"Hmmm? Why yes, I am, Shii. I was merely doing a ritual I read in one of mother's National Geographies magazine that would supposedly appease the unseen forces. Well, we need every bit of help we can get on this god-forsaken rock, don't we?" Sim grinned brightly, his hands mildly stinging, but it was nothing he couldn't handle.

"Now about that fire..." Sim reminded the other red head sweetly, "I would help but I've just utterly exhausted myself with that paganistic display of faith." he added as an excuse.

It had been hours upon hours of flight, and from where Elijah's point of view, while he's barely able to keep his wings going anymor, his guardian is keeping hte same pace as when they'd started. Steady, leisurely beats of the pair of wings much stronger than his own. Eyes narrowing, he gives the extra effort, one of which he can't exactly spare but does anyway, to pull in beside Tobias.

His head turns, a bright but not surprised smile gracing the elder's face. "Well, this really is an engaging flight, isn't it Lij?" he pipes up cheerfully, adjusting the watch on his wrist unconsciously. His bangs brush back against the rest of his unruly hair from the wind patterns, earlier producing only a minor setback for the pair.

Rolling his eyes, Elijah nearly forgets to continue his faster pace, momentarily gulping backwards. Wings spanning about 3/4ths of his guardian, they beat twice as fast to keep the same pace, discouraging Elijah greatly. "Oh, right. Excellent choice of words," he mutters under his breath, the statement almost lost on the wind.

Tobias doesn't let the sarcasm bring him down, instead turning his eyes giddily forward. "I see specks of land ahead, if you were wanted to stop for a brief rest," he suggest brightly, flicking a wrist to something growing in the distance, Elijah now cluing in to be islands. His suggestion is almost absentmindedly, as if he just threw it out there in case he was actually interested in taking a rest, after flying for what seems to be forever.

If he had been within reach of Tobias' neck, not above a massive amount of water, and preferably stronger than his guardian, Elijah would not have hesitated to lunge and take the sucker down. As if the burning sensation of overworked muscles in his back and shoulders isn't complaining too loudly to ignore, his lungs do equal damage to his self esteem. It's embarassing, at least in his eyes, to be the one to have to make them stop for a rest. Besides the vast experience he chooses to ignore that his guardian has, Elijah could very well be at equal caliber as Tobias, their heights and masses zeroing in each other. The truth is hitting him in the face; if he doesn't take this opportunity to stop, his wings will collapse someplace out across the water later, and that would be much more embarassing than accepting the chance at a rest.

"Fine," he growls sharply, snapping his head and gaze away. "But we aren't gonna stop long out in the middle of nowhere. Just for a snack and to rest m'wings a little, and we're off again." Lies, of course. After that, he feels like he could sleep for weeks undisturbed, given the chance of course. This answer seems acceptable, though, because Tobias nods and veers forty five degrees to the right on their course without any second thoughts.

No less than ten minutes later do they make their landings. Tobias' feet hit the ground first, his wings folding with a silent sigh against the guardian's back, his shoulders stretching back to relax his muscles. Elijah's landing is far less elegant, his bare feet skidding into the sand and his lungs let out a gasp of air upon impact. His left wing crumples, folding its tip over in utter exhastion.

Smoothing his hand over the feathers, Elijah curses quietly under his breath. If he hadn't been so tired.. if, if, if. It all comes down to chance, doesn't it? Straightening up, he quickly moves his bare feet as the heat of the sand takes its toll on the flesh.

Tobias pulls his fingers through his hair, his longer bangs falling down into their regular place as if they hadn't been whipped for hours before. "Looks like we've got some exploring to do," he says in a way identical to that of a kid in a candy store. Elijah groans softly, but opens his eyes for the first time to the surroundings, quickly glad he hadn't missed his landing and wound up on those rocks..

((I'll let Xannyia decide what to do with Sarria. heart ))

Aurore let Ronin swim off, only grabbing at a couple of the lifejackets and shoving them in Ronin and Kami's way. Kami was very slender and probably light, Aurora decided, he could help her.

Plus, it'd make him feel better about being amungst older simu. He'd feel older! ...maybe. Aurora, after pushing another lifejacket in Sarria's direction, made her way back to the beach. She could follow the colorful rope's direction if she got dunked, that color contrasted against the sand and the surf could get anyone's attention.

