Kageko strolled leisurely down the length of the beach, her pants rolled up and her shoes in her hands. With most of the people enjoying the festivities in the town, it was fairly empty and perfect for the girl's current mood. Her eyes closed, the girl didn't really think of anything other than the feel of the sand through her toes and the waves on her legs and didn't really concentrate on anything other than putting one foot in front of the other.

"The true Demons aren't them,"  Hiruzen, still dressed in his oddly somber black yukata, was sitting in the sand, just out of reach of the lapping waves, arms wrapped around his legs and a the usual morose expression in his eyes. It had been just as he thought, loud and unforgiving, even at a time of celebration. He wasn't unused to this, though, far from it.
Just as his thoughts were taking a slight plunge, he heard the soft padding of feet on sand not to far behind and to the left of him. Without moving he activated his eyes, and stared at the person. It was a girl his age, just walking alone on the beach. But... She was familiar, so he dropped the doufutsu and simply went back to his dispassionate staring out across the water, barely registerring the gentle tugg of the waves on his bare toes. "No... He's right in front of you."

Looking up, Kageko noticed a boy that seemed vaguely familiar. she thought to herself as she stopped walking, Instinctively, at the sight of the boy, her face had changed from a thoughtful one to one of naïve curiosity. she tried to remember, .
"Hinata!" she greeted cheerfully, guessing at the older boy's name as she ran towards him, "Wait, that is your name, right? Oh well, do you remember me?".
Kageko honestly had no idea why she was acting so cheerfully. Maybe it was because she had been thinking depressing thoughts for long enough.

"The true Demons aren't them," The word, or rather, the name the girl had called out seemed to ecoe far longer than it should have. He could distinctly remember a few other select people mistaking as a girl before. Okay, so he may not look that manly right now, but seriously?! Several seconds later, Hiruzen stood up and turned around, his eyetwitching madly. "Hey! I'm not a girl! It's Hiruzen! Hi! Ru! Zen! Remember it- eh?" He stared at the girl for a bit, the odd familiarity causing the gears in his head to start cranking, before a name popped back into the forefront of his mind. "Hey, it's you, Geko-chan! Don't tell me you forgot me already?" He face dropped into a pout, but that also soon left as he looked away, a small frown on his lips. "Then again, it's not like I'm that difficult to forget, or anything... I'm just a gaki, after all..." With that, he plopped back onto the sand, refusing to look at Kageko. "No... He's right in front of you."

(OOC: Err…. What's a "gaki"? Sorry sweatdrop .) As the boy screamed at her, Kageko hid partially behind a conveniently placed boulder, only revealing her face after his rant was over, and even then pulling up her mask to cover half of her face. Kageko thought as Hiruzen showed that he had apparently forgotten her name as well, "S-sory Hiruzen-kun," Kageko responded, still partially hidden by the conveniently placed boulder, "And… ermm…. My name's not Geko…."

"The true Demons aren't them," He glanced at her when she said his name, and noticed, with a tinge of guilt, that she seemed a bit frightened of him. His eyes saddened a bit, and he leaned back, berating himself at getting worked up over such a small thing. "Sumimasen, I didn't mean to scare you. Sorry." He flashed her his rare, small semi-grin, before he looked out at the calm waters again, letting his voice drift over to her with the slight breeze. "And Geko's shorter than Kageko, isn't it? I dislike names that are longer than two syllables," He muttered, scratching a spot behind his ear nonchallantly. "No... He's right in front of you." ((It basically means brat. And Sumimasen is a formal way of saying sorry. ))

Loosening up a bit at the smile, Kageko replied with her own smile, "Heh, yeah I guess it is. Also, I should be the one to be sorry. It was my fault for not remembering your name," she scratched her head with embarrassment, "Umm…. Mind if I just call you Hiru-kun?". She carefully approached the spot that the boy was sitting at and sat cross-legged on the ground beside him, her mask still up. "By the way," she added on to what she was saying before, "I've noticed that you've been Otogakure for a while. How do you like it so far?". So far, Kageko had no idea whatsoever about Hiruzen or his past before he had come to Oto. Actually, she had little idea about what he was like even now.

"The true Demons aren't them," Hiruzen paused for a moment, and tried out the-his, actually- new name. "Hiru, eh? I... Like it." He said, his small smile growing a bit, but it dropped just as much when she asked him his opinion on the Village, his new home. He tried to recall how he did actually feel about the place, but he had only been there a few weeks, or at least it seemed that way to him. He didn't even have a place to stay of his own, yet! But...
"It's... Nice. The village is often noisy, and the people can be obnoxious, but nobody hates me here, nobody says cruel things, or treats me bad for something I can't remember doing..." That's right, Hiruzen thought, giving a sidelong glance to the girl seated beside him. Everybody hated me. Will everyone here hate me, too? Will she hate me...? This time, he actually turned his head to look at Kageko, and after observing her for a several seconds, he sighed, shaking his head, that sad smile on his lips. She doesn't seem like the type to hate for no reason. That's good.
He once again turned his face out towards the sea, his violet eyes sparkling in a light of their own. "If this is what it's gonna be like here... Then I like Otogakure." "No... He's right in front of you." ((It's oddly fun writing such an angsty kid, even though I still try to reign myself in as much as is beliebly possible! X] ))

"Eheh," Kageko laughed a bit as she responded, "That's good." She then thought for a bit about what Hiruzen had actually said. "By the way," she asked, more curious than hesitant, "what do you mean about people saying cruel things to you and stuff for no reason? I mean, no one's that mean, right? Maybe they just seemed like it?".

"The true Demons aren't them," His smile abruptly dropped, as did his head. "Yeah, I wonder..." He watched the last bits of sun dripping beyond the horizon, before standing up, shaking the sand from his robes. He gave Kageko an expression that could pass as a smile and held a hand out to her. "It's getting late. Maybe we should get back to the village?" "No... He's right in front of you." ((Maybe 'cause he doesn't like the truth he's hearing? Oh, good, and a taijutsu style for Vince?! gonk .. I'm almost glad you aren't my sensei, Ultima. ninja Not sure if either of us could handle all the torture we be giving each other! rofl On that note... Hey! I'm in this guild now, too! ))

Kageko nodded as she responded, "Yeah, sure," and picked her own self up. Years of pranking between her and Vincente had taught her to be wary. Brushing the sand off of her pants, the girl asked, "You want to stop by the curry shop? My treat?".
