The last few workdays have certainly been interesting. Lots of shipping accidents, apparently - I watched the recorded cam footage on Friday... glad nobody got hurt! eek

On Friday, while on my break, I took a quick stroll around some of the departments near Manufacturing; I got a brief glimpse of the "Super Drencher 5000" and the Coki Kitty Utility Belts... good stuff! It looks like we'll have tons of new fun things for the kids this year! 3nodding

While passing by Sublevel F, I heard strange scratching and scuffling noises from behind the door. I couldn't appease my curiosity, since I don't have clearance that deep in... but that's when I turned to the recorded camera feed. Little white poofballs with arms and legs and bright little eyes?? Are they some new type of robotic pet toy? I wonder... eek Based on the inventory lists, there have been a ton of new shipments coming in lately...

I also found more chocolate boxes... one sitting right next to where I put my lunch in the pantry fridge, and another underneath the huge Christmas tree in the factory first floor lobby. Two places I frequent often... eek

I haven't felt this rested in a long time! It's time to go chill out on my Saturday night. ~~~~~

Couldn't sleep again. Perhaps it's time for another journal.

Everyone is working so hard this year, yet the future is still uncertain. Mrs. Clause had been wandering in and out of the R&D center quite often. I have no idea what is going on in there, but it seems like there is something big happening.

I'm hungry but all I could find were vegie fruit roll-ups... looks like I'll be sleeping with an empty stomache.

Oh my goodness, I am so behind with my journal. I forgot about the silly thing all week! So much to do, and strange things keep happening it seems. Some of the other Elftechs have been talking quietly a lot lately, but I haven't heard much. I haven't really seen anything myself ...

For me, things are business as usual. Every day, get up, work, relax, go to sleep to start fresh again the next day. Having a solid routine is priceless. With Christmas coming soon, the pressure for completion is rising.

Still ... I can't believe what happened with SC, Jack attacking him of all people! It's a good thing Mrs Claus is around, she has been so positive through the whole thing.

Hopefully I won't forget about this journal again this week!

On Friday morning, Elftech247 told me I needed to work on Saturday and Sunday.
"Since you have been doing such a great job on the moonshoes, maybe you could give Elftech003 a hand with all the CoKi Kitty utility belts. She seems to have fallen behind .... "

"But it is the weekend!" I complained.

"Since when do elves mind working on the weekend? We love making toys!"

At work, I told Elftech003, "It seems 247 has been impressed by all the moonshoes you made and wants you to take on the CoKi Kitty utility belts as well. I will be practicing some new tricks at my workbench, if you need me ..."

Yesterday, I went to work, but I was not in a holly jolly mood. Elftech003 seemed more than happy to make the CoKi Kitty items, so who am I to deprive her? I decided to work on a new song as well for my act. I might even make a music recording or two.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Coming home from our house Christmas Eve.
You may say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

When I looked over at Elftech003 to see if she was enjoying my singing, she had a pair of oversized earmuffs on. Well, she'll just have to hear my performance in a few days, I guess.

Meanwhile, I have received many complaints about my new stage name. They seem to think The Amusing Elf makes me sound like a sideshow joke and not very impressive at all. I am thinking about several new ideas for a stage name, but I don't have much time before the show .... Some of the top ideas are: The Astounding Elf, The Great Elfini, or my personal favorite, The Magical Elf. Still trying to decide.

bearing no resemblance at all to
THE AMAZING ELF
!

Current Mood: Mellow annoyed?
Current Music: "The Fidelity" by Mason Jazz

Edit: How frustrating! It seems S Corp has put in place some encryption tools for things they deem "sensitive". Now to go back and read what I wrote, I have to remove all those line breaks before I can decode it, and THEN I have to decode it. All this work just to remember what I did yesterday. This is most certainly going to hurt my productivity.

I can't believe we've had so many problems in shipping lately. I'm not sure why either. Everything has been at or below the weight limit- and the security camera is doing a bit too good of a job in picking up everything. Because of this, I put in a request to have all cameras in R&D shut down. Questions are certainly never a good thing, and I do believe we should be minimizing such questions.

The utility belt production turnaround was amazing! Under pressure, 003 churned out far more than we need for this season. Elves just don't have that sort of turnaround naturally. I've asked her to take a small break from production to explore other toys she might like to make. If you work too much, too long, and too hard, you will burn yourself out. We can't have anyone crumbling from stress, not at this time of the year. Speaking of burnout, it was a curious note that I didn't see a single belt logged to 722. Moonshoe production also seems to have stopped. This is certainly most curious, and I think I'll need to have a word or two with him to make sure everything is okay.

Most people should be returning from their recon assignments over the next day or more. If all goes well, we will have our Naughty/Nice list finished.

I've reassigned 957 as well. Inspecting ping pong balls for defects is one of the most important jobs anyone here at the facility could have- I'm certain he'll understand the magnitude of his assignment.

