Tebiki stood and taking a blanket drapped it over Lumine so she could cover herself freely, just as the the celestial put her hands onto her lap. "What Hanari wants is the least of my worries, and the least of my concerns,"Tebiki said, pulling the blanket tigthly around Lumine, figuring she may feel a chill about now,"What she did was wrong, and as her teacher, I cannot let others suffer for my incompetence as a mentor." She moved back to sit at her chair.

"I shouldn't have brought you back, but I did it because I see potential in you,"The shepard said, looking at her staff that was leaned against the wall somewhere,"I had been watching from Afar, I never thought Hanari could let herself be blinded. I have seen how you interact with others. You made the lonewolf come out of her cave, and the blind rabbit find a comfort she never had seen in centuries. Not only that but you made them a family; your family. My hope is that Hanari goes and speaks to them, and both make her realise her mistake."

"When you take a life, Lumine, you do more than take it. You affect all the surrounding people, like a domino effect, for better or for worst," The shepard's gray blue eyes moved to Lumine's,"I learned this lesson the hardest of ways.it was my mistake and my mistake only that allowed a young woman named Yomi wonder and find her own peace; by allowing her time, I let her get lost, and she became Fuzen-mara. My error costed the life of a village and anyone unfortunate enough to slip into her way, particularly her demon underling that I did not take in when there was a chance to save her." She sighed,"What I mean to tell thee is that what Hanari did, the taking of your life, will affect those around you, and the ones that had been written to meet you. When you take someone with the longevity that beings like you have, you can change fate horrendously."

"Listen and listen well, because we only have one chance at this," the spirit's eyes turned serious,"There is no going back, I made you a spirit and I can't touch you while in the courts, and I can't take you where I can take your spirit because you would fade away. I am asking a great sacrifice from you if you really wished death. I need you to appeal for resuciation with the soundest of your arguements. If you can't do it for yourself, do it for Michiko, Ochiba, Hanari and Myself. Our fates have mingled, and there is no untangling them now, Lumine."

Lumine sat quietly where Tebiki had placed her as she explained her reasons, not raising her gaze nor even moving much, even as the Spirit-Girl covered her with a blanket. The idea of being ressurrected didn't sit well with her. Not that dying was any better, but still... "I still don't understand, Miss...um, Noroshi was it? Why would you risk this for me? What potential could I possibly have? I was useless before, and I don't think dying changed that in me..."

She gripped the blanket from the inside and pulled it taught around her shoulders, curling up on the chair she sat upon underneath. There was indeed a chill running through her body, but the blanket helped a little. It probably had something to do with the lack of blood flowing. "Hanari... was only... doing her job. We were destined to be mortal enemies... from the day she was born..." Her head sunk lower into the blanket, covering the mouth and nose, and her eyes were still fixed upon the floor. Thoughts of her family - Michiko and Ochiba - arose in her mind. A terrible thought accompanied the image of her family; the realization that she may never see either of them ever again. And to make matters worse, if Hanari didn't contact them, they would never know what happened to her, either.

"I know... I'm not supposed to be like this..." She began to tear up a little, though she fought to control her emotions. "I never asked to be a Celestial... I never wanted to be anyone's enemy. And why should this fall upon me?" Lumine's emotions shifted from depression to anger, accompanied by a raise in the volume of her voice. "Hanari's the one who screwed up, right? And you took the risk to revive me! So why is it on my shoulders to make your stupid plan work, huh?! What do I owe either of you?!"

By the time Lumine finished her rant, she had stood, her gaze fixed harshly upon Tebiki, with the blanket still gripped tightly across her shoulders. Catching herself, however, Lumine's stance deflated, and she moved to sit once more. "...Fine, I'll do it, but only for Michiko and Ochiba... I don't know why you think I can convince anybody, but I guess I don't have any better option. If I don't, I'll just die for good anyway, right..? I might as well try."

Tebiki simply sat there and took the blows of Lumine's words quite calmly as usual and expected of a shepard as herself. "I do not care, it was my error, if you want to go on and take what Hanari did to you, just fail miserably. If you want to see Ochiba and Michiko again, you will have to do your best. Unlike the shinigami, I will accept full responsibilities for my mistakes; if you decide to return to the Samsara Cycle, then I will accept whatever Hijou-sama may chose as my punishment for having broken so many rules."

