Pasiphae had been lucky; calling her shield meant only 2 locusts had gotten to her in the sheltered space, and these she quickly smacked to the ground before crushing them beneath her boots. However, she immediately regretted calling for ther shimmering shield whenever she was Nyx, Ganymede, and Valhalla being attacked, when she saw all those around her being attacked.

Bile rose hot and quick in her throat, but all she could do was wait for the time limit of the shield to run out... and then she would do her best to help anyone around her defeat the locusts.

Locusts, my God.

THEY WERE EVERYWHERE, BITING. The droning buzz from their wings drowned out any other sound. It was akin to some nightmarish sensation she had only read about in creepypasta, and usually one of the more eye-rolling ones at that.

Never again.

Sailor Nyx couldn't stop a scream as she tried to swat those on her away, only to have others take their places. Except for the flailing, she was all but paralyzed.

[BUUUUUUGS
Virgo: 1
Gunn: 17
Avalon: 10
Marienrode: DEAD sad ]

Virgo didn't even have to look to kill the single locust that attacked her. It was kind of sad and pathetic.

Gunn laughed, right in Scylla's face. "Who. The ********. Cares," she spat into the other eternal's face, then yanked back at the Super senshi's fuku. It tore like tissue paper, and Gunn smiled as she held it aloft. She smiled at the locusts as they swarmed, she smiled at Scylla and Leto and last of all, she smiled at Hephaistos. "Get down," she said, calmly.

An unprecedented number of locusts had swarmed her, but Gunn ignored them and spun in place, sparks gathering at her fingertips like they'd become sparklers, the blue polish reflecting gold and orange light like it had become mirrors. "A dying ember becomes a raging fire, Gunn Wildfire Power..." she incanted, the sparks growing into tiny embers. As they contacted the locust enemies, the bugs died with what sounded, to Gunn, like screams. "Blow Up." Her power obeyed her, exhilarating and pure, brilliant flames flying out from Gunn's outstretched fingertips and scorching everything above ground level within five meters of her, sustained for ten whole seconds. When it faded, Gunn stood unmoving, a smile on her face.

If you had bug problems, she felt bad for you, son. Gunn had ninety-nine problems, but locusts weren't one.
----
Avalon, though, did not have magical fire powers. She just had magical apple powers, which were helpful only in that she'd been able to distract most of her giant enemy locusts by throwing her magic untouchable apple as far away from her as she could, which apparently meant off the Surrounding. She pulled it back to hand, panting a bit with the effort of that and the energy wear-and-tear of everything else. That still left her with an obscene amount of insects to ineffectually bat away, which sucked.

Avalon Bugs Remaining: 10
----
Marienrode's impromptu hiding space had kept her safe so far, protecting her from everything except her own self-loathing. But even that had faded, and now she just huddled, miserable, doing her best to stay out of the way of the combatants. She couldn't even dream of going to look for younger civilians to help; she felt transfixed, staring at a bloodied hand. It hadn't moved for a long while. It had only twitched when a fighter's boot had stomped hard on it.

She studied the pattern of blood along the fingers from her place laying on her side, hands over her head, knees brought up to protect her torso. The deeper, darker splatters were near the palm, where it pooled. The fingertips were barely stained, and it was beginning to flake. This person was dead, the owner of the hand was no longer breathing, they were free of the terror of this battle. Marienrode exhaled, a slow and shaky breath.

Alive. Marienrode de Virolai Sierra-Preto, untouched and alive.

She heard screams behind her, the dull whump of something that sounded like a bomb; a silhouette of the stone flared into view in brilliant golden light, three times. The last time, there were small shadows, little smudges on the rainbow road.

She saw the locust on the length of her leg, and thought uncertainly of Gilbert, of James, of all the people she'd left behind, roses in a window box, the welcoming skyline of Destiny City from the back yard. Buildings rose up to reach the sky, curving over her backyard like a protective birdcage but Earth was so far away she couldn't even see it. Marienrode slapped the bug away when it bit her, but it came back. The movement, though, let her focus on the bright red pit that had appeared in her leg, the shine of blood as it pumped through the muscle, forming a rivulet of blood that tracked down the curve of her calf, forming a puddle on the iridescent road.

Another spike of pain, and she flailed out at a second locust, picked up a rock and smashed it down on its head. The other fled, and she felt a small moment of triumph. Had she frightened them away?... Marienrode looked up towards the stars, searching out for Earth. For home.

All she saw was Death rushing towards her on insects' wings.

"Hesperis?" Valhalla asked sharply, not liking what it sounded like Naica was saying about his friend, but there wasn't anything he could do at the moment for his fellow page. s**t...

Not only that, but there were bugs suddenly swarming everywhere! What the heck?!
PostPosted: Sat Oct 15, 2011 7:12 pm

Okay, so the bugs weren't gross or really anything compared to all the blood and death around them, but they sure were annoying as all hell.

Ganymede flicked some more away, knocking one off of his shoulder when it bit him, too.

b*****d.