(The Yeti testing has been going well. They are very responsive to weapon equipping. 137 has attested to their marksmanship. They will most certainly rival Jack's forces should he try and pull anything.

Finally, the G-Virus seems to have taken on some interesting properties. When chilled, as happens to all things in the artic, it seems to form a biomechanical bond. This is an interesting symbiotic relationship- the mechanics are powered by natural cellular energy, while the organic material seems to gain the added function of the mechanics. I am certain furthering this research will prove vital to our success in bringing Santa back to life.

Mrs. Claus has been very anxious as well. She wants this done and Santa alive. I keep telling her these things take time. Usually it results in her screaming at me for various reasons. We're going as fast as we can. Weapons attachment and upgrades have been succeessful, and the biological properties from yeti testing might be the breakthrough we need. I haven't slept much lately, but at least it will all be over soon.)

a master does not teach the truth .. truth cannot be taught .. it is a thing beyond any ability to place into words .. only an energy that provokes an energy in you.

i wanted to share a small memory from some years ago:

i had been trying to figure out, for some time, the relationship between Mr. Claus and the other keepers of the december holiday ..

Mr Claus was deep into the second check when i asked him about Sinterklaas, and Father Christmas, Julenissen, and Sing dan lo ian .. he peered at me over the top of the list .. it was as if a twinkle in his eye somehow became an ear to ear grin on both of our faces .. his grin in that instant was rolling laughter thrumming through the room .. shaking the ground beneath us .. ... .. his laughter still echoing down distant corridors, he said to me in a gentle voice, 'I am known by many names.'

(thank you to the friend that reminded me of this memory)

The Super Drencher 5000.

It was originally designed as a multichamber automatic water gun, but with a few modifications it should prove useful for R&D's top secret project. The claw from last week fit perfecty with only minor modifications needed. We are still waiting for the test results from the latest specimins, Dinanthropoides Nivalis. Hopefully they will provide the missing link we have been pushing for in our research of that mysterious substance...

But for now.. I'll be cosigning Elftech247's request to remove the security cameras.
Its not good when too many people start asking too many questions.

Elftech 138 is so strange. I see her space out sometimes, staring in my direction but then upon looking around more I saw there was one of those baby yeti's right beside me, so I can't tell if she is looking at me or the yeti. Then the yeti climbed up my leg and got into my lap... I have to admit that they are pretty cute. So she is staring at us, and then after thinking about it a second, maybe I am the weird one sitting here with a yeti in my lap when there are many other important matters to attend to!

*throws the yeti to Elftech138*

i have received a great number of warnings in the past week.

Quote:

... 013 'disappeared'

Quote:
I wouldn't be so trusting if I were you

Quote:
THIS HAS HAPPEND BEFORE THEY WILL *gulp* KILL YOU!

Quote:Don't let S Corp cloud your thinking ... there is way too much chaos and confusion.

Quote:
protect yourself ...

Quote:
... reassure me that the problems are all under control

Quote:
I'm worried about you. Something seems wrong about S-Corp this year. I've heard horrible rumors.

Quote:
... be careful, alright

to answer the concerns of these and others who have expressed their worry i have included a short fable a teacher of mine once told me a long time ago:

see next ...

... continued (11-20-05 9:35pm)

in the countryside of japan there was a small village nestled under the shadow of a small mountain .. the mountain, while neither beautiful nor impressive, befitted the village in its humble presence .. on the outskirts of the village stood a small farm in which lived an old man.

the old man tended to his farm, and kept mostly separate from the village and its villagers while the village and its villagers mostly left the old man alone.

it came to pass that a terrible storm swept the countryside .. its drenching rain and powerful wind bent the bamboo and shook the walls of the meager houses of the village.

in the aftermath of the storm the villagers saw that the fence surrounding the old man's field had been destroyed in many places and his horse had run away .. feeling sorry for the old man they came to him saying, 'we are so sorry that this horrible thing has happened to you; you are a good man and do not deserve this misfortune.'

the old man laughed.

'misfortune? i only know that my fence is damaged and my horse is no longer in my field. we can not know what this means, only that this is. we will see.'

so when, several days later, by the time the morning sun had risen .. the old man's horse had returned bringing with it eight magnificent wild horses .. the villagers were astounded.

'we apologize, we did not know the future, you were right. you are very wise to have known this would happen. please forgive us for doubting. you are most certainly deserving of this good fortune.'

'good fortune?'

again the old man laughed.

'i can only say that my horse has come back to me bringing with it eight wild horses; i do not know what this will mean tomorrow. we will see.'

it was only later that week the old man's son was thrown while trying to break in one of the wild horses .. both of his legs were broken and the village doctor said that the old man's son would most likely be crippled for life.

'you were right all along, this whole thing has proved itself to be a curse. now your son is crippled and will never be able to ride a horse again. we are so sorry.'

but the old man simply laughed.

