Mort nodded his head in greeting, almost as if he thought talking too much might cause something to happen prematurely. Or he was still stuck in re lull of thought he had mired himself in during the trek over. In either case shortly after he arrived the final barrier slid away, revealing the result he both dreaded and, strangely, was thrilled to see.

There had been a quest here. Callie had felt it, and even now the zomboil felt a tug that exacerbated the already established gnawing at his mind that had settled in ever since the mini pet escapades. Something wanted, no, needed them there.

Quietly he followed Alex and Yin to the wall of runes, examining the runes to see if they were readable; he didn't share Alex's bravado to touch them. Too many weird things in the cavern as it was..."Is uncomfortably familiar," Mort mumbled, pocketing his hands with a frown. "What if other Hunters around? W-Would be sitting ducks."

Roch chased after her, cursing his luck. "If there were mermaids there, I think they woulda got drowned when they entered, Amphi--remember the hot springs?" he said. "And the water's clear enough they woulda seen them--"

Then he stopped at the edge, looking at the ice before crouching down next to her. "This entire jackin' place is the reason Tex's class died, do NOT forget that," he said, not touching the glass, just staring at it darkly. "This and hunters, but we already GOT the hunters."

A sharp intake of breath followed as Astra took in the scene around here. The lake, the treasure, it was just like she had seen before. It was a odd feeling, to essentially dream about something and then experience it. But she was on edge; every so often she could of sworn she heard a soft 'beep', and every time she did, she would jump, expecting the hunters to come after her with nets.

For now, Astra tried to find the source of the beeping noise

"Ooof!" Mitzi hadn't been expecting so enthusiastic a greeting, and was caught a little off-guard by Mei's hug. She grinned, though, hugging the Jiang Shi back. "You too! It's good to see you," she replied happily.

The Reaper ghoul did not really need to be pulled to follow Mei to the edge of the lake, and her eyes were wide as she looked at the treasure strewn below. "I wonder if there's a way to get to that?" she mused, mostly just thinking aloud. She mimicked her friend in testing the surface of the ice, feeling like she had to even knowing what the result would be, but she had no more luck.

She was still vaguely considering how she might get down there, when she heard a familiar voice. She turned, briefly considering heading over to say hi... but he looked busy, so she decided to stay with Mei.

Of course, she was pointedly ignoring a certain greed demon who was standing nearby. Maybe if she pretended he wasn't there he'd get the point and make it so.

... And kept walking.

Cursed? Mei had barely been paying attention to much else as she studied the runes from a far. But the mention of the treasure being cursed made her frown. What kind of curse? The Jiang Shi wondered. Was it really a horrible curse as the boil had seemed to make it?

Sighing, she looked between Mitzi and Chryses. A slight tinge of awkwardness in the air, she tilted her head curiously before shrugging it off. "Chryses have you ever come across cursed treasure before?" She didn't know he was a Greed demon, but Mei figured perhaps he might have some insight about it.

She bit her thumb nail. "Mitzi don't those runes look familiar?"