And then she was on the ground. The new Chronos page let out a squeak as a boy page landed on top of her, after tackling her. Suddenly she wasn't so strong. Suddenly she was just little Layton again. The braided girl, constantly worrying about her older brother, and constantly being picked on.

As Celsus' arm went up, the page couldn't help but think, I'm doomed! I don't want to be powerful anymore. Take it back take it back take it back. She awaited for the cruel arm to come down and claw her apart.

But it never came. Suddenly, his face softened, and he seemed terrified. Did she do something? Did it matter? He was off her and backing away. All she could do was gasp, "Wh-what ..."

Then he was over her again, and she flinched, prepared for the worse. Now he was ... protecting her? It seemed the bugs had left her but ... what was going on?!

Esperite Locusts: 19
Madness had a strange effect on the mind. One moment, Esperite was atop the Great One, readying for their assault on the Surrounding. Plans of attack were already being formulated for certain targets the crimson eyed lieutenant despised. Retribution was the name of the game as he made sure to use the high vantage point to scout them out. No one would escape his fury this time; he swore on it as he each plastic dagger was summoned to his side. Anger coursed through his veins, and as the seconds passed, Esperite's grip tightened on the handle of each dagger.

However, the plans of revenge never came to fruition as Esperite could only remember the call of his leader and the overwhelming surge of power. Personal vendettas faded away with the rest of Esperite's personal identity. The madman that remained may have looked like him, but that is where the similarities ended. A crooked, broken expression covered his face and his body moved in a savage, animalistic manner as Esperite indiscriminately attacked anyone who tried to come near the Great One.
-----------------------------------
Boreas Locusts: 4
Relentlessly launching magical attacks at the huge youma before him didn't seem to be paying off; especially when his only indication that the youma recognized his efforts was a swarm of locusts. Their timing was either perfect of horrible, depending on the point of view. Boreas needed time to recover his magical energy and dealing with flesh eating bugs wasn't one of his specialties when it came to hand to hand combat.

"Get off me!"

Raising each arm to swat a bug down, a direct hit was rewarded with the unsettling sound of the bug's body breaking. With a quick kick and stomp, another locust fell to the ground. The senshi of winter knew there had to be more productive ways of killing the disgusting bugs, but he simply fell back on simple swats and stomps.

Captain Mica had, as was typical of her, been staying on the outside of the fray, picking off stragglers, darting in only when she saw an easy opening. She probably would’ve stuck to this fighting method had it not been for the blast energy that left her feeling angry. Really angry. Enraged really, and seeing nothing but red. She abandoned her typical fighting style and instead leapt recklessly into the fray. Soon she was joined by a small swarm of locusts, an addition she hardly noticed as she struck out at the nearest perceived target.

Going to defend and protect the giant youma he grabbed his paintbrush as he ran passed it. He couldn't believe he'd left it somewhere, how careless and just...utterly stupid. He'd scold himself later though, later was what he'd been doing with a lot of things lately. Putting things - thoughts and actions to the back burner.

"Yes ! Hesperis !"

He hadn't seen what had gotten her, really, only taken her to hopefully safety.

Chronos' outpost couldn't be less unsafe than this. Hopefully. Maybe,

Had he finally squashed some ? OH GOD. "GET THEM OFFFFFFF" Flail.

A few was fine, but it seemed Maia wasn't so fortunate, as she effectively gained Wolframite's undivided attention or rather malice and found herself being swarmed with far more bugs than she really care to deal with. It was awful to be bitten and be rather vision impaired for the second time in one battle, first for her eyes swimming with tears and now bugs swarming her.

Her arms flailed about swatting at the bugs while her feet did one heck of a dance as she tried to escape them and keep her balance at the same time. It was probably a hilarious sight to see.

Anyone who might possibly catch a glimpse of her face would see she was utterly frustrated and at the same time furious at her ridiculously bad luck.

"Arggghhh," she shouted, "ah off, gedoff."

These suckers were going down. One by one, Ganymede flicked and batted the locusts away, smacking them with his hand when they came in to bite him, and smushing the ones that ended up on the ground beneath his boot.

“Screw you, you little pieces of s**t,” he cursed.

Then there was only one left.

Oh god. They were... They were getting into his wounds. Crawling through the cuts of his coat and bodice, getting to whatever skin they could get, and biting.

Uuuugh.

GROSS. Yes, even Themis had his limits. "Themis Noise Amplification !"

It helped, but not enough. He couldn't summon his shield for these things, he had to keep it !

Valhalla grabbed onto Nacia's wrist to drag him back to where he'd been standing with Ganymede and Pasiphae before. There were so many bugs, though, it was difficult to see where everyone was.

"Stay with me," he pretty much demanded of Nacia, not wanting his friend out of his sights again. If they could just stay together... maybe they could fight this thing. At least they would have support for each other.

Besides, he also wanted to fuss over Naica some more since he was, you know, covered in blood... and bugs, but with a few slaps and well placed flails, they could kill them off... hopefully.