"I simply do not want Hanari to go immune for acting on rage and confusion, because that is not how a shinigami is meant to react. They are meant to remain unbias to any situation. If she is let to go without any consequences then she could easily think that it is correct to take action like that,"The shepard sighed,"If I let her go like that, I would only continuen to teach her incorrect things. I am already bad enough as a teacher, but I do not want to be worse."

"Please do so for them, then, I am asking alot from you, but there was reasons why you became a celestial, and why you deserved it," the shepard responded,"Once you feel comfortable in your body, I will take you to court, where we can have a private hearing with Hijou-sama."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 10, 2013 7:19 am

"If you put it like that... then I'll do it." Lumine stated plainly, her gaze meeting Tebiki's equally. "Because Hanari deserves better, than to live following the wrong path. She made a 'mistake', as you put it, so I'll help her fix it... Even if it's the last thing I'll ever try doing."

Lumine stood, blanket clutched with one hand, and reached out with the other to take the shorts Tebiki had laid out for her. Still hidden by the blanket draped around her shoulders, Lumine changed into the shorts quickly, then repeated the process with the shirt. In a few short moments, the Celestial was dressed in the new clothes, and she cast the blanket aside with grandeur, like a hero discarding their cloak. The Celestial then planted her fists firmly on her hips. "Alright, you win for now. I'll talk to the judge or whatever and try to plea my case, but I can't promise anything, okay?"

She turned and walked towards the door, when she paused to look at Tebiki again. "So... what's gonna happen to me? Like, if I 'win'? You already have me here, so I doubt she'd let me return to life in Gensokyo..." Lumine's eyes fell to the floor again, deep in thought. "There's... really no way out of this for me... is there?"

"Good," Tebiki said a bit relieved as Lumine stood, changed, and stood more like her usual cheery self before deflating to insecurity. The shepard stood, taking her staff,"No, there is no way out of this. No way to return you to your life as it was, in the very least... But let us hope for the best, and perhaps Hijou-sama will be kind and generous to us."

"Let us go over to the court, the faster we get over this, the faster we will know the results," the shepard took her exit, leading out of her home and through the desert banks of the Sanzu. It was quiet and gray, but to Tebiki somehow beautiful in its stillness. "I would love to tour thee, around the Courts of Hell, but that would be a trial of my luck and good terms with the judges."

Her staff seemed lonely in her hand, with no ghost circling it nonchalantly as they usually did, but Tebiki had steady and calm steps. Before either of them knew it, they were going up the shiny marble steps of a foreigner and formal building through its more Greek like set up. The grand doors where open and it took some maneuvering to get around to a last set of grand gates. Tebiki stop in-front of the doors, turning to look back at Lumine.

"Hijou-sama is now a very well practiced judge of the courts, and she personally trained under Yamaxanadu-sama, I suggest you tell nothing but the truth: Yama's hate lies," the Shepard leaned her staff on the doors and went to straighten out Lumine's hair and clothes in a motherly way,"Be truthful to her, and she will be more generous, lie and you can get your tongue pulled out as tradition dictates. Just do your best, be honest, and you will be fine. If you are honest, the worst that can happen is that you will be sent to Hakugyokurou to await reincarnation, as it would have been common for someone who died unexpectedly as yourself, Lumine."

Content with her work, Tebiki nodded to herself and once more took her staff in hand,"Ready?" She turned to the doors and by simply pointing her staff, they moved to swing open slowly and creaking. Inside, it was like a regular court rooom that had absolutely to place to seat witnesses or an audience; all it was was the Judge's stand, and one in-front of that made for the one being judged.

