Eripse found a frown crease, as she was so rudely turned away from her... calling. She would drop the jacket to the floor, and moving to the barricade, would pull a couch from it and right it, before flopping on it.

Daniel gets the worst of her own aggrivation.

"I'm sure the lass can inform you of my misdeeds and wrongdoings." With that, she closes her eyes, rests her head on met palms, and would assume the fetal position, taking a nap.

And with that, all twelve members of R.I.O.T. Five were within the confines of Roth Sinclaire's office. it was a quite spacious place, really. They didn't have a Special Ops division here, but they did have a security force that was trained as if they were special forces.

The question would then arise as to how the building was put under siege. That answer would come soon enough.

"The situation began about twelve hours ago," he said as he activated a panel on the wall, which brought up the holographic map of Central Aekea imbedded in his desk. Any red markers were enemy positions, blue were Raven Industries security, and green were police and any other allied elements.

"The rioting started with protests claiming that Raven Industries was being unfair to cybernetic workers within its facilities. However, you all know as much as I do that we treat all of our employees with equality, even if there were actually any prosthetic users hired at this branch. Which there were not."

Several red dots appeared, the borderline of the general mob appearing to be about seven feet from the RI entrance. Blue ones appeared in front of them, closing the distance steadily.

"Security teams were sent to guard the front entrance, and that only served to get the crowd riled up. Even when the executive officer for RI Aekea attempted to have a few words with them about what was really going on, they wouldn't listen. Someone must have gotten them really riled up..."

Situation: DEFCON 1

At that point, five green arrows slid in from the northeast, heading down alleys and streets until they stopped at strategic positions.

"Police arrived on the scene as soon as they got a call from a nearby squad car, and about five units showed up, two men to each car, to cover the situation. Someone must have gotten real nervous, because as soon as they arrived, someone tossed a moltov cocktail at a still-running vehicle. All hell broke loose from there, and two SWAT units were dispatched to neutralize the riot that had started."

Situation: DEFCON 2

Roth's face looked especially grim at this point as the green arrows dimmed out, replaced by a few more as the fighting began. The blue markers retreated back into the building...

"Security forces began taking fire, mostly spray and pray, but there were a few incapacitating hits. At that point, two SWAT units down, more on the way, but knowingly ineffective, we were on Stage One security lockdown from there. Monitoring the radio chatter between the police units wasn't too hard of a task, and it turned out that they were getting their asses handed to them.

"We informed them that we were going to try something interesting, and they had to agree- law enforcement was getting beat with the ugly stick. Those 30mm autocannons you see out on the street? The ones that were blown to pieces? That was our attempt at quelling the riot. It worked for a bit, until someone had the bright idea of sending a bipedal tank out there."

Situation: DEFCON 3

"Level Two lockdown took place after that, and the Iron Curtain came down on the windows and doors. About an hour afterwards, communications started to get spotty... at that point, we assumed DEFCON 4 and contacted the main office in Durem for assistance. An hour after that, it went dark, which meant that the signal was jammed.

"The rest... well, you all know. Standard siege, as if this place were a castle of sorts. About five hours into the attack, the power went out, which meant that someone had the brilliant idea of taking out the city's power station, leaving us on reserves. DEFCON 5, and with no way to communicate. Sattelite assistance was out as well due to the jamming. If you guys hadn't come, we'd be dead now."

One of Red's team was more than happy retreive the jacket, and they recieved a polite thank you for doing so. The childish behavior of Eripse was simply ignored.

Red leaned against a window sill until she was comfortable and folded her arms with a sigh, listening and thinking as Daniel spoke. He was right, the enemy here was a high level threat, well equipped. But the enemy tactics had been, for lack of a better word, pathetic. Their comunications hub was poorly defended, no traps, mines, nothing. They had walked right in to her traps, then charged across an open road to leave themselves completely vulnerable to a strafing run from the Spectre. They had used sentry cyborgs with Yaits logos in tandem with low level androids and synthetics users. She was sure whatever Eripse had taken out could have blown through the lockdown here with ease.

Eripse, that was another thing that troubled her, a creature like her was reported disintigrated, how'd she survive that, or did she have a sister?

