"Aaaah...Aaaaaaaaah...." It wasn't so much a scream as a very worried noise as the Sun-trainee stared upward at the towering monstrosity.
Thankfully, instinct took over and Jerry raised his weapon.

Roar was, thankfully, a lot better at keeping his cool in these situations. In fact he *existed* for these situations. As Jerry was busy wailing in terror, the bazooka erupted forth in a blast that sent the smoke swirling away in a temporarily cleared tunnel before pounding into the worming, rotting creature.
Jerry, meanwhile, was blown backward and figured now was a good time for a short breather laying on his back while trying to spot bunnies in the clouds.
Damage: 15

"Glad you're okay.." Bix patted the shoulder of the orangey blob that was his partner. "Keep on your toes we have to take this down.." The temporary lull was over as the monster rose again from underneath them. He gaped when we saw the glows of orange coming from inside. The thought of what that was turned his stomach. The ground underneath him shifted and spines rose up all around. He shoved Tedan, hoping to clear the other hunter from being hurt but only ended up being stabbed by them himself. He fell back to the ground, looking pretty bashed up. [HP: 10 / 40 ( DISABLED ) Target: -- Damage: -- Weapon Charge: 1 / 3 Charge Attack: Pinions of the Dawn Star; Using Swift Strikes. Bix fires an arrow into the air which splits into many arrows and rains down on the enemy. ]

Wincing, Deryk was still trying to move, but it was futile. What was this he was hearing about someone possibly being alive in that thing? He had tossed aside his mask earlier to try and see more clearly, so he couldn't tell if there were any heat signatures around.

Cass lightly elbowed Aleister when he retreated behind her, grinning. "See? You're getting the hang of it. Just listen to your headvoice and they'll keep you covered. Sometimes Nick just takes over minor muscles for me to get me doing it right." she noted. Though, Nicodemus was really the Clarence of her head. She would have been afraid of that scenario if she wasn't relatively sure that he couldn't do that extent of damage to her.
Or rather, that he wouldn't, if he could. Or else he would have done it already.
"Now, we might want to move back further in case this thing starts flailing!" She didn't like the idea of it thrashing and smashing them both, to be honest.

Flicking up the heat-sensor again, Petra twisted her mace in her hand, feeling him thrum with power from the fear he exuded. He was ready. Ready to taste the flesh of the wounded creature tear, eager to inflict pain. It would have worried her, had she had half a mind to consider it, but as it was she was too deep-seeded into the fight to notice. That same eagerness, need to destroy seeped into her muscles, her shoulders and arms tightening, coiling beneath skin as she lifted Cain higher, the sharp spikes of the silver mace shining brilliantly in the sunlight.
Kicking off the sand, she sprinted towards the creature, seeing nothing but the rows of body bags in her minds eye, hear the sound of the senior moon hunter's foot squelching decomposing human flesh beneath her foot.
She didn't even see Jerry sprawled on the ground, not until she had tripped over his foot, stumbling as she swung, her mace connecting with the creature's flesh, but just barely. Instead, she flopped onto her knees into the sand with a startled sound, face planting and skidding a little, the sound of a heavy thud following as Cain became embedded in the desert floor.
"...?"(Note: already rolled about a page back for paralysis-check) HP: 40/40 Damage: 2 Charge: 3/3 (although it's uselessssss) Fear attack: Darkness like a smokescreen engulfs either Petra or the enemy upon any impact. Creates a feeling of suffocation and panic for the enemy. Renders it difficult for the enemy to see.

" I'm not sure Puca would call that 'getting the hang of it'. He still sounds grumpy to me...." Aleister was still grinning though since he'd managed to smack the monster. " Backing up is good..." The trainee didn't need much prodding to actually move back away from that ugly brute. He didn't want to be crushed either. Of course he was keeping Puca in hand ready to try to do something like that again if he got the chance.