In the judge's seat, sat a young woman, her long green hair had a small 'pillar' on the left side, binding some of her hair in place with a brown ribbon tied with a coin charm. Her eyes where a matching color, but those were not visible until she looked up as Tebiki strode up into the court room. "Noroshi-sama?" Her eyes seeme perplexed and confused,"And you have brought a soul?"
"Yes, I have."
"You must know that is not permitted; the giving of conscience to a soul, because as you know, all souls are meant to be judged."
"Yes, I do, Hijou-sama," Tebiki bowed low, earning a giggle and smile from the judge.
"Noroshi-sama, I have told you not to call me that, to call me Akira, as you met me!" Akira smiled softly.
"I know my place, even if you were my student at some point, Hijou-sama," Tebiki straightened out,"I am sorry, but this child--"
"I trust your judgement, Noroshi-sama, I am sure you have a reason to bring her here, and I am willing to hear you out," Akira leaned back into her seat, letting her pen rest on the papers she had been tending to. Tebiki gave a small bow in thanks. "So, let me hear your tale."

Please wait warmly, Girls Are Updating . . .

"Ah, it has been your shinigami's lack of control that has brought this young girl to our court,"Akira ran a hand over her hair that seemed to be tied back at a lower point,"That is still no reason for me to resuscitate a soul out of the Samara cycle; specially one of a celestial,Noroshi-sama. In fact, I believe I should punish your shinigami instead of fix her error."
"Please do hear us out, this celestial is a good girl, she has managed to help so many souls in life," Tebiki turned to Lumine now,"Tell her of Michiko and Ochiba, please, of your situation.."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 20, 2013 6:31 am

It was so much to take in at once. As Tebiki tended to her appearance, question upon question swirled in Lumine's head, but as one situation unfolded into the next, there wasn't a moment to ask any of them. Instead, the Celestial did something perhaps for the first time in her life: she listened. She listened to Tebiki's instructions and encouragement, simply nodding at key points. Even if she wanted to speak, finding her voice would have been difficult. Standing before those grand doors, Lumine was scared. Her body shook and she fidgeted nervously. Depending on what happened over the next few minutes, these may be the last waking moments she ever has, or at least, for a long, long time.

The courtroom itself was much different than from what she imagined. Lumine had always envisioned the courts to be grand and intimidating, a personified visage of the respect their position in the role of creation and destruction demanded, but this room seemed much more... humble, as did the young woman who stood behind the stand. Again, Lumine remained silent as Tebiki told of her story to the Judge. As the Judge - Akira? That was her name, right? - spoke of possibly punishing Hanari, Lumine took a step forward, about to call out and plea for her to reconsider, but something in the back of her mind told her not to butt in.

As Tebiki turned to face her, and asked for her to speak of her friends, Lumine nodded, then tentatively stepped forward. She wasn't sure how to act, or what to say, and her nerves had yet to calm. She really wished she had finished that chocolate bar.

"Um... I... I don't really know what it is you want me to say." She said slowly, staring at the ground. "Miss Noroshi said that... she saw potential in me... because of things I've done. I don't... I don't think I've really done anything, except mess things up... And by your rights and laws, my existence itself is a crime, with death as its only suitable punishment... right? I don't know what I could ever say to defend this life that I've been born into... It's not like I've ever hurt anyone intentionally, or at least, unless they hurt me first."

Tears began to well up in Lumine's eyes. She clenched her fists at her sides, though they still shook with fear. "Please... don't do anything to Hanari... she only did what she did because of me. I... I-I don't want her to suffer t...twice for my stupidity." She let out a small sob as tears rolled down her cheeks. She took a moment to calm herself slightly, and wipe her eyes. "I never asked to be a Celestial... I didn't even know that's what I was until I came to Gensokyo. I didn't know I would be hated, or hunted just because I existed. I just wanted to be happy and... and I was. For a long time, I had Maemi and Master Kazuko with me. They were my friends... my family. They were the people I could turn to when I didn't have anyone else in the world. And when they left, Michiko and Ochiba filled the void that they had left behind. They all took me in, and gave me the one thing I wanted more than anything else in the world; love. They gave me love, and a family! They took care of me when I had nowhere else to go, and no one to turn to!" The tears streamed freely down Lumine's face, and she did nothing to hide them. "They loved me! And I loved them! All of them! And I still do! And... and I want to see them again... even if it's only once, just to say 'goodbye'...and tell them how... how much they mean to me..."

Lumine couldn't stand anymore. She fell to her hands and knees, her tears dripping down onto the floor. "Please... I want to tell them that I love them... and I want to tell Hanari that I don't blame her! Do what you will with me, but give me that last chance... please..!"

