The car ride was pretty quiet, but Arielle couldn't help but feel excited. She could tell that Maria was probably celebrating in her head. As the sights of her school became visible, she had to control herself from running out the car then and there.
As Kedrick parked and opened up the door for them, Arielle came out calmly, standing besides Kedrick. Maria came after her and almost ran to the gym.
"C'mon you two!" Maria exclaimed happily, pulling them with her, "We can't afford to take all day!"

Kedrick gave her a short snicker, "Alright Maria, coming." he said with a smile. "well.....she seems a little bit excited." he commented rhetorically to Arielle. 'your chance to tell her is right in there...' he thought. once again forgetting to add Dimitri to the equation. 'just a bit into the dance, you can tell her, and no chickening out....' he added to himself. He offered his arm to Arielle, feeling slightly embarrassed as he opened the door to the harvest dance.

Arielle giggled and nodded, "Maria gets excited about social events like this. I think she made this perfect list of what she wanted to happen during tonight. I have to say, she's just a big dreamer." She saw that Maria had already left them behind, although she was lacking her date somehow. She even wondered where Dimitri was, feeling a small bit of worry.
She noticed the offered arm and took it, smiling shyly. She tried her hardest not to blush like an idiot, even though it didn't help that her heart was racing at a ridiculous speed. When Kedrick opened the door, she heard the music blasting the door as kids danced to Rocketeer by far East Movement featuring Ryan Tedder.
"Wow," Arielle said in awe, "The gym looks amazing. You can hardly tell it's a gym anymore. Okay, minus the basketball hoops, but still." She grinned at Kedrick, "Ready?"

"mhmm." Kedrick nodded his consent, walking into the glorified gym, hung with streamers, and decorations. "wow." he mumbled softly, glancing around. "I've never been to a dance like this before, it's big...and...." he trailed off momentarily. "it's great." he finished, looking at Arielle with a huge smile. He turned to face her, taking her hands with a smile, "well, what are we waiting for? and invitation? let's dance." he said excitedly.

"Well then," Arielle said with a grin, "I'm glad I'm here to share this wonderful memory of your first dance. I know you'll have a great time." She smiled as Kedrick continued complementing her school gym, feeling a small sense of pride even though she had nothing to do with the decorating. Kedrick felt her cheeks warm as Kedrick held her hands in his and asked to dance with her. She could only nod, with a sheepish grin, feeling like words would fail her. Eventually, she was able to get at least a few words out of her mouth. "Yeah, let's dance."

Kedrick couldn't help but smile as the two of them danced, and even though words eluded him, he felt satisfied and happy. They had been dancing for a little while when Kedrick found the words to speak. "uh...Arielle, There's been something..I've...I've been wanting to tell you." He looked up at her, his gaze locking with hers. "I...I lo.." Kedrick suddenly frowned, there was something hard pressing into his shoulder. Kedrick glanced over his shoulder and was mortified to see Dimitri casually leaning against him, making it hard for Kedrick to dance, and impossible to tell Arielle how he felt. He wheeled around to face Dimitri, almost coming nose to nose with him before Dimitri stepped back a bit. "wh...where have you been?" he asked in a slightly accusing tone. Dimitri smiled. "did you miss me?" he asked playfully. Kedrick sighed. "frankly, yes, and where did you get that?" he asked pointing to a rapidly forming bruise on his cheek. Dimitri paled slightly before composing himself with a smooth smile. "don't worry about it, I'll tell you later." he promised, then added. "mind if I cut in?" Kedrick frowned slightly. "what?" he asked. "Mind if I cut in, you know, dance with Arielle?" he asked, enunciating her words carefully. Kedrick momentarily stammered for words, honestly he did mind, but he couldn't let Dimitri know that, he would have made a big deal out of the whole thing. "ah...no..." he mumbled, "I don't mind..." Dimitri grinned at him. "great he said, and when to move past him before Kedrick caught his shoulder again. "but don't do anything stupid." he said, and Dimitri put a hand on his friends shoulder. " you've got nothing to worry about, I promise." he said, moving past him. Kedrick nodded slowly. "'kay..." he mumbled softly.
Dimitri walked over in front of Arielle."hello!" he said with a smile.

Arielle couldn't find the ways to express the joy she felt while she was dancing with Kedrick. It was definitely a complete dream come true. She was glad they didn't speak because she would of had no idea what to talk about.
Eventually, after a few songs, Kedrick had found his voice. She looked up at him curiously. Her heart stopped for a brief second before racing again. What was he going to tell her? Was it what she thought it was? Sadly, she wasn't able to find out when she saw Dimitri.
She only watched the conversation going on between the two of them, not once saying anything. She actually didn't want Dimitri to cut in at all. She would have voiced that, but had no heart to tell him. She felt a bitter sadness when Kedrick let go of her. It was like the magic she felt while dancing with him was gone.
Her eyes followed Kedrick before returning back to Dimitri. She smiled at him, trying to act as if she wasn't upset about what had just happened. She had a feeling that Maria would probably kidnap Kedrick with her to a dance. "It's nice to see you again, Dimitri. How are you? You look very handsome tonight."

Dimitri smiled, and almost looked a little...awkward... 'what's the matter with my tonight?' Dimitri thought to himself. 'every time I look at her my stomach feels all wiggly....stupid Dimitri....' He quickly shook his head out of the clouds. "thanks," he replied, taking in her appearance, starting at her shoes, and moving up all the way to her hair. "you do to I might add." he said with a smile. He briefly held up his hands. "now I feel I must tell you, I have a bad habit of being a bit....pushy...with my date." he said, then hastened to continue. "but, you've got nothing to worry about, Kedrick said to be a gentleman, and what he says goes." Dimitri said, and Arielle got the funny feeling that she could trust him on this one. In fact, In this light, when he wasn't acting like a total flirt, there was something almost...charming about him. Arielle got the impression that if he tried hard enough, Dimitri could be a really great guy.

