Damnit. Damn. It. Her walls were tumbling down so hard it was visible in her eyes. Her lip wibbled for just a moment, struck dumb by how formal, and how beautiful those words sounded coming from him.
And then she bit his ear and pointed forward.
"Better go finds out what kinds of rings I likes before yehr thinkings about things like that, Mister Kettil Blacke." She stuck her tongue out, teasing him despite the healthy blush of color on her cheeks that betrayed her feelings.

Kettil gently nudged his head against hers as she bit his ear laughing softly, "Heyhey. Save that for the bedroom, Ma'am," he said this a bit quieter for the moment before he moved toward the nearest jewelry stall that came to view.
"I will find you the best ring and you will be so overcome that you'll want to marry me on the spot," he assured this loudly. Kettil didn't care of people were staring at them. Some of the faces familiar to him as those he grew up with and all they saw was the boil they knew being incredibly happy.
...With a Valkyrie on his back.
He peered over the selection of earrings, rings, and necklaces. Kettil's eyes mostly stayed on the rings.

Freya saved nothing for the bedroom. NOTHING. She nibbled on his shoulder even has he spoke. Her nibbling faltered just slightly, at his assurances, but then continued as if nothing had happened.
"Ja. And then yeh won't be ables teh buys it yet and I will cry and leaves yeh from my heartbreak." She stuck her tongue out at him, licking his cheek with it. "Orrrr, we could just go looks like I says and yeh not tries teh gets me teh marries yeh in the middle of the streets." That sounded like a better idea. Yup.

He withstood her nibbling with a sort of stoic expression of amusement - better than showing the other emotion he was feeling just then. Thanks Freya.
Kettil closed an eye and peered at her as she licked his cheek, "You underestimate how determined I am about this. How serious I am about this. Also? I could be shouting this question at you over the highest tree in my hometown. I think the middle of the street is more than reasonable," he just seemed to not care.
Besides, what was in the harm of looking? Fingertips idly poked at the displays.
This was too chunky, but it had the right sort of diamonds he wanted for her. Then there was this other one, but upon closer inspection it was a cheap knockoff replica of a more expensive ring.
"You wouldn't leave me. You aren't allowed to. I believe we went over the other day the lengths I would go to in order to hunt you down and take you back to my side where you belong." Kettil said in a tone that was rather matter-of-fact.

Freya was a stubborn, determined little ghoul. She wrapped her arms around Kettil and let him shower her with his equally stubborn, demanding presence. She soaked it in, and let it fill her with a deep sense of satisfaction. She loved that about him. She loved the way it sounded when his tone was suddenly so serious, so sure. He loved when he didn't give her room to budge on the topics she really wasn't fighting for.
She fell quiet, purring every so often into his ear like a happy kitten as he looked through the rings. She didn't want to look at them. She knew, she just knew, if she found the perfect ring..
She nuzzled her nose against his cheek and let him peruse.

The weight and warmth of her on his back was more than reassuring. People walked past them and eyed them but as of yet no one said anything about the couple being far too close and affectionate with each other. Then again there were couples doing more than just hanging on each other as they stared at jewelry and shopped, so perhaps this was a semi-normal thing.
Kettil chuckled as she purred into his ear, "TĂșkut, what do you think of this one?" He asked idly. To him it looked perfect; he could picture it on her hand. If he planned to purchase it right away or not it didn't seem to reflect as much in his tone.

It was instinct. When someone asked your opinion on something, your eyes moved to it without thinking. Hers opened, flickered to the ring in his hand, and before she could stop herself, the visions hit her like a ton of bricks.
That ring resting perfectly on her finger. That ring coupled by the band as he slides it down, whispering his I do's. That ring laying on an old crone's bony finger, as she's laid to rest in her grave.
Jack. ********. Damnit.
She squinted her eyes shut and tried not to picture the rings every perfect detail, seared into her mind.
"Is.. is okays.." She stuttered out breathlessly.