Tebiki was silent. She knew that she did what she could, and that her help was at an end in this part. The Shepard was silent , and stood back as Lumine pleaded her case, but even when Tebiki would have usually gone to help her up, she staid put, only nervously glancing up at Akira.

The yama had her fingers interwoven and elbows on desk as Lumine spoke. "A last chance is what you ask for? ...." She spoke a few seconds after Lumine collapsed. Akira had gained a steady hand in her years as a trainee, and now, as an official Yama. The young woman set a hand onto the desk, her fingertips making little to no sound, while she held her hand a little away from her, palm up. At the tip of her fingers, a small glistening produced an antique mirror,Akira peered from Lumine into the mirror that floated centimeters from her skin,"Good. As I suspected you didn't lie. That is a bonus to your plea, celestial. Now.... Do you know why Celestials are in direct defiance of the Samara cycle? Why we hunt them when they are among the living?"

"When a soul ascend their souls are pulled out from the cycle and placed in a heavenly place; more commonly known as Bhavagra by Gensokyan inhabitants. It is a reward for something they did in living that made them more aware of the life they held, in other words, enligthened. When a celestial comes down, they are ignoring then judgement that was passed upon their souls, and even of it was a reward, doing so is what is the defiance to the courts themselves." The whole time she peered into the mirror, and at the end of that, she closed her hand, the mirror disappearing."Demons stay in Hell, Humans in the liing world, Spirts in Hakugykurou or Higan, and Celestials in heaven. We must preseve the balance to make sure we do not lose any souls in the process; self-made demons, hermits, and self-made youkai are the examples of is being too slow to act. That being said..."

Akira open her palm where a Rod of Golden material appear, "I do find something I can do. I can give you a last chance. It is what I can give, and what I see as the best I can give you from both your life's karma and the bit that the shinigami gave to you when she brought death onto you. I must warn you. . . It won't be easy or pretty to experience, as it is important to see I can not allow a soul who defied their previous judgement to return to celestialhood."

She tapped her index finger onto the table, while she tapped the Rod of Remorse against her chin thoughtfully. "I can send you to the living world, but your time would be count. You would go back without the celestial blessing that kept you vigurous for so many years, and slowly, you would weaken physically. It would enough time to do what you need to get done; say your goodbyes and express your emotions. I calculate it'd give you a week or two in living once more. Then your soul would once more be brought here for proper judgement."

"That is whar I can offer you, if you wish to see your family one last time,"
Akira set the rod down quietly,"Ultimately, if you wish to take what I can give , is your choice."
PostPosted: Tue Jan 29, 2013 8:58 am

Lumine took a few moments to collect herself, while she listened to Akira's exposition. She wiped the tears from her eyes and cheeks, and moved to sit on her knees, her head bowed before the Judge.

"I don't care about demons... humans... spirits or Celestials." She said solemnly. "I don't care about any of them. And I don't care about your stupid cycle... I just wanna see my family again..."

The Celestial stifled her sobs as she pushed herself to her feet. She looked up to Akira with eyes that were red and distressed. "I w... I want to go back! I want that chance! It's all that I have left, right? I couldn't live with myself if I had to make them worry... and wonder what happened for the rest of their lives--" Lumine cringed, then held a hand to shield her face as more tears flowed. "I don't.. want them to worry... I want to tell them that I... I'll be okay... I don't--...I don't even know how long it's been since Hanari and I left..."

She forced herself to take a few deep breaths, then straightened herself before Akira. She clenched her fists and looked up to the green-haired girl with determination in her eyes. "So... So send me back! Take what you have to take from me, and send me home! Please..! I know I can't run... I know I can't escape my fate... So I want to spend as much time with my family as I can!" Lumine clapped her hands together and bowed to Akira. "P... Please! I want to take your offer!"

Akira gave a small nod,"Then I will send you back. You may stay as long as your body can hold out. I recommend you avoid any sort of stress or demanding activity; it will allow you body to equally avoid the wear on it."

The Yama stood from her seat, slowly and calculated, raising the Rod of Remorse above her head,"Ready yourself, Mayflower Lumine, judgement has been passed onto your soul, and as the veredict dictates...." The rod came down in unision with her last words,"YOU SHALL BE JUDGED!"

