Um....I moved over 300 boxes today. I'm covered in bruises and cuts. It was almost 100 degrees outside. Leave it to my parents to pick the hottest day of the year so far to be moving boxes. I literally spent 6 hours (not continuously) inside of a U-haul pulling boxes full of s**t down from piles that reached two feet above my head.

I never thought I would hate books until today. Every time I saw a box labeled "Books" I wanted to destroy it. Books are heavy, and my family has over 30 boxes of them. gonk

Poor Roki! I won't be on much Tuesday. I"m going out of town with my boyfriend for the day and I am hoping that I can get rid of about 8 books. I plan to sell them at Hastings and get some money for them instead of leaving them to collect dust on my bookshelves or in boxes cause I'll never read them again. I can buy better books that I know I'll reread. Maybe I'll get lucky and stumble across a hardback copy of one of the Tortall books besides Bloodhound and buy it. I would like to eventually have all of the Tortall books in hardback simply because they would look good on my bookshelf. I have to buy one for Terrier because like I've said I carry that one with me everywhere and I really want a hardback copy to put on my bookshelf so I can have all of them one there at one time.

Alright, I just posted this in another guild (it's a chatterbox guild) and I'm really proud of it. I must share it. It's a rant about how much moving sucks. Of course, I'm glad I'm moving. But still....

Roki
Alright, so after 2 years on the market, someone finally bought our house. Of course, I'm thrilled. This house is so ******** huge that the thought of walking down stairs to go to dinner makes me exhausted enough to take a nap. I guess that's the kind of houses you get in a mansion neighborhood like this. (It literally is a mansion neighborhood. The founder of our town is Les Wexner, the owner of Limited Brands: Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Henri Bendel, C. O. Bigelow, The White Barn Candle Company, and La Senza.) So I've been spending the past two weeks wearing basically the same clothes because all my other clothes are at our new house, packing box after box after box after box. Of course, I'm now an expert box builder, but what is that going to do for me in life? Very, very little. I plan on living in NYC. Most of my major moving is likely to happen in taxi cabs or the subway, depending on how broke I am. I don't need to know how to pull muscles grabbing boxes that are just out of arms reach that weigh a good 40 lbs.

Today, my parents decided to get a U-haul so we could move all 350 of the boxes we've packed so far. (Yes, I know the number. It's acutally 356. My mom decided to come up with a numbering system to keep track of the boxes.) I spent all day since 8:00 am going back and forth loading and unloading a giant metal oven. Because, of course my parents decided to do this on the hottest day of the year so far. I'm estimating around 100degrees because when I checked the temperature it was around 90degrees and much cooler then it had been when we were working.

Now, the actual location isn't that bad. It's literally a 5 minute drive from my current house and I'm still going to the same school. But I'm about to experience something that I have never had before: neighbors who live nearby. Now I've lived in apartments and condos before, I consider that to be totally different than these fake-Georgian style suburbs where every house looks the same. But every house I've lived in since I moved to Ohio when I was six (look at my siggy, that's almost 11 years) has been in this mansion neighborhood and I've always had huge yards and neighbors with a decent amount of distance where you can be in your backyard and everyone won't see and hear what you're doing. In our new house, we're practically sharing a year with four other families.

That's all I really have to say now. I'm in pain from having boxes fall on me all day. (I was actually trapped under boxes several times today.) I need sleep. My parents aren't waking me up tomorrow so I may sleep for 12-14 hours. If, that is, my muscles don't cause me so much pain that I have to wake up.

And with that, I am falling asleep at my computer. Not even the Gorillaz can keep me awake after today. G'night all! (Yes, I am going to sleep surprisingly early. It's only 1:20. *le gasp*)

I know the horrors of moving boxes as well Roki. My mom got the crazy idea to tell us to pack up everything we wouldn't need until after Christmas and we've had to put things in two different storage ares and I'm still missing things! That was 5 almost 6 years ago! I'm missing my ancient recorded animes on VHS and some of my books. I know where all my barbie junk is but that's not what I want. When I say junk I mean it. I had almost 4 boxes of barbie stuff not to mention this gigantic Barbie Mansion made out of wood that takes two people to move and takes up more space than it's worth especially when I mainly used it as storage shed. I would toss junk in there and not find it for a while. I maybe actually played with the dolls in that house a week or two at the most. Otherwise I usually had my favorite barbie and sat in front of the t.v and played with her. Despite the fact that I had quite a few ken dolls I hated playing with them. So I had a lot of Barbie stuff but I used to have a bunch of great books and movies that I haven't found. I'm also still missing two pictures. One is a framed picture of my dog my Aunt made me and the other one was my favorite picture of my dad where he's riding a horse on a ranch somewhere I think. Those have been missing for forever since my mom redid my old room which I was like 8-9 when that happened possibly younger. Safe to say I don't know where half my things are. I know that all the books I have in the house can't be the ones I actually own. I could swear I have more than that. So we had to move thigns to one storage place then do it all again when we cleaned it out and then foudn out the place had termites and had to move to another storage building and it was around 100 degrees when we did it as well so I feel your pain Roki. Sorry for the longwinded rant.

eek I feel so sorry for you Roki! That sounds terrible. I always took moving guys for granted.
Wow. You only moved five minutes away and are going to the same school? What was the point of moving? Is it for a specific reason?
Your old home sounded better.
I live right next to families on this military base. Right now I'm listening to some guy with a weedwhacker.
I had my own room at our last installation. It was the closest we had to a nice home, and the base hired people to take care of the lawns for everyone. emo

Well you guys don't know my IRL, so I don't mind telling you the truth (my dad doesn't like me telling people why we're actually moving). We're moving because we hardly have enough money to buy groceries, let alone pay the mortgage on a $1.2mil house. (Yeah, we used to have that kind of money. crying ) Now my brother and I make more money babysitting every week and caddying at the Gold Club than my parents make in a month.

We're now moving into a rental house where my parents will stay until my brother goes to college in 3 years. I'm going to college in 2 years and my brother in 3. When that happens, my other brother and sister will be in 5th grade and 1st grade, so it won't be as hard for them to move to New York or somewhere. (That's where my dad wants to go.)

Something similar happened to my Bf's mom Roki. She had been renting a nice apartment or as nice as you can get in my town and the place was super expensive so she ended up moving in with her boyfriend while my BF moved back in with her dad to finish up school.

Yes and then with all the stuff that's happening in the Economy today a lot of stuff like that's happening and housing and other things keep fluctuating I think.
