"Are you like Grandmama then?" Ruque asked again. "She can change what she is ... is that what you can do, too?"
Aras looked around. This certainly wasn't the desert, that was for sure ... but ... how did she get around otherwise then? After all, the river didn't go to the portal ...

Feng shook her head, "Well not exactly, I can only gain legs and turn into a phoenix but nothing else beyond that."
Of course those were the only two forms she ever requested for.
"And maybe some day I can have legs too?" Naida was excited about one day walking.

Ruque's eyes grew bright with excitement, and he clapped his hands together. "Can you show us?" he asked eagerly. "Please?"
"Yes, show us!" Aras echoed, smiling as well for quite possibly the first time since their arrival in the Borderlands.
"If you don't, I'll come get you," Ecthelion grinned, bracing as if preparing to run after her - though of course in the water there was no way the boy would ever catch her.

"You'd have a hard time grabbing me," Feng stuck her tongue out at Ecthelion.
With a flop of her tail she made a splash and giggled. Of course Feng was quite large (length wise anyhow).
"The legs or the bird?" she inquired good naturally.

"I can try!" Ecthelion giggled, wading a bit deeper until his mother's voice warned him to stop.
"Legs!" Ruque cried eagerly.
"Bird!" Aras cried at the exact same time. She had already seen Feng with legs, she didn't care about that!

Feng nearly fell over laughing at the two, nor would that have that been hard for her to do. Swimming closer to the shore she giggled a bit.
"How about both? I think it would probably be better to be on land before being a bird, feathers and water do not do that well unless you're a water bird."
She set Naida down into the water again before allowing herself the legs that let her get around despite being a water creature. Standing up Feng was quite tall, for someone who looked deceivingly human.

"Ducks are water birds!" Ecthelion beamed as Feng transformed. "Can you be a duck?"
"Silly," Kanis frowned at Ecthelion. "She said a phoenix only. Not a duck."
Ruque stared up at Feng in awe. She was a lot bigger than she had been only a moment before.
"Wow," he breathed. "That's so ... cool!"
"Now a phoenix!" Aras giggled. "Come on, you said!"

Stepping onto the dry earth Feng had to giggle again. She nodded at this, since it was agreed.
"Alright then," Feng agreed.
The mer seemed to hunch over slightly as feathers seem to grow from her pores and her shape changed into one of a phoenix while not recongized in the Fourlands would be recognized in Gaia.
"Pretty birdie!" Naida clapped completely taking enjoy in this.

Aras, Kanis and Ruque were all equally impressed, ooing and ahhing and clapping and pointing, but Ecthelion only looked on with a confused expression on his face.
"That's not a phoenix!" he exclaimed. "I dunno what it is but it's not a phoenix!"
Rose giggled a bit. "They are from a different world, dear, their creatures might not be the same as ours," she told him gently.

Miyu nodded at this, "Even dragons can be different from here."
Remembering that Ryu could turn into one, though she wondered where he went to. Normally he was close by.
Feng seemed to coo at this, whether it was to agree or say something else it was hard to tell in that form. Realizing she couldn't actually talk in this form she turned back.

That comment caught the children's attention.
"Dragons?" Kanis whispered excitedly.
"Like our toys!" Aras beamed.
"I've never seen a dragon," Ruque mused thoughtfully, "not in real life anyways ..."

Feng giggled from where she was laying on the ground at the look on the children's faces. It wasn't like anyone in the family had seen a real dragon.. well no that wasn't true.
Mother owned a snow dragon, one of the many pets that lived at home, though she didn't know where Idhril's went to.
"Well if you can find Ryu maybe he'll change into one for you, but I think he's napping because it took a while to get Naida to bed last night."

"The only one what?" Miyu looked between Rose and Ecthelion confused.
She didn't know Ecthelion so well so she was quite confused.
"That's what I would like to know," Feng chuckled as she slid herself back into the water.

Ecthelion giggled and splashed in the water. "I don't like bedtime!" he grinned. "I like to stay up and play with Nana and Ada, and they tell me stories and Ada makes pictures to go along with them!"
"Pictures?" Ruque questioned curiously. "Does he draw?"
Ecthelion shook his head. "Nope, he makes pictures in the air with magic," he explained. "Nana can do it too, but Ada's better at it. Ninako's going to teach me soon, she promised that she would."