.... And everything went black.

----

When Lumine awoke she'd be somewhere in the forest of magic, with Tebiki siting in a rock close by. Her staff was balanced between her knees and leaned on her shoulder as she reached up to the already numerous ghosts surrounding her. The shepard was at relative ease, not noticing if Lumine stirred for the moment.

As for the celestial, how her revived body was for her to know, and for Tebiki to wonder about.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 30, 2013 10:38 am

Lumine suddenly felt that same numbness wash over her body. Another pang of fear erupted in the pit of her soul, but that too was soon consumed by the darkness.

.....

The semi-sweet smell of the forest filled her first breaths. Lumine awoke on her back, staring up at the sky through the thick tree canopy of the Forest of Magic. She felt warm, warmer than usual, with sweat beading across her brow. The forest felt hotter than she remembered. The Celestial raised an arm to wipe her brow, and somehow found even that motion difficult.

Though lacking in energy, her will and resolve would carry her onward. Lumine rolled over onto her side and curled up, before pushing herself onto her hands and knees, then moving to sit on her knees. Lumine realized she felt tired, as if she hadn't slept in years. She yawned widely and wiped the excess moisture from her eyes, only just now noticing Tebiki's presence nearby.

"...I guess... it wasn't a dream after all... huh?" Lumine tried to stand, but only stumbled a few steps forward, falling back onto her hands and knees. "Ow! ...D... Damn it." Little did she realize, her appearance had changed slightly. Her hair and eyes no longer carried the vibrant shine they usually held, taking on a darker hue, and a weariness could be seen around her eyes as well.

"Hey... Tebiki... Where are we, huh? I'm having trouble recognizing this place..."

Tebiki looked silently, the small spirit startled away from her hand. The celestial was having a hard time getting used to her more human body. The Shepard stood and helped Lumine to her feet, slowly easing the blue headed girl onto her feet. "I am afraid it was not a dream, dear," Tebiki commented, moving her staff so that Lumine could grab onto it as well if she felt like she needed the support,"Hijou-sama was true to her word. You body is unusued to the lack of energy that usually bustled with your celestial blessing. You are essentially a human."

"Not quite, but... If you take a celestial's blessing..." the Shepard commented, and shook her head before answering Lumine's question," We are close to the wolf's den. If I had my guess... It must be a few days after you passed away, given time moves differently her and across the Sanzu not to mention the trip's length to and from. Two, maybe Three." The spirit pointed in a direction,"The tengu's home should be past those trees, just a couple meters away , and past the clearing."

"I will take you to their arms, so that they may watch thou health, and the I will look for Hanari... who I have not since this incident," The Shepard took the Celestials elbow to try and guide her to Michiko's home,"Do not be startled by the scar across your chest; that is from the blow you received. Remember, you have circa two weeks, maybe three or four if you follow Hijou-sama's advice of being sedentary, albeit, from your looks it would seem you need to rest and have no energy to be reckless."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 04, 2013 8:18 am

"A... Human, huh?" Lumine chuckled lightly, holding onto Tebiki's staff for support. "I guess I finally got my wish after all... I didn't think I'd feel so weak, though."

She squinted her eyes, looking past the treeline before them. After her eyes focused at last, she could indeed see the familiar outline of a familiar structure. "Three days... I told them I would be back soon. They must be... worried sick about..." Her voice caught in her throat. How would she approach Michiko and Ochiba? How could she tell them of her doom? Did they already know? Lumine could feel her stomach turn, and her legs weaken. More of her weight was put on Tebiki's staff as she began to shake; not from exhaustion, but from fear.

"I-I don't know what to do..." She took a careful step forward, then another, lead by Tebiki's grasp. "What do I say? How do I... How do I say 'goodbye'?!" Even as Lumine walked forward, more by Tebiki's encouragement than her own, she remained fearful, her head swirling. She could feel her heart pounding, threatening to burst from her chest, and she began to mumble to herself. "I should tell 'em I'm sick, yeah! ...Wait, no, Celestials don't get sick... Um, maybe a ghost...no, that'd be too weird... and I don't wanna scare them. I'll tell them I'm going back to Bhavagra! ... ...But... I wouldn't. I wouldn't leave them. I... I don't want to... Tebiki, I don't wanna leeaaave--" Lumine stifled a sob, hiding her face in the shepard's shoulder. Her hands were shaking on Tebiki's arm. Lumine was genuinely scared.