"You're welcome. They were well equipped, luckily their organization left much to be desired for a military force, though for a mob, they were far too organized. I saw the old Yaits Corporation Logo's on some of the sentry cyborgs, I tried to disable one, but they all self-destructed as soon as they were immobilized. I'd bet these riots are instigated by West Fall. As for the Harpy, is she with us, and what's with her, really? She almost comprimised the mission and got herself killed joy riding some old jeep toward our position."

"We waisted a Javelin on her," said the heavy weapon's girl.

"Nnn... she's a merc, like you used to be."

She shouldn't be surprised- he had her files stashed away somewhere. All branches of Raven Industries were in tight communication with each other as far as the Special Operations Division went.

"We hired her for intelligence gathering and support. She didn't go well with the support thing, and showed a nice amount of insubordination. Not to mention that was pretty reckless of her, making an attempt to announce one's position like that. However, she did help you all, in the end... so I can forgive her. For now."

Roth cast his gaze towards Eripse, regarding her for a brief moment before turning back towards Red.

"Still, their organization will be the least of our problems... that tank that they brought onto the combat scene- we have the plans for it, including the location of where it's being built. In fact, it's right here in Aekea, which means that we have a lot more on our plate than that riot.

"That brings me to my next point- we're going to clear out any Western Empire influences from this city. Since you've found evidence of a direct attack from their government, whether it was ordered by their recently-elected president or not, it's only fair that we execute retaliatory measures.

"Do you agree with this, Captain?"

Eripse's mun had found a fitting quote in finishing a biiiiig a** book.

"We had gauged each other wrong, he and I, and both of us knew it. If our methods were unorthodox, still, our ends had been the same."

-- Kushiel's Chosen, Phedre thinking on her misconceptions about Barquiel L'Envers.

Eripse herself sighed and tossed and turned for but a moment, before rising, just as Daniel looked at her, and she entered the room on the mention of the tank. Her voice waited, for Daniel to finish his speil, before she spoke.

"That eight foot ion-shooting thing? ... Are they mass-producing it, or just one or two at a time? ... If they're spitting 'em out two dozen by the minute, we're boned. Those things have a hella s**t storm of a Self-destruct. And they're -hard-, regardless. They have shields. Pretty sturdy s**t."

"Building them here? You must have been misinformed. I find it hard to believe they would manufacture a weapon like that in Aekea, considering that Yaits already built an industrial fortress in West Fall to build his tools. That thing was manufactured in West Fall and smuggled in, they might have assembled it here, but that would be as far it goes. Aekea is Gaian Republic territory, it would be immpossible for them to mass produce something like that here and stupid for them to attempt.

Why don't we break up the Aekean slave trade? I heard a fair number of Gaian citizens are disapearing recently and the authorities are baffled. I think the West is involved somehow, considering what went on over there, it's only logical to believe people are being funneled into a meat grinder for the nation's weapons research.

I'm in for a little house cleaning, anyway."

A fair number of homeless and children had been kidnapped recently, an epidemic of sorts. Anyone who was alone was at risk. Someone was scaveging for parts around her

"Hm... if that's true, then we do have a duty to shut it down. The Black Market happens to be in Southern Aekea, according to the information that Eripse brought back- it'd be best if you made a raid in that area. Get on it, Captain. But before you leave... R&D has something that they would like to give you. I recieved a message from them for your squad to head down there as soon as possible."

With that, Roth nodded and dismissed them. It'd be her choice- find out what was so special, or head out now.

Her squad would prepare, she would take her lieutenant and one other person to see what was so special.

On television and radio, there would be some issues of the day to consider.

Breaking News!

Natalie Slatsky has one the presidency of West Fall in a narrow victory, with dark horse challenger Kain Demetrius of the Yaits party running a close second, behind by only five thousand votes. It is expected that Kain will challenge the results.

The Yaits Party victory in the seventy seat house will ensure them a major part in the newly elected government. While the thirty seat senate is dominated by the National party now headed by Slatsky. The Charitable Order Party picked up a number of seats in both houses as well. Breakdown:

House:

Yaits: 41
National: 19
Charitable: 10

Senate:

National: 19
Yaits: 7
Charitable: 4

President: Natalie Slatsky projected winner.