Luckily or unluckily he didn't quite connect her reaction to her words. His head tilted a bit so he could see some portion of her face, and an expression of concern clouded his usually carefree face. "You alright? Y'seem short of breath. Am I holdin' y'too tight back there or somethin'?"
Kettil peered down at the ring again as he awaited her answer.
Was her reaction due to the ring? Was it cursed? He was suddenly studying it very intently while the shopkeeper hovered nearby protectively.

Freya slid off of his back, and patted it gently. "I-I'm fine, I am okays, no worries." She moved to stand beside him, filtering uselessly through the rest of the jewelry with her fingers, and trying to keep her eyes averted. She had promised him she'd look, but she hadn't expected a reaction that strong to any little piece of jewelry.
It scared her.
"One day. Yeh picks that one. Okays? Is a good ring, I liked it." She was still keeping her eyes on the jewelry in front of her.

He let her get to her own feet and smiled over at her when she stood at his side. She had looked so beautiful while she looked at all the shiny things he almost forgot that he was holding onto a ring in the first place.
One day.
I liked it.
One day.
Idly he checked the price tag on the ring and looked up at the shopkeep in an almost pleading manner but it seemed at the moment there would not be any deals struck and for now Kettil wasn't going to do this with Freya there.
"Yes. One day." Kettil assured softly as he reluctantly put the ring down for now. He smiled over at his ghoulfriend as if he wasn't plotting a damn thing just now.

Freya took in a short sigh of relief, and then turned away to look at the other stalls. "We goes and looks at other things, ja? We've been here so longs and all I has is this one skirt teh shows for it." Well, that and some cat scratches. And a little bit of missing hair.
She tried to focus on the wares the stalls across from them had to offer, but, just once, her eyes flickered back to him, a side glance. It was only a moment, but the little ghoul with the fluttering heart gave herself away with one telling look.
And then it was gone, and she was staring at a vegetable stand with a blush that rivaled the tomatoes in it.

Kettil nodded a little and smiled as he moved to hold onto her hand now that he had put the ring down. The boil had caught the look even if it was brief and he also noticed her blushing as well but he said nothing about it other than to lean and place a small kiss on her cheek.
For an event that was meant to emotionally 'harm' a rival it certainly brought something new for the two of them. It was like they were inching closer and closer to something new in their relationship.
He hummed a bit as he tugged at her hand to lead her toward a stall that was selling various little knickknacks carved from old wood, "Anything here catch your fancy?"

Little wooden figures. Little wooden figures! Freya bloomed with happiness as she saw them, and started crooning all over each one. She bent into the stall, reaching as far as she could to grab the little owl trinkets from the back. Her fingers touched the beak, but that was as far as she could get. She winced and bit her tongue, an expression of pure concentration on her face as she bent over and reached, and reached..
"Ach, I can't gets teh them!"

Kettil had a pretty interesting reaction to her bending over to touch the trinkets. A blush covered his face telling various things that were currently going through his head just now but he could also blame that on Freya teasing him a bit earlier.
Yes. That was it.
Quietly he moved to stand a bit more behind her and his hands came to grasp her waist, "Up-we-go!" He announced quietly as he moved her a bit closer to what she wanted to inspect. The manager of the stall just let them do what they wanted. It wasn't like the teens could break his wares.

Freya squealed when she felt herself lifted up, having assumed Kettil was just going to reach for them himself. She giggled and clutched at three of the owl figurines, pulling them back and wiggling to signify she was ready to be put back down now.
"Yay! Thanks yeh! Looks at these little guys Hooter, they're so cute, they looks just like-" Yikes. Her mouth worked too quickly for her mind to catch up, and she hesitated, looking at him guiltily. She didn't want to remind him of Endy until she was ready to come back out, but she probably just had.
"Well." She hedged. "They are very cutes." She put one down, and held two of them up, one with each hand. "Hallo Hooter we are Siamese owls," She used a silly, high-pitched voice to speak for them. "We loves yeh Hooter!"
