Momo nodded, "was thinking this smaller one for Malcom." he held it up when he caught sight of something around the corner. he looked and saw canvas bags, ones that looks far more useful than these purses. "What do you think about those? they look almost like backpacks, but for the side." he started to go through them and pulled out two larger and one smaller one. "I think these will work perfectly." he was trying to ignored the dog's reactions to the animal, but it was putting him on edge. he wanted to leave and soon.

"Momo we already have our duffel bags and our smaller bags, I think a third bag might be too much for you or him to carry. Cujo Shh." and bopped the dog's head, silencing the growl. "I suggest we find a place to set up camp. One of these buildings look like an apartment building. There might be mattresses there but certainly not here unless we find a mattress store, which I think is on the level below."

Momo put the bags back, "you're right, sorry." he put the bags back and got everything before picking up the boy, "let's go to the apartment complex. there will be locks on those doors. doesn't look like there is anyone here, but still, i don't trust it. i think we will all sleep better with a lock." he adjusted Malcom before heading for the front, "which way should we go, do you think?"

Hal smiled at Momo, "You and Malcom go to the complex. I will stay here and search for food. He is exhausted and you will need a nap as well." he stroked his friend's hair. "Take your bags and take Cujo with you. I have my bag so I can put in some extra food, if not I'll take a third bag with me.You and him should find safe ground first." he nodded, looking at the maned-wolf. its limbs were so long. "He'll protect you." And walked back downstairs and to the front with them, looking, "I suggest that tall complex over that way, I also suggest an office if we can't climb stairs and Malcom is too small to climb elevator shafts."

Momo didn't like this plan. he didn't like it at all, but Hal was right that they needed to get Malcom somewhere that he could sleep without being moved around. "Ok," he said softly, looking down at the dog rather than at Hal, "but-be careful, ok?" he gave Hal a little smile before checking the street and hurrying to the building Hal was pointing at. it looked like Hal had been right, the bottom floor was set up like an apartment building, but rule number one was never sleep on the bottom floor if you could help it. he went to the third floor and searched for a room that wasn't locked, finally finding on in the back corner. he laid out Maclom's bedroll and put the boy inside the blankets before moving to sit across the door, listening for the sound of Hal's return.

The android nodded, "I'm always careful." and watched them until they were out of sight, turning back into the mall to search. Everything because cautious, eyes constantly scanning the area as he looked for specific food or can-like shapes, digging through the food court. Unfortunately weathering had changed the food court, sand and dirt littering the ground, but due to the shade there was some minor, desert vegetation. "It seems whoever is inhabiting this area has wiped out the food court." he murmured, opening cabinets and drawers, little to no food left. But they were well past expiration date and it was the more flavored things that the android was wary on feeding his humans. He sighed, going back up a few levels to stores, checking their front desks for snacks which seemed a bit more plentiful, though filled with sugar. "Another Unicorn would be great, right now." he sighed, pocketing the sugar filled food and walking back out. There were heat signatures hidden all around him, up stairs, down below. There weren't a lot, but enough. Forcing his body to keep its calm pace he walked out. Hal could fight them all off, but was it really worth it? He couldn't tell what weapons they had if any, so simply continued walking to the complex he'd pointed out, but they stopped a distance behind him. It was confusing, why had they stopped? He kept walking though, looking up for the familiar heat signatures and finding them on the third floor, and walking in. "I found some water bottles, some sort of candy bars and I think an energy bar. The wrapper is faded but unopened." he explained softly, the child still sleeping the two hours later. "He must be exhausted with all of this waking. I wonder how often he walked with his parents." and sat down beside his human, offering a water bottle.

Momo was nodding off when he finally felt the door start to move and got out of the way. he gave Hal a critical one over to make sure he really was ok before smiling and looking at the boy, "probably not much. people tend to try to settle when they are with little ones, especially with them having left him when he was so young. maybe their food or water supply ran out?" he accepted the water and cracked the seal to take a sip. "thanks. i wonder about his past life, what his parents were like, but i don't want to ask in case it might bring up bad memories...or make him realise that he was abandoned." he shook his head, "it makes me a little sick to think what might have happened had we not found him. poor boy." his eyes drifted to Malcom's lack of a hand but quickly looked away, his own metal hand clenching and unclenching unintentionally. "find whatever it was that was causing the dog to fuss?"

"That's what I think. They just couldn't support him so they left him. And Cujo found him so he would have really died. Food and water are so scarce. His parents either expected better circumstances or weren't sure how babies were born." Hal shrugged, taking some of the food items and putting them in Malcom's bag for future use, not wanting the boy to starve or be without food, he was too young for that. Hal didn't want the boy to suffer such things at his age. At the last question he nodded, moving to speak softly into Momo's ear. "A group of hunters live in the area. They're no doubt stalking us before robbing us. We need to be on high alert. They were all around me in that mall."