In a startling development, former Yaits Corporation officials released a statement announcing the formation of Central Axis Corporation. The newly formed corporation owns half of all industrial projects in West Fall, not including the contreversial Citadel said to house secret illegal projects. The oil rigs in the Tundra of Guldor are alos part of the new corporation.

President elect Natalie Slatsky called the announcement premature and disturbing, assuring the public that there would be negotiations with the new company.

Nnn...

Roth watched all this on his flat-panel screen, on the wall just behind his desk. his office was a rather spacious one, as he had to address many concerns that the executive offices did not. The first question was simple- was Eripse still in the office?

The second was the more complicated.

"Eripse... I have a job for you. One that might get you squared away for quite a while. You still interested in working for me?"

Lobby, 1F

A brunette with waist-length hair tied back in a ponytail was busy reading from a clipboard. Her long white labcoat hung to her knees, and was slightly open to reveal her blouse and skirt, both colored a light blue. She seemed to be in her mid-twenties, and had a pair of reading glasses on. A rather pretty young woman at 5'4".

Hearing something from her left, she looked up. The first thing she saw was a shock of red hair, coupled with red eyes. It was something that would have her almost permanently separated from the crowd, and for a moment she wondered if this woman had dyed her hair and put in contacts. Then she somehow knew that it was all real, and the fleeting thought left her mind.

"You must be the Captain of the R.I.O.T. division that had been called in. I'm Leslie. If you'd just follow me, I have something that I think would help you out the next time you head on a mission."

Red shrugged, she was feeling a bit tired and her wound was sore, she hadn't even had it look at yet. She followed.

"I hope it's a doctor and a few stitches," she said, "I was shot in the shoulder almost point blank by some sniper. Not to complain or anything, it just stings a little. A few stitches, some anti-septic, and a fresh dressing and I'll be fine."

Leslie nodded- she had noticed that as well. "We'll get someone on that as soon as possible. Matter of fact, why don't we head there first? Hopefully, the nerve wasn't hit. Then again, it'd be hurting a lot more if it were..."

The medical division was thus their first stop. The bleeding had been staunched quickly and handily, but she certainly did need a new dressing. The impromptu one was taken off, and some stitches were the first thing to be applied, followed by the first-aid spray. It was a neat little package that was a coagulant, anti-septic, and a direct pain killer all in one. Add the dressing, and she was good to go in less than fifteen minutes.

With that, it was simple enough to head down towards the first lower-level area. Like the one in Durem, it was mostly white- the walls, the floor, the soft lights. Many people were working in many different stations to test out many different things. The thing about this special thing was that it was crucial to the rest of her missions...
PostPosted: Sat Feb 24, 2007 2:02 pm

She had gotten lucky with that shot, nothing critical had been damaged, luckily the shot had gone straight through. That felt better, she healed fairly quickly, so she knew the wound would be gone in a week, with only a small scar as remainder. In the meantime, it would be sore if she didn't have painkilers. She was anxious to see what they wanted to show her.

Red yawned.

"Can't wait to see what's so special," she said.

"Oh, trust me. You'll be nice and impressed by this."

With that, she lifted a combat helmet, similar to the one she had been wearing during the mission. It wouldn't look anything near impressive... until of course, she put it on. A clear, transparent eye shield slid down automatically as soon as the helmet was donned.

The helmet had a small camera on the left side, and a pinpoint laser pointer on the left. Naturally, it was for aiming without the weapon needing a laser aiming module. What this was all for would be explained momentarily.

"Okay, this is what we were working on. See this eye sheild? It can take a rifle round from sniping distance, as can the rest of the helmet. Radio is installed within the workings of the headgear as well, but that's standard military issue these days. The big thing that this has that the others does not is this..."

She had a Tactical Response Watch on. Pressing a small green button on the right side made something come alive on the visor. "This visor isn't just for protection... It's a tactical interface that uses intelligence feedback from our private sattelite to give you information on anything from enemy positions to tactical points of your allies and team.

"In other words, this helmet allows you to see them... before they see you."
