So she's okay, right? Sleeping because it's warm?
Panata fretted slighty at the newly hatched dragon when she stopped moving, though as a girl crossed to get her he knew things were okay and he needn't worry so pointlessly.
All that was left was the egg with the swirl, still sitting on the sands, as well as the Bronze and Gold. They seemed so patient and surely would impress at the same time, would they not? Hopefully to good people, since they were such kind and fair dragons.
The young boy smiled and closed his eyes now, just waiting for things to be over.
- ---
Reita, huh? The super tanned girl with the loud and friendly voice had impressed? Good for her, she wasn't one that he minded, and Leicha figured that such a pretty green must have plans for the person he'd considered tomboyish. The plan was maybe to teach her not to be so loud, to become more ladylike?
That'd be interesting.

R'ysan looked up and over...Hey, that guy was the one he had given the thumbs up to early. He got a the very depressed brown. Well good for him. Seemed like he'd have a lot of hard work on his hands with that one. Especially, if that personality didn't adjust just a little as time went on.
Regedth perked up when R'ysan noticed the brown and nosed his hand to the table. R'ysan looked over at the pile of meat and picked up a piece and glanced at Regedth. She started waddling over the direction of the brown. R'ysan followed as she stopped beside Darcth. Hi brother, I'm glad you're here. I had my rider bring you meat because you've had a long day already.
R'ysan tilted his head to the side, "Guess Regedth thinks you're needed some special attention. But I'm thinking you should feed him his first bite. Oh..and I'm R'ysan we've not had any really time to meet and all but yeah...here." He held out the meat morsel to Mishal, now M'hal to take.

Sellae gave a relieved smile, her eyes moving to the last egg remaining unhatched. She crossed her fingers, closing her eyes. Come on, silly. Come on. It's your turn, unless you're supposed to be a surprise.

Kestra relaxed, rocking back on her heels once. One egg left, and the bronze and gold were un-Impressable for her. One slim chance that the scared dragonet in the egg with the bright swirl on it's shell was hers, and so slim she relaxed as you would if you had a front row seat. Which she did. It'd been a wild ride full of ups and downs so far, and now her first ever hatching attended as a candidate was drawing to a close she could safely say it was better than watching from the sands!
Though knowing this clutch, something was bound to happen to surprise her one last time. She'd have betted on it.

The bronze had returned to his favorite spot by the clutch. --Well, where it had once been. Now there was but one egg, which lay motionless on the sands. His interest was not held by his clutchmate, which the Weyrwoman began to dread was a dud, but by the queen.
The gold had, from the way she held her head up and walked forward toward him, decided who it was destined to belong to her. Such a showy thing, the whole Weyr was going to hear the announcement.
She stopped beside the bronze and called cheerfully to everyone. Many dragons, including Dorath, called back. Be she a brat, a gold who just knew her place or something else, the Weyr needed this dragonet for the safety of Pern. Nothing could take away that joy.

As the gold called to everyone as if holding a court Nadia strightened her posture and, ignoring the buring pain in her knees, she watched the gold with a rapidly beating heart. 'Was it finally time for her to impress?' she thought glancing around her at the other female candidates wondering who would be chosen for the wonder duty of being rider to the queen.

Amoreth straightened her spine as she returned to the bronze, head held high. Demeanor as imperial as her color! Her cheerful call was met with many hopeful shiftings amongst the female Candidates, along with the return calls of the other Dragons. All eyes were, once again, on the golden Queen Dragonet, pride of the clutch.
The young woman found herself focused intently on the gold, amused and still surprisingly slightly relaxed, eager as the rest of the Weyr was to hear her decision. Amoreth thought to herself, "You're quite the lovely little thing, and you seem to bask in the attention you're getting.. Heh, you'll give some new life to the Weyr with your refreshing sense of purpose and station." Amoreth expected she would at that. The gold, the one born to end Dorath's curse, had chosen and would announce for all of them to hear who the rider of the newest Queen was to be.

You must keep an eye out, Mine, Nachith commanded as B'ram fed him, hopefully a safe distance away from the table and that scary stalker of a green. For Lofrewth and for Deprith.
It'd help if I knew what they looked like, Nachith.
A pause. His had a very good point. They are green, and Lofrewth is lovely.
...that's not real helpful, either. B'ram sighed, but rubbed his dragon's head fondly. But if I see a green, I'll let you know. Just as he was about to point one out, however, the little queen gave her call, and Nachith lifted his head and called back. It triggered another sigh from His. Way to be inconspicuous, Nach.
...Oops.