Momo nodded to show he heard, thinking hard about what that could mean. He was pretty sure that they would not think the travelers food, though he couldn't be certain about the dog or not. however, they could just kill them for the hell of it too. "ok, should we move to a better spot? shut and lock all the doors to make them not know which one we are in?" the door of their room had a lock on the handle as well as a deadbolt, the original owner must have been paranoid. which turned out rather conveniently for them. "we can sleep against the door, too, if you think that will help."

"They're normal humans, judging by their group intellect. They're just trying to survive." he murmured before shaking his head, "They're going to find us anyway, I've no doubt they're watching the building. We can move all we want but they're going to find us, and without us knowing which exits are and are not blocked, we'll have to engage in close combat with them to stay safe." Hal explained, making sure Momo understood the situation. "So while we can deadbolt it, they already know we're here."

Momo felt his stomach drop, "So we are trapped?" he looked at Malcom, worried, "what should we do? we can't fight our way out, and we can't escape. we can try to sneak out, but what if we get caught. what can we do? do you think we should hide our things, the important ones? if we show up with nothing they will suspect, but-" he sighed and dropped his head onto Hal's shoulder, "i don't know. what should we do?" he had no idea what to do in this sort of situation.

"Technically we could fight our way out but we are unaware of their weapons of voice, whether it be fists or guns they've found." Hal wrapped an arm around Momo, gently stroking his hair. "If we're lucky they'll be gone by morning. I'll stay up as long as possible keeping watch, and if my systems require sleep I'll wake you up, or Cujo. It is the middle of the day so we do require a nap, and these shall no doubt be our lodgings for the night if they leave, that is the most we can hope for. Try to rest, Monoki. I'm here to protect you."

Momo sighed, "sorry, i know i am being childish." he smiled a little as he felt Hal's hand through his hair, "i guess i'm still-well," he didn't want to say it. still scared of other people, of human beings. with it already being all but a hostile situation, not knowing their intentions or anything of the sort, it was putting him on edge. "i know, and i don't doubt you will do everything you can to protect me. i just worry-" he sighed and pulled away. "right, i'm still hiding our stuff until we leave again. just in case." he routed around the rooms and finally found a small alcove with a hidden door. he put all of their food except for a few basics, his tool set inside, leaving the clothes in the bags. if this was their territory they had plenty of clothing as well. he kept the basics with him, an adjustable wrench, screw driver and set of clippers, that was it. he rearranged the disarray of the room to hide the door better and returned to hal with far less heavy bags. "i feel a bit better now." he smiled before pulling a blanket over himself and curling against the wall next to where Hal sat. "don't forget to wake me, ok?" he asked softly, drained from his fear.

"I won't forget." the android murmured, looking and watching the heat signatures as Momo dozed off to sleep. Momo was still so afraid of people, of human interaction. Malcom must be easy because he was a child, but Momo's past, it was the cause of a lot of worry. But Momo was recovering, slowly, clingy woman might have been a bit much. Hal chuckled, looking down at the man, "You were scared of girls even as a child." and stroked his hair before looking back up, the heat signatures moving away. That was good. He blinked, hearing Cujo snarling and barking before a loud whine. Blue eyes snapped forward, the maned wolf unconscious on the floor. What? he looked to his side, Momo gone along with Malcom, both of them a closer to the door and tied up. "Monoki!' he yelled, moving to stand but fell flat on his face instead. What?! He glanced back, realizing that was not tied but chained. What happened?! He just blinked!

Momo's head hurt and his body felt heavy. why? what had happened? "Monoki!""Hal?" his throat was dry and the words didn't want to form. he opened his eyes slowly and blinked away the slight blur left from his sleep. there was something wrong. people were in the room, Hal was on the ground not far away, but there were men standing over them. there was a sickeningly familiar weight on his wrists as Momo tried to move his arms, holding them in place. "Hal-" his voice shook as he slowly lifted his eyes to the man nearest them. he looked down and smiled. Momo felt like his blood had turned to ice as he met those eyes. he tried to move away, shaking. "Heh," Kage brushed his dreds back behind his shoulder and crouched down, grabbing the face of the red head and lifting it to the light and enjoying the terrified whimper that escaped his lips, "not bad looken', we found ourselves a bit of a catch." he threw the shaking boy away, sending him sliding a bit before standing and putting his hands in his pockets, "still don't believe that one's a 'droid." Boss, he didn't remember his real name, looked over, "he's a droid. saw him connected to that b***h earlier." he crouched down in front of the droid and looked it over, "got to be pretty powerful to fry her like that," he grinned, "so tell me, what'cha doing playing baby sitter to the freaks and a mutt?" they hadn't known that the older one was a freak too until they were tying him and saw the metal arm.
