Not for the light freighter... it's actually a bit overstaffed. But eh, we'll see what all we get.

Here I thought our goal was to explore and research, not get shot full of more holes than swiss cheese each minute we get repaired.

Start an adventure, and your going to have more than enough guns pointed at your face. Thats how I see it, its basic common sense.

I'm not saying this will be a non-stop slug fest. I've said quite a few times that later in the roleplay, I intend us on needing a larger ship, and a larger crew.

Unless you want to end up taking on some unknown alien empire with 10 people, and being expected to win and survive.

But whatever, I'm getting tired of all the arguing

All I'm saying is we shouldn't be picking fights with an empire. Otherwise, we're going to be going at this alone, because we're not going to be continued funding after royally screwing up. Czerka may be a weapons company, but they want to SELL them, not USE them.

You want to take on an alien empire, I'm sure you can pick a different plot. One focused on fighting and war. Because all I'm seeing right now is this plot turning into the one you suggested with the Star Destroyer. Apparently the plot wants to become a full military operation, because we keep needing more and more guns to fight legions of enemies. If I'm wrong, correct me now, but last I checked, your task for me was to discover who's the hostiles in the Unknown region. I'm glad to report that it'll be the crew who's hostile, not the aliens.

I'm working on my profile now. EK'll have it in a few minutes.

Yikes. Fighting. Okay, here it comes.

I like the idea of using a Neb as a base and something smaller to go out on tangents, but I also think that creates more gunk to deal with. So I say save that for another time, maybe when we have this 'upgrade' but for now just run with the ship we have. Or if we seriously have that many people, just hit up a CR-90 with our current crew and call it a day, even if it is a little understaffed. And if it's a little big, it's okay, it gives us opportunities to bring back samples of s**t or hold prisoners or save stranded people or anything. we'll adapt and have fun regardless.

Fighting is going to get us nowhere, not everyone has to be totally happy, but let's try to keep this a kinda Mass Effect/Star Trekky exploration thang. When enemies come into the picture, we'll deal with it. We're role players, thats what we do. And some degree of secret enemy plots is cool, just don't dedicate it to that. Don't forget we've done that a million times and a nice exploration is a change of pace.

We really don't need that many NPCs, and definitely not 3 Merc NPCs, cause we have like 4 fight capable people onboard. If we do end up needing them, you never know who we could meet and pick up on our journey. We could always use a doctor or two and a mechanic wouldn't hurt, but don't forget I'm also a mechanic. 2 scientists (geologists?) would be a nice touch, but don't forget we have a biologist/botanist robo and blusi is gonna science it up too.

You have to keep in mind we are all experienced roleplayers. We don't need to be 100% prepared right off the bat, because we can adapt. And I think everyone needs to chill. EK is just trying to make this as fun as possible for everyone. But let's all find a middle ground and just kriffing roleplay already.

This happens every time an RP goes into development... so I've learned to just deal with it. As GM I can generate some pretty random exploration ops for you, but there will be a secret enemy backstory and threat. I intend that to work more like something out of indiana jones. Said enemy will try and recover ancient rakatan technologies in the unknown regions is a possible way to do it. Keep it small, fun, and simple.

Here's an idea for a plot involving a bit of everything:

We start small, not really armed so much since it's just an exploration bit.

There's competition on the exploration front.

We find something of odd value, which makes the competition get greedy, thinking we're close to something huge and they decide to throw morality out the window to ensure they beat us to the discovery, which includes hiring mercs, pirates, etc. to cause us grief.

That, along with other various issues, is what gets us to change to a more properly outfitted vessel.

So, doing that, we have a plot that would explain the every so often combat round and other tension, and eventually gives us a plot-based excuse to change to a better ship.

I'm not contesting that we are allowed to fight in self defense. What I am contesting is the fact we are fighting and I quote an "UNKNOWN ALIEN EMPIRE" by ourselves. There's a grand difference between a bunch of angry natives who have the crew all tied up (*coughendorcough*) and fighting off ship after ship and faceless npc after faceless npc.

And then we've got enough guns, and enough npcs, to where we can pull that off? This is a formula designed for escalation of arms. But if our ship is a castle, unable to be breached, then there's no sense of vulnerability, there's no sense of terror or fear. It's easy when you have all the cards in your hand to ignore the threat. Considering we have 2 jedi on board as well, we're already going to be overpowered against anything shy of a frigate bearing down on us.

Methinks Des is just ignoring the vong part of his bio =P

Anyway, I trust Stellar (I think?), and DA and Nelo both make some good points. So, here's what we'll do.

We'll start out with a heavy freighter, like the YZ-775. It can hold all of us, with room to spare. No NPCs. It has 400 mt of cargo, so we should be able to shove some bikes, a probe or two, and a small landspeeder in there. Probably this.

Later on, when we actually need the bigger ship, then we'll pull out something like the Akula or a CR90.

Good enough?