"It is not that you are weak, its more like you do not have the energy that used to fill you," Tebiki explained supporting Lumine," May I suggest just telling them the truth? There is no going around this, Lumine." The shepard commented as she carried both their weights, only stopping when she felt Lumine's hand shake on her arm. By then they were in the clearing of Michiko's home.

Tebiki turned, taking Lumine's face in her hands gently. As usual the shepard's touch was soothing despite its small lack of warmth. In fact, upon closer inspection, she was much like the temptress from Mara's shrine. Her touch cold and soothing, hiding the death it truly carried; that was Tebiki's curse, just as it was Fuzen. Yet, the two spirits carried their curse differently, and it was obvious as the Shepard peered into the dull eyes of the once-celestial. "It is normal to be afraid. Death is meant to be a surprise, when you know it is coming after you, it becomes a frightening shadow, Lumine, but it should also make it all that less mysterious. Now you know your time, what you should do before it is time to leave."

The spirit put her hand on Lumine's shoulder and ran her hand into the celestial's short hair, trying to pat it into some order. "The two youkai are wise, they will understand and do everything to keep you happy in these last days to enjoy this life." Pulling her sleeve, she wiped any tear from Lumine's cheek,"Remember that life does not end here, m'dear, you of all people should know that."

"Do not fret over details, let it work on its own, we will worry about what comes as it arrives," Tebiki once more held the celestial's face, smiling softly,"For now, enjoy this chance you have been give, please."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 06, 2013 8:23 am

As Tebiki took her face, Lumine stared blankly at her for a moment, then let out a calmed sigh. There was something oddly soothing about the spirit girl's cooled touch, and that something slowly put the ex-Celestial at ease. Lumine nodded silently to Tebiki's words, letting her wipe away the tears she had shed.

"I-I... I guess you're right... Sorry..." Lumine rubbed her face, hiding herself for a moment, and when she looked back up, she beamed with the brightest smile she could show. "I'll try not to worry! It's just, I never had to worry about it at all before... I always had the strength to fight off Shinigami. Suddenly being like... this... and knowing I can't anymore, it's... it's scary... I feel so fragile right now."

Lumine took a deep breath, then stared hard at Michiko's door. "Miss Noroshi... you might want to leave this to me. When I tell them what happened... well, they might want to get back at who they think is responsible. I don't want them to be angry, or to try and hurt you, okay? ...And... thank you for everything!" Unable to contain herself further, Lumine wrapped her arms around Tebiki's shoulders, pulling the girl into a tight hug, or as tight as Lumine could make it. "I owe you my life! Or, what's left of it anyway..."

Breaking their contact, Lumine turned to face Michiko's home, clenching her fists. She took another deep breath and took a few shaky steps forward, closing the gap between herself and the front door. Tentatively, she raised a fist, and knocked weakly...

Tebiki smiled, fixing the last stray bangs from Lumine's forehead,"That is more like it." Suddenly pulled into the hug, the spirit slowly returned the gesture, unused to so much affection. "Don't thank me, Lumine, what you make of this chance will be in your hands and your hands alone," the shepard said," YOu do your best to enjoy your time, heed?"

"I will leave this to you, I will go look for Hanari,"Tebiki backed away as Lumine turned around to face the door,"I will see you soon, Lumine."

By the time the door was opened, Tebiki was gone. Oddly enough the one to open the door was not Michiko nor Ochiba; rather it was the crow tengu Rubuke, who looked bandaged. Her wings weren't openly visible because, from mere eye, they seemed to be bound to her back. "-----?!"
"Rubuke who is..?"
"L-L-----------------"
"Seagull, speak!"
"LUMINE!" Rubuke jumped back.

There was a set of startled "What?" in the background, before Ochiba came running from one side, while Michiko came from the kitchen,"LUMINE?!" Both of the Forest dwellers ran and embraced the ex-celestial.

"Lumine!--- Bu-but Hanari--" The rabbit was sobbing, while the tengu clung to both of them and let her tail wag freely.
