everything in their power to ensure that they survived with the power of their demons. How could you turn your back on a people who had gone so far...? Fought so hard for you? Even if the idea of a 'Kingdom' such as this one might not seem appropriate in the modern, had society really been so great if it turned out like this?
"Summoners...demons out! Aim for non-lethal blows, but defeat anyone from another faction who attacks our Kingdom!