...the scarf.

"Huh?" Aurora stared at it as she trudged out of the surf, staring at the scarf. But instead of bothering to figure that out, Aurora wandered away from Ura and Sim. Zanna had left, apparently. Rora wasn't going to leave the group, but she was wet and what was left of her clothing was clinging. She'd just dry away from the group. Faaaar away.

A few short and sheltered beaches later, Aurora came across another beach. This one was long and golden, with two very interesting birds. Even if one of them had cooties. Aurora broke into a jog, calling as she came near, "Hello! You're both interesting wildlife?"

It's hard to tell which one is more shocked about seeing Aurora, both portraying identical expressions. Elijah is quicker to respond, however, shaking away his disbelief and replacing it with sarcasm.

"What luck brings us the rarest of all island dwellers, maximus cootieous?" he retorts, silently glad she hadn't seen him with his wing all folded over. They ache all the way from their origin in his back to their still recovering tips, but he tries not let that reflect outwardly.

Tobias shakes his head, slightly embarassed by Lij's childish fued with Aurora. "Is everything okay? Everyone safe?" he inquires, taking a few steps forward, his sandals sinking easily in the hot sand. Having been the only ones with alternate transportation methods, Elijah and Tobias took to the air, but obviously the worry for their fellow Simu and travellers had bothered the both of the during the flight.

Aurora glared slightly, but she was too relieved to see the two safe to really care. He could rant about cooties all he wanted! Besides, Tobias was here.

Rora liked that Tobias was here, liked that a lot. So she went straight over to the older of the two, shrugging weakly. "I think we're all okay, just wet to the bone and tired. The lifeboat sank before we got here... they're all over in that direction."

She guestured to the rocky area, that she'd just climbed over. "A couple of beaches away, if you can be bothered climbing the rocks. Everyone exept Zanna, who went solo."

Elijah perks up at the mention of Zanna, his heart sinking in his chest to learn that she could be just about anywhere. Oh well, perhaps "exploring" would be a wise thing to do after all..

Tobias nods, serious booting out the playfully kind attitude. The parent part of him has, indeed, affected him, as much as he'd like to think otherwise. "I would, actually. Just to be sure of it m'self, y'know. I'd feel horribly responsible if we all didn't come back in one piece."

Lifting a hand, he offers it to Aurora. "You wouldn't mind showing me where, Aurora? If you're not too busy, that is."

Behind him, Elijah makes audible gagging noises, even falling to his knees in the sand for effect.

Sim leaned back against the sand, allowing his skin and his wet unmentionables to dry by themselves until Ura started the fire. He had seen Aurora wander off to explore the island but decided to do absolutely nothing about it.

Why should he waste anymore of his energy? That and he was a little shaken over the pain in his arms. He wasn't sure what caused it, maybe it was because he tried to help others? He certainly didn't experience so much as a sting when he altered the bandana for Zanna. What made this time so different?

He frowned and sat back up, heading back to the location of his bag and his feather boa. "Alas, poor darling, I had you for such a short spanse of time." he sighed dramatically, cradling the wet accessory to his chest as if it had been a beloved pet instead of a piece of clothing.

"We'll be all right, things off the boat floated, and some stuff was grabbed. They'll find us soon enough?" Aurora took Tobias's hand, face lighting up into a little grin as she did. But she couldn't help giving into the temptation, kicking a little bit of sand at Elijah. Drama queen. He and Sim would be best of friends.

"Not too busy at all. It's not too far a walk, just a few rocks to climb over and a few beaches to cross." Aurora started back again, leading them.

Ura couldn't help but roll his eyes at Sim. Fine, he got all the wood, he'd probably be the one building the fire too. And seeming as how Ronin and Aurora were engaging in rescue attempts... yeah, definitly ruled him to be the fire builder.

Gathering the branches - with breaking some of them in half or just smaller - he contrstucted the wood in a manner that was obviously how it was supposed to be. (and 'cause the fire building doesn't need to be gone into. It's a fire, you know how they're built.) Glancing to the side he noticed the discarded notebook and snatched it from the sand. He needed tinder and paper usually worked well; so he tore and rolled the pieces up and threw them in. All he needed were matches, yeah. .... he didn't have matches. Ura looked up and over to Sim, ready to ask him ... but stopped. Yeah, um... probably nothing from him.