'a curse you say? i say only that my son was thrown from a horse and has broken his legs. no one knows how this will shape the future. we will see.'

only days later a war broke out far to the north .. the emperor decreed that all able bodied young men were to be sent off to fight in the war .. many of the villagers sons were killed.

see next ...

... continued (11-20-05 9:35pm)

we can never know what today's events will become tomorrow .. i am certain as the future unfolds things will get much better .. i am also sure that things will become much worse .. like the waves on the ocean constantly rising and constantly falling .. this too will pass .. this too will become something else .. the only thing i can be certain tomorrow will bring is change.

Elftech 123 told me that on Friday a shipment of baby yetis showed up on the loading dock. What in Santa's name is going on up there? Those things are cute as hell,...as long as they're in cages. I've seen what those things are like on the loose...all teeth and claws. If even one of them gets out, it's going to be a lot like a Hollywood horror flick up there...I do hope they're careful.

I've just about finished surveying Durem. Amazingly enough, I haven't even reached fifty pages on my list yet, and I write pretty small.

I saw some Halloween candy wrappers blowing in the gutter today. I have to say, it was more than just the wind that gave me a cold chill, seeing that.

So much for routine. Today, alarms sounded. Something big happened. As per usual, I was not where it happened, but it was close. Other Elftechs ran past, said a few got hurt bad. But then, business as usual again, as if nothing happened. Interesting times.

Everything was productive, other than that bit of excitement. I wonder what really happened. If Mrs Claus is saying we should get back to work, it couldn't have been too bad .... could it?

Merry Christmas!

WOW, new week at the facilities! Since Neo-Pizza was such success last week, I shall try again.

Today, we will have various pizzas from Neo-Pizza! I hope everyone likes it.

Mrs. Claus called me into her office this morning. I knew the jig was up.
"I have over 150 hours of security camera footage recording your antics here at work," Mrs Claus said. "I was unable to find even ONE HOUR when you were actually doing work of any kind! You play cards, you sing ( off key, I might add ) and spend all of your time chatting it up with friends and playing blackjack with the reindeer!"

Mrs. Claus was more than a little upset. She seemed furious. I tried to mount a defense ... "Well, you see--"

"Silence! If you think you can get away with this, think again! I am ashamed of you!" Mrs. Claus scolded. "Now, here is a scrub-brush. I want you to scrub the floors of all the facilities on your hands an knees. Do an extra good job! I want that floor to be spotless. I am giving all of the credit for the moonshoes and the CoKi Kitty utility belt to Elftech003. If elves could be on the 'naughty-list' you would be at the very top!"

So here I am today, scrubbing the floors. I try to practice my songs, but all that comes out is:

"She sees you when you're sleeping,
She knows when you're awake,
She knows if you've been bad or good,
so be good for goodness sake!"

Santa may see everything, but he's nothing compared to Mrs. Claus. She misses nothing, that eagle-eyed hawk. I know hawks do not have eagle-eyes. They have hawk-eyes. But it doesn't sound as good saying 'eagle-eyed eagle' or 'hawk-eyed hawk'. Cut me some slack.

If I didn't have my upcoming magic show, I would be really depressed, but all I can think about is my tiny elf costume lit up in all its glory beneath the glorious stage lights. The Amusing Elf will rise again!

P.S. I decided to stick with the stage name: The Amusing Elf. I don't care what people say. My work speaks for itself.
now known as
THE AMUSING ELF!

... this is the only distinction between the dream and the real: reality allows you to doubt, and the dream does not allow you to doubt....

i have reason to believe my incoming messages are being tampered with .. the number of concerned gaians i have received warnings from has been rising almost everyday .. today i received none .. many of the messages i have received look like they have been censored in one way or another .. all of them show signs of having been scanned or read.

to test this theory .. i sent myself a pm with a 'sniffer' embedded in it .. sure enough .. not only did the message take almost 10 minutes to make its 'round trip' .. the log shows that it was opened multiple times by computers in at least two distinct locations within the facility.

i will go on trusting .. uncorrupted .. the enlightened fool .. but i am not stupid .. 571 once taught me the amusement of a good late night stroll .. maybe it's time to see if i still remember the things he's taught me about the security grid.

... the search for personal knowing is very, very hazardous. Nobody can guarantee it. If you ask me if I can guarantee anything, I say I can not guarantee you anything. I can only guarantee danger, that much is certain. I can only guarantee you a long adventure with every possibility of going astray and never reaching the goal. But one thing is certain: the very search will help you grow. I can guarantee only growth. Danger will be there, sacrifice will be there; you will be moving every day into the unknown, into the uncharted, and there will be no map to follow, no guide to follow. Yes there are millions of dangers and you can go astray and you can get lost, but that is the only way one grows ... To accept the challenge of the unknown is the only way to grow.