He's acting a lot different than before, Arielle thought before feeling herself smile at Dimitri's compliment. "Oh no, it's nothing. My friend, Maria actually helped me out with all this. I probably wouldn't even look this nice without her. I'll have to introduce you to her before the night is over."
Maria had noticed Kedrick standing by himself and stood next to him. She looked over and saw that another boy was now talking to Arielle. She looked back and forth between Kedrick and the other boy before finally saying, "Why did you stop dancing with her?"
Listening to Dimitri talk, Arielle could see that he was trying his hardest to be a gentleman, for Kedrick's sake. She could only nod and smile brightly. "Well, I'm glad you won't be too pushy. I guess we should dance now, no?"

Dimitri smiled. "no..I mean yes!" he said quickly, recovering from his mistake. He smiled at her, and Arielle could help but note that that kind of mistake was something Kedrick would do. Maybe, with all the time they had spent together, Kedrick had rubbed off on him.
Kedrick jumped slightly when Maria approached him, he hadn't seen her coming. "uhhh.." he fumbled to answer her question. "my friend, Dimitri," he said, pointing to the young man with the black hair. "he wanted to dance with Arielle....I'm sort of worried...because I think he's really serious about her..." Kedrick didn't mention that that wasn't the only reason he was worried.

Arielle couldn't herself from giggling at Dimitri's small mistake. It definitely reminded her of Kedrick. She glanced at his direction and saw that Maria had already found him. She smiled but worried about what the girl would say. Trying not to worry about it, she grabbed Dimitri's hand and pulled him in deeper into the gym, mixing in with all the dancing students.
"So that's Dimitri?" Maria said with a small smile, "He's kind of cute, but he's stealing your girl. If it was me, I would claim dominance. But then again, Arielle's to kind and somewhat fragile. She hates hurting people's feelings. Although, I know she has no interest in Dimitri. There's this one guy she keeps talking about whenever she thinks of him. But you never know how her feelings might change during the evening." Maria grinned a sneaky grin, trying to find out the reaction that Kedrick would give. She knew that Arielle had a thing for Kedrick and it wasn't that hard to notice that Kedrick liked Arielle. But Dimitri was throwing off her plan. She would have to find some way to bring them together. No matter what.

Kedricks eyes widened "feelings? change?" he asked, the words over-loading his data-base. "n-no way, not possible." He said to maria acting like he was totally in denial. But, he also knew that Dimitri was perfectly capable of being the most charming, handsome, funny guy any girl could ask for, and not the mention that He seemed intensely serious about Arielle. 'and knowing Dimitri, He wont rest until Arielle goes out with him....or is spoken for...' he added to himself sneakily. He was about to say something to Maria when he saw Dimitri lifting a hand to call him over from the middle of the gym. "one sec..." he said, and began weaving his way though the crowed until he reached Arielle and Dimitri. "yeah?" he asked, grateful to see that Dimitri had been behaving himself. "listen," Dimitri said, turning slightly to face Kedrick. "I feel really bad about missing dinner with you guys, so kedrick, would it kill you if I came over for dinner at your place tomorrow night?" he asked, a sheepish smile on his face. Kedrick cocked his head to the side. "yeah, sure." he said, glad it wasn't anything kind of announcement like 'oh by the way, Arielle and I are in love an going to elope.' He quickly turned to Arielle. "you don't mind cooking for three do you?" Dimitri asked.

Maria only watched Kedrick and listened to his response, grinning somewhat. She only waved a small wave as she watched Kedrick walking over to Dimitri and Arielle. She still had to plot everything to her plan.
Arielle was happy to see Kedrick walk up to them. She was actually wondering if she was going to get to dance with him again. Yet in actuality, he was apologizing for not being able to make it to dinner. She could only give a small smile, thinking it was no big deal for him to apologize to. When he asked her about cooking, she only shook her head. "It's no problem for me at all."

Dimitri grinned at her. "that's great!" he said enthusiastically, "so..I'll drop by...say...six?" he asked, addressing the question to Kedrick. Kedrick blinked slightly. "yeah, six works." he said, then turned, waving Maria over. "Hey Dimitri, there's someone I want you to meet." he said, looking back at him with an uncharacteristically sly smile. It was now Dimitri's turn to blink in surprise. "oh, who?" he asked somewhat distractedly.'sorry Kedrick, but if its a girl, I'm not interested.' he thought. 'if it's a friend of yours, I'll take some time to say hello...but anyone else, and I could care less...' he thought, his mind was, for once, only one one girl, Arielle. There was just something special about her, something distinctly different that made her worth every ounce of his attention.

Maria watched as Kedrick talked to Dimitri and Arielle, wondering what in the world was going on. When he waved her over, she walked over calmly, smiling at all three of them.
Arielle was confused at what Kedrick meant, wondering if another one of his friends. When she saw Maria come over, she smiled back at her friend. "Dimitri, this is my best friend, Maria. Maria, this is Kedrick's best friend, Dimitri."
"It's so nice to formally meet you," Maria said politely, "I see that you're dancing with my good amiga. Take care of her tonight or you'll pay for the consequences."
"Was that necessary?" Arielle asked with a small frown but couldn't help but giggle.
"Hey, I'm just looking out for you," Maria said with a shrug like it was no big deal.