And then Aurora ran past them. He grumbled, hating himself for even trying to get her attention, but matches... "Oi! Aurora...." But she was already out of sight. "dammit, stupid... need matches..." He muttered under his breath. He was going to have to do this the hard way.. wasn't he. Or, well.

"Sim, you wouldn't have matches, would you?" He finally asked the red head next to him with a sigh. And then rolled his eyes again as he watched the scene with the boa.
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2005 12:23 am

"Hm? I beg your pardon, Shii? Matches? Oh dear, I don't believe I do... but wasn't there a box of water proof ones? Perhaps they've washed ashore? Shall I go take a look for you?" Sim offered, batting his eyes at Ura, he needed an excuse to wander off so that he could attempt at reviving his feather boa. He wasn't about to risk being seen using his abilities again.

Why was Sim batting his eyes at him? One of Ura's eyes twitched as he just stared at the other teen. "Um, okay..." He couldn't help but inch a little bit aways from Sim, "Yeah... go look for the matches..."
PostPosted: Sun May 01, 2005 1:03 am

"Splendid! I shall be off now!" Sim declared, but before he left, he fished out from his bag his orange kerchief. Waving, the teen wandered off into the opposite direction Aurora had gone.

Accidentally inhaling a bit of sand while flopping about, Elijah's gags turn into real coughs before quieting down completely. With a tired glare he averts his eyes from his guardian and the infinately cootied girl, focusing on nothing in particular over the water. He'd go off and explore on his own, but right now both his feet and wings - heck, his entire aching body - needs a rest.

Tobias smiles down at Aurora, his eyes flickering back at Elijah as his coughing fit ends. He allows himself to be lead, though tried to keep his pace matched with hers. "Of course they'll find us. No doubt they've already sent out boats of rescue teams to look for us. And once Lij and myself are rested up, we'll scower the surrounding area for them and speed up the process."

Sounds like a great idea in theory, and that's the frame of mind he'd like to remain thinking in for the time being.

"You're right, they'd probably already be out looking for us." Aurora reluctently let go when they reached hte rocks, needing both hands for balance to climb the high water carved rocks. "And maybe you can see if anyone else is around, they must have put off more lifeboats than just ours."

She continued to climb, jogged the ten metres across the beach, and reached a second set of rocks, a second tiny beach, and finally the third set of rocks seperating the Simu from the other part.

Aurora hesitated. She'd wanted to escape from Ura, and now she was going right back into his company. Rora wished he'd gone solo with Zanna, or something.

Oh well. At least she was nearly dry now.

"They're over there." Aurora guestured to the rocks, and sat on one of the warm ones. "I'll just ... sit here for a bit."

Sim had trotted far enough away from the others that he was alone, oh he had to climb over some rocks now and then but he wanted to be completely sure no one was around to witness what he intended to do.

So far, he had been successful in manipulating his clothes, now he wanted to try and 'save' his feather boa. With his orange kerchief in his one hand, and the ruined accessory in the other, Sim sat himself down onto the sand to concentrate.

Before he could even begin, Sim shuddered, a little worried about the pain that might follow. His hands were still a little tender, but Sim wasn't expecting to transform the boa into something, just regenerate that solitary feather that Zanna had sliced off.

"I went all this way out here, am I about to give up?" Sim wondered aloud with a sigh, "Oh why not, I can always try to salvage this darling boa when I return to civilization. Then again, I can always get mother to purchase me a new one! Oooo, splendid!"

With that in mind, Sim ventured back to the beach where everyone had been. As he walked he realized just how plain and bland his clothing was (given he was dressed only in his white drawers) and pouted. He wrung out as much water from the orange kerchief as he could and grinned. Without wasting anymore time, he tried the kerchief around his head to serve as a bandanna. At least this way the bright colors would draw their attention to his head rather than his lower extremeties.

Along the way, he scoured the waters, in search of the matches so that they could finally get the fire started. It took a good while of searching before he saw the waterproof matches in the tidepool.

"Shii!!! I have the matches!" he declared brightly, waving the box in the air as he walked back.
