Their intent clear in their bodies. Luckily for her, she could run. Taking long strides, she outdistanced herself from them, to the safety of the herd. That was the first and last time as a young one she left the herd.
The rest urged her to to scout ahead when they went looking for her long strides would be far better to bring news back to them.

The mountain was typically quiet. In the winter, the snow dampened all the sounds, and even in the summer, the mountains were so vast that you could go days without hearing another kin or animal.
... Oh if only that were true right now. Spring gave way to summer, and suddenly the typically quiet nesting ground for her clan was awash with the most horrid sound one had ever heard. It had started slowly a few days ago, soft, almost unnoticeable from the typical mountain's quietness, but it steadily grew louder and louder, and now the buzzing sound was almost deafening. The whole herd had a perpetual headache from the day in day out buzzing noise. Finally, one totoma female had enough. Even though the sound echoed off the rock faces of the mountains and the trees, she slowly hunted down the source of the sound.
A hoard of angry wasps had taken residence in a dead tree that hung over a ledge above a deep valley. The whole tree had to be filled with the damned angry creatures for such a racket. A few wasps drifted around her, either because they were curious about her, or as a warning to keep away. She steeled herself, and knew what she must do. Like any rational totoma, the doe charged the tree and rammed her bony head into the dead, wasp filled tree and pushed with all her strength. The roots and rocks under the tree, under her hooves, began to creak and groan. The buzzing got louder as a swarm of wasps emerged. The angry bugs began trying to sting her, but she pushed on until with a final groan, the tree gave way, pulling up from the rock it had rooted into, and went tumbling down into the deep valley. Soon the wasps lost interest in the totoma, and dispersed into the wind. She returned to her family in their now quiet nesting ground. She was their hero! She had killed the buzzing, and earned her name: Buzz Kill.

That i would never be a real Totoma. That i would not find something that fit my bright colors and my peaceful ways. I was always a little different then most of the totomas around our part of the mountains. I was always so good at my jumping though. I was always the brightest one in the sky when i jumped. Some tried to call me a fish, but i did not like the name. I did not feel like a fish, but some times i felt too peaceful for my kind.
"Peaceful. I think i can use that." He thought to himself self as he leaped from this rock to that rock. Climbing and jumping, leaping from rock face to rock face. Laughing he got to the top and he looked down over the mountain, feeling at peace and happy with all around him. "Peaceful Mountain Jumper. No one leaps like me. No one brightens the air with their colors here like i do. I think that will be my name. I am Peaceful Mountain Jumper!" he called out happily as he leaped about the top of the mountain and laughed happily.
