I play the Bari Sax (a.k.a. Bubba). I just learned this year. I picked it up surprisingly quickly. I think that it would be really fun to play if I wasn't playing the school's crappy excuse for a saxophone.
This is a great guild because I have a couple questions about it that I really need answered.
1. If I play almost any note and then play G, it sounds like I'm playing it as F#. My tuner even registers it as F#. The only way I can fix it is if I play an Ab right before. It's becoming such a habit now that it is affecting my flute playing. (which currently is more important to me than the bari sax because I have a festival coming up in two days but that's another story.) Is there an alternate fingering or something that I could use? I looked in my directors magic fingering chart but it didn't have one. Just let me know if there is one.
2. Lately, Bubba's been having problems playing D. I'm not sure why. (actually there are a couple of reasons why it could be but I'm not paying to get someone else's sax fixed. If you have an explanation please tell me!
Bubba has been at the school longer than I've probably been alive. There's a whole legacy that goes along with this instrument. If you're interested in knowing... ask me. ^^
Thanks.
