Damn! Vyntyr barely managed to get out of the way of taking the hit on her head, instead taking a glancing blow on her left shoulder. The droid prepared to follow its flip with a leaping twist over Vyntyr's head, slashing down at her. Vyntyr ducked and brought her lightsaber up, hoping to put something between herself and her opponent. She was not doing exceptionally well anymore. She may have turned this droid up too high. But she couldn't give up, yet. She still had a fight on her hands, and she wasn't defeated yet. Vyntyr reached out with the Force and aimed to slam the droid into the ground.

Well that didn't work. Vyntyr had managed to keep the droid from coming down close enough to her to spare her the knife, but she hadn't managed to deal any damage. The droid was now some distance from her, and leaped a corkscrewing dive at the girl, hoping to overpower her with its aggression. Vyntyr didn't have an easy response for this attack. She put her saber forward and hoped to be strong enough to counter the rotation. That was the plan. Time to make it happen. Vyntyr was now painfully aware that there was a hole in her defense; she had not foreseen an attack like this, so she had no prepared way to counter it. She would need to think about that later.

Vyntyr managed to stop the droid from hitting her with a combination of backing up and thrusting her saber forward. It was not an elegant solution, but it was a solution. The droid rolled forward and sprang at the girl, holding its saber in both hands like the tip of a thrown spear, aiming straight for Vyntyr's chest. Vyntyr aimed to step to her left and slash across the droid's passing waist, hoping to bisect it and put an end to this bout. Her body was beginning to realize what it was doing, and she was starting to hurt again.
Master Laro was concerned for her apprentice. Vyntyr was beginning to show signs of wear. She would only intervene, though, if Vyntyr was unable to continue. This was valuable data.

Okay. That hadn't worked out. Vyntyr misstepped and lost her balance as the droid regained its footing without hesitation. The girl flailed with her saber behind her, hoping to keep the droid away while she again found her balance. She hoped Master Laro hadn't seen that.
Master Laro had seen it. She watched as her padawan stumbled and swung wildly to try and preserve herself. She could see the internal struggle between Vyntyr and her pain as it slowly crept back into the girl's body, and she felt bad about allowing Vyntyr to continue. But she had to gather information about the girl, and this was the way to do it.

Vyntyr had regained her footing and was not injured. So today was a good day. She spun quickly to face the droid, which seemed to be moving a little more slowly than it had been before. Vyntyr chalked that up to her imagination, though, and lunged forward, aiming a stab at the droid's chestplate, where it would hopefully be struck and disabled. But only time would tell if she was effective at all. The girl was showing signs of wear herself, her breath coming in painful gasps, and her movements slowing to reflect her waning stamina. But she couldn't give up. She had to persevere. Such was the struggle of the jedi; a life that was not easy, but was worth it in the end.

Vyntyr didn't close the distance to the droid as it backpedaled away from her, making space for it to prepare for another assault. The girl again reached out with the Force and aimed to grab the droid and throw it across the arena into one of the stone pillars at each corner of the stone platform. She was too exhausted. She wasn't going to be able to keep this pace up for too much longer.
Master Laro had to admire the tenacity of her padawan. The girl was holding up remarkably well despite the pain that she was certainly experiencing. The girl wasn't going to give up, no matter how much she suffered for it. She will make a fine Jedi some day.

Vyntyr managed to move the droid, but only enough to knock it off balance. Her next move was to try and lift it and slam it into the ground. She formed a control gesture, turning her palm up toward the sky as she raised her hand, trying to bring the droid off the ground with a powerful grasp of Force energy. She needed a moment to catch her breath, and this would give her that, at least. Vyntyr drew a deep breath to try and combat the icy fire in her lungs.
The child knew how to use the Force in combat, and was fairly proficient in telekinesis, despite younglings not being taught too much about alter-type powers before knighthood. Master Laro was yet again impressed by her padawan.

Ranged combat wasn't working. The only choice Vyntyr had was to close the distance again. She threw her saber ahead of her, running after it and hoping to catch the droid off guard. She had thrown the saber like a spear, the point racing fatally toward the droid's center mass. She could only hope that the maneuver bought her enough momentum to leverage into a decisive victory. Vyntyr's body was beginning to have sharp pains all throughout, and she didn't know how much longer she could keep this pace up. Her body was prepared to give out on her if she didn't stop soon.