Before may or may not have been covered in random materials that kept him from taking part earlier. When the monster burst forth this time around, the trainee managed to avoid getting impaled by those spikes. Somehow. Before is not so sure himself ;;

The smoke cleared. Then suddenly the monster burst from the ground again. Sherry felt a stab of pain and caught sight of another of its spines as the creature rose out of the sand. She fell to her knees, Armagnac still held tightly in her hands.
It came from below! Sherry stared at the rotting creature. It was too big to miss, really. Oh, lord. Just what was that thing?!
HP: 16/30
Status: Paralyzed!

Perhaps it was because Before kept his mask on that saved him some shred of dignity as he scrambled to his feet, summoning Vanna in the process. The weapon begged to be wielded, Do not go near it, Before! I'll return you.
Okiedokie, you're the boss! he nodded mentally to his partner as he spun on his heels before releasing her. The sandy ground made him lose his balance, the release affecting his aim and sending him sprawling on his back when the weapon returned from her ricochet.
HP: 40/40

Flicking ehr gaze up towards the monster as the smoke cleared, the trainee felt her mouth grow dry. It was HUGE. If they needed any confirmation about the creatures diet... the proof was in the pudding. Or, falling out of the creatures stomach in this instance. Eyes locked on the beast, she found herself unable to dodge once again the barbs as they flew out at the group. If she was not stunned, she felt like she would have been sick.  HP: 20/40 Status: Stunned damage: NADA

Tori swore that she could hear Aklin murring in delight as her last attack had made contact and did some damage. But will all that smoke she had lost were it had been. So she thought it was a good idea to get back over to where she had left, Before when she had attacked this creature.
Just as she had gotten back over near her fellow Lifer the creature had come back out of the ground and this time she wasn't so lucky as one of the spikes hit her and now she was paralyzed.
Oh s**t! Was all that she could think as she was still feeling so unprepared or something of the like.

Way to hit your friend, idiot. Atropos grumbled, desummoning herself again. What a waste of effort. Candace frowned. No. Not cool. She could try again damnit the thing was--

Candace looked around, confused. Where did it go? Did..did they kill it? She took a few steps back, looking for a few certain people. Harrison? He was over there...ah, Katherine was there. Wait..wait where was Jerry?! Jerry?! Where did he--oh. He was on the ground wait why was he on the ground oh s**t was he dead nonono he wasn't allowed to die she told him that last time damnit that idiot! She moved to try and run over to him until she was hit in the leg with a spike, falling to the ground with a howl of pain and reaching down to cling to her leg. ******** eyes glared up at the monster as it opened its mouth, though they widened when she noticed the slight glimmer of colors. Heat. There was heat in there. "Did..did it ******** YOU, DICE))

The thing had all but collapsed as Kat's attack struck. It literally began to half-melt, half-decompose further, almost all bits of black curling away to reveal an exposed deep red underbelly. Though the body heaved, still making a strange wheezing noise, the rest of it had long stopped moving, as if it had fused with the sands itself.
It simply lay there as Jerry, Petra, and then Milton's attack hit the thing, the creature sinking a little into the sand further with each blow, its mass reduced to a mere five feet high, still dribbling bits and pieces of black ooze and flesh. Just one more hit and the creature would -
-"TRAINEES, STOP ******** ATTACKING." Caelius's voice bellowed through the headset, causing the earphones to crackle with static. His figure was walking towards them, a good twenty yards away, scythe in tow.

Reeling, Reine managed to peel herself off the rock- but her headset had been knocked off after the impact, and she could only watch as it sunk, bubbling, into the gloopy grey mess.
She wasn't about to bother digging for it- there were more important things to do.
Charging at the monster, she summoned Alynthe again.
Yessssssssss, the swordbreaker hissed. LET ME AT IT.
Shards of ice flew at the monster, clinging to it, as the blade sliced cleanly through part of the creature. As she landed back on the ground, the ice shattered.
"I actually.. hit it," she gasped, speaking to no one in particular. "What.. what was that even, what did you do... what.."
MOREMOREMOREMOREMORE. Alynthe's voice was high and shrill. what are you doing standing there you lousy ******* HIT IT AGAIN.
... Alynthe? She was suddenly afraid of her weapon, her partner.. a chill ran down her spine, despite the heat of the desert. The swordbreaker's screams rang in her ears, refusing to stop even when she tried to calm her weapon down.