Sellae smiled at the gold, straightening her back to give the young dragonet the attention she deserved. We're all waiting, young one. she thought. You're the center of attention.

Finally, the gold was deciding to impress! Panata looked over at the fine Queen with expectation and wonder, proud to know that he was witnessing a moment that would perhaps help mold the history of the Weyr. His thoughts were pulled away from the motionless egg, his heart pounding with excitement.
He may not be a girl and able to impress, but what was to stop him from feeling the same feelings as the others? Nothing at all!

Arolon looked up at the call. The queen had made her choice and would announce it to everyone. He couldn't bow to her right now, if he did he felt he wouldn't be able to get back up without help. The pain in his arm was throbbing and he couldn't move it. The egg wasn't shaking, at all, no signs of hatching. "Please hatch!" He whispered under his breathe. That was the last egg, this egg and the bronze were his last hope of impressing from this clutch. His hope was patiently still there, against all odds.

The hand settled on him stayed to steady the brown all the way to the tables, M’hal offering encouragements and assurances to him. Slowly but surely he was raising the spirits of his partner, though the brown paused when he saw the other dragons and the other new riders. M’hal had to get a little stern with Darcth, but smiled as the brown actually tossed his head and started forward.
Unfortunately he started to shrink into himself again even as Regedth sweetly came to meet them. The larger dragon hummed hesitantly before replying. Hello Regedth…thankyou. It’s been a long day for everyone. It will be good to have Sharath and the others safe and impressed with us.
“Hello again! I’m M’hal and this is Darcth. Thanks for this.” He took the meat with one hand and offered the other in greeting, smoothly and with a smile. He left it unspoken that Darcth clearly did need that special attention. M’hal was determined to bolster him up until Darcth could shine, as M’hal knew he could if he gave him the chance.

Kestra smiled, glancing about at the other girls. Not long now...the little queen seemed to be making up her mind at last and giving quite a show while doing it too.

When she was content with the attention she had gathered, Sharath fluttered her wings and spoke to the dragons of the Weyr:
Dragons of High Reaches! The future Weyrwoman has been decided! Everyone waited with baited breath for the queen to face the girls, but she didn't. Instead, she looked to the stands, holding her head higher than ever. This was a proud moment, and now, she spoke only to Hers.
Amelia! Queen Sharath waits for you!

When the Queen turned to the stands, her brow furrowed. Another stands impression, eh? Well, that was a first! Two in a single hatching. Amoreth couldn't help but smile, imagining the feeling that the girl was bound to have at this moment. Oh, such joy to suffuse their entire body at the sound of the Queen's voice in their head!
The Candidate looked at the Dragonet with something akin to pride. She'd had plenty of time to choose wisely, and no doubt, the girl in the stands would be overjoyed. Amoreth's eyes fell on the last egg, her bottom lip catching between her teeth. Fourteen hatched Dragonets, one yet to impress, still made for a fine clutch.. but fifteen was needed to complete it. She squinted to catch any hint of movement from the egg.

Redfith was so happy that the brown found His, she was worried that perhaps he would not With her stomach full the emerald colored green leaned warmly against Zia's side. Hatching was quite the tiring and there did not seem to be anyone that needed her right that moment. The green closed her eyes sleepily and opened them again.
Talking to Darcth, You seemed very sad, can I help you with something. I am Redfith, I am happy to help any of my clutchmates.
Zia patted Redfith's side and for the moment refrained from asking any of the other weyrlings if they needed help, she thought perhaps it would come across rude, like they weren't competent enough to feed their own dragons.
"Oh, I am so happy to have you," Zia murmured, "I love you so." Silly sentiments that she was sure most of the other newly Impressed were feeling.
"Why is that blue hiding?"
He's running from the green, I do not know why though. Would you like me to ask?
No, there's no need, I don't want to pry in someone's business, dear one.
She's chosen, Redfith's voice sounded so happy to Zia her heart melted, her dragon was so thoughtful and caring! They would have turns to get to know one another, but this seemed apparent right away.