Vyntyr saw a sudden opening in the droid's defense. She had thrown her saber hard enough that the droid had to overextend to block it, throwing it off balance. Vyntyr drew her fist in quickly, aiming to pull the droid to her as she caught her saber, plunging the blade forward and hoping to impale the droid through its chest. So the theory went, at least. The practice was going to speak for itself.
The girl had a keen eye for weaknesses. She would be a terrifying opponent if her body was up to the task of combat. Master Laro knew that one of the next steps in Vyntyr's training would be conditioning, but that would take time. First they had to figure out a way to deal with the underlying issues.

Vyntyr failed to make contact, and was forced back into melee range, where she parried an attack from the droid and aimed a quick riposte toward the droid's shoulder. If she could land several glancing blows, she could disable the droid, regardless of her ability to land big hits. But she just wasn't having any luck. Her body screamed at this point, and she fought her hardest to ignore it. If this was a real fight, she wouldn't be able to call for a break in order to heal her wounds. She needed to be strong. To persevere. To endure. She could not give in to her weak, base human emotions.

Vyntyr once again failed to make contact, and the droid slapped her blade aside before she twisted and made another stabbing lunge at her opponent. As she did, a lightning bolt of pain shot through her arm and she almost dropped her saber, but she managed to hang on and stay on course. The girl was not sure what kind of inhuman effort was keeping her going, because frankly she had started to get a little cloudy mentally. She was right at the edge of exhaustion, and she could feel herself getting farther and farther from her body mentally. Her body was channeling the Force and simply acting on her behalf.

Vyntyr was no longer conscious of what she was doing. She was a conduit of the Force, and little more. The droid had barely had time to raise its saber to defend against her, and the girl was taking advantage of that with a powerful surge of Force energy. She reached out and felt the Force flow through her like an overflowing dam. There was little else that she could do besides sit back and watch the show. Hopefully this ended it. She, even as far away from her body as she was, was unable to continue this fight any longer.
Master Laro watched her apprentice become so exhausted that the Force was guiding her actions. Jedi were familiar with the feeling; it was the same feeling that they had during alchaka. Becoming exhausted so that the Force was able to fill you up and take you over. But she would have to step in soon, if Vyntyr couldn't finish this.

Vyntyr was exhausted to the point of passing out. She was not even aware of what she was doing anymore, and as she deactivated her lightsaber, she raised both hands, palms up, to lift the droid from the ground. With a violent jerk, she turned her palms away down and away from each other before ripping her hands apart. The droid squealed with a mechanical whine as metal was warped and stretched, before the droid hit the arena in two separate places, rent completely in twain by the girl's powerful attack. It was a powerful manifestation of telekinesis.
Master Laro's brows furrowed under her headdress. Vyntyr couldn't be faulted for her technique; truly, she was not hardly conscious anymore, but what she had just demonstrated was a mighty manifestation of a power known as Force rend. used against a droid was no terrible thing, but against another living being, it would bring Vyntyr closer to the dark side.
Vyntyr collapsed to her knees and struggled to breathe as her mind came back to her body. She had to immediately focus on healing her burned shoulder and alleviating her pain or she was going to convulse on the stone.

Vyntyr fell flatter on her knees and gasped for air, her hands on her thighs as she tried to catch her breath.
Master Laro stepped close to her padawan. "What happened?"
Vyntyr looked at the two pieces of the droid and wondered the same thing herself for a moment. "I... I don't know. I was just... Taken over. I was hardly even conscious. That wasn't a very nice thing to do, was it?"
Leyren smiled "Well, let's put it this way; if that was your handshake, you probably wouldn't make very many friends."
Vyntyr nodded. "I'm sorry, master. I'll be more mindful in the future."
Master Laro nodded softly. "Be careful about it, is all. Using that technique on a droid is no great crime. But to inflict physical harm on another being through the Force is a path to darkness. You have not upset me. What you did was a decisive way to end the battle, and it was not a cruel act in and of itself. These droids are designed and programmed to take this sort of punishment."

Vyntyr bowed her head. "Yes, master. I'll see you tomorrow."
Vyntyr caught her breath and proceeded to her dorm room, where she would meditate until it was time to go to bed. The girl knelt down and closed her eyes, attempting to clear her mind.
