Gabi sat in her potion class it seemed that a couple of people were going to be late the very first day. Most in the class stayed pretty quiet. Everyone knew that the teacher was pretty tough about policies .
With a small sigh Donovan got up from his seat. Looking at his body it was all green, then looking at Tom he said, "Welp, see you in next class." Taking a look at his friends who were all about to double with laughter.

Abigail rolled her eyes. Apparently Derek, whose name she now knew but was likely to forget again anyway, was very clumsy because Olivia, the Slytherin girl, thought he'd run into a wall. It seemed he'd done it before, too. Suddenly, Abigail realized she'd be late for potions class if she didn't hurry. She'd done her good deed for the day, and she didn't want any points taken from her house on the first day of classes simply because she was late for potions class, so she hurried on her way.
After fast-walking to potions class, Abigail quickly found her seat. She was excited about potions, but sat silently, knowing that if she made noise Professor Gondificant was likely to become angry. Abigail let her eyes wander around the room as she quietly waited for class to begin.

Standing up from his desk and raising his wand, he flicked his wrist and with a quick utterance of words, the door to the classroom slammed shut, shuddering in the process for a moment.
"It is the first day of the new year," Professor Gondificant spoke loudly to all of the students who were seated," There will be seven projects which we will be focusing on. Each one preparing you for your O.W.L.S and N.E.W.T.S."
Taking steps that echoed off the stone floors and walls, he continued his soliloquy.
"There will be no discussion of anything that does not pertain to this class," just as he turned his back as he began to patrol back in the other direction, he caught a glimpse of an enchanted paper animal gliding through the air, without missing a beat, his wand appeared once again and the paper pet burst into flames and disintegrated instantly.
"No inappropriate behavior. Notes are permitted, but if any messages are seen being passed between students, you will be cleaning the entire class' cauldrons for the next week. And finally, for those who have taken my class in the past, know that I do not tolerate tardiness. If you are late, you will not be let inside, you will lose points for your House, you will not receive any assistance for my class for the duration of the year."
He crinkled his face for a moment before giving a half-hearted smile.
"Well then, let's begin then shall we? Your first potion will be a simple restorative potion. This is known as Sanguine Infinitum. It is very common at many wizardly infirmaries, as well as our own here within the school."
Pouring simple water into the cauldron displayed in the center of the room, he masterfully began stirring the water as it slowly came to boil. He gathered the other ingredients with his free hand and continued his lecture.
"Your primary challenge with this task will be to complete the mixture without the water slowing down to a stand still. This becomes difficult while you must prepare the Warble root and crystal powder."
Without the use of his wand, the professor then picked up a knife and with an amazing display of skill, diced the roots and mixed in the powder in a matter of seconds, while still stirring with his left hand. The mixture turned a crimson red and after a few moments, he allowed the concoction to simmer before dipping in a vial, filling it and setting it onto his desk.
"Your assignment will be to produce six Sanguine Infinitum with the materials I have provided. If you run out, it will affect your grade. If you produce more than six and present them, it will not help your grade any more. I will take the best and only the best from your work. This assignment will be due promptly one month from today. I will answer any questions you may have, please schedule any meetings ahead of time."

Gabi couldn't help but be impressed but the teachers quick and precise movements. Was she impressed or truly in awe of potions master. Looking at her own cauldron she wondered how she could do it. Maybe she could practice first on other materials the stirring and cutting at the same time. She knew that some of the Hufflepuff would more and likely work together and she would be able to bounce some ideas off of them. But she didn't dare to say or write anything to her house mates.
((Do you want us to start working on it now?))

Gabi stood up and cautiously went up to the ingredients. Quickly she looked over the selection and picked up one of each and went back to her desk. She chewed her lip and looked over the problem. Wondering what the right speed she should go at she started at a slow pace then picked up the knife. In her head she knew she was stirring to slow, so she sped it up a little but instead of cutting right into the ingredients she practiced her movements of cutting and keeping the water turning.

{{Grrr. Not if I can do something about it.}}
Abigail wished the Sanguine Infinitum wasn't the first potion they were doing. Sure, ingredients-wise it was a simple potion, but it called for dexterity she just didn't think she had. She figured, though, that the potion was only due in a month so she had plenty of time to practice.
Abigail looked up and saw some of the other students practicing stirring and cutting at the same time. This seemed like a good place to start, so she got the ingredients she needed and placed them in an orderly fashion on her desk. Abigail first started practicing cutting with just one hand. It was hard, but she got the hang of it quickly. Then, she tried stirring and cutting at the same time. This was much harder. Every time her right hand stirred, she kept wanting to make a stirring motion with her left hand.

Gondificant moved from table to table, observing each student's practice. Sending one particularly inept student to the infirmary after slicing his hand open, he sighed deeply and looked to the class.
"Seeing that there are few of you with exceptional ambidextrous skill, I will allow the use of magic when it comes to multi tasking. I will warn however, that through experience, I know that the use of magic through manipulation does lower the quality of the final product slightly--"
He paused as fires lit in his eyes as a result of two students laughing behind him. Spinning quickly, his wand was out in an instant and with a quick utterance of words, their cauldron heated immediately, levitated upward and began bubbling over, threatening to spill its boiling contents on the disobedient pair. Though nothing came out, as his incantation kept them frightened but safe.
"As I was saying. Feel free to use levitation and stalling magic to perform more than one task at a time."

Donovan slumped into his next class. Being green from head to toe wasn't making his hope to be a more adult come to life. With a slight sigh he took his seat and watched and waited as student filled in the class. There was some snickers about his appearance but Donovan didn't acknowledge them. He hoped that by the end of class his body color would return.
Gabi didn't like the idea of using magic to help in potions class. She continued with ease keeping a steady stirring motion as she cut through some lesser materials. It wasn't perfect yet but she hoped with a little more practice she could start cutting through the real thing.

Professor Abbey hurried out of her office and into her classroom. She didn't want to be late for class, especially since she was the one teaching it. Even though it was still early in the day, a few strands of hair were beginning to fall out of her usually pristine bun. It was only her first day teaching, and it was kind of nerve-wracking. When she was a student the teachers had always made it look so easy.
Tania slowed to a walk and entered her classroom, which was already filling up with students. She stood at the front of the room and greeted her class with a smile. "Hello. I'm Professor Abbey, your Transfiguration teacher this year." She waved her wand at the chalkboard behind her and her name magically appeared there, as if written by her own hand. "This year we will be doing more advanced work, as you are in your sixth year of this class and so are supposedly capable of such advanced work. Some of you may have noticed the jars in front of your desks. That is because today we will be working on a water conjuring spell known as Aguamenti. You must twirl your wand in a clockwise motion once and then say Aquamenti. Like so." Professor Abbey then performed the spell, and a clear jet of water appeared from the end of her wand and went straight into the jar in front of her desk. It ceased after a few moments when she began to speak again.
"Today you will practice, and you have two weeks to perfect your spell and perform it in front of the class. You must also write a two page paper on the usefulness of this spell, which will also be due two weeks from now." Professor Abbey stopped talking and sat in her desk, amusing herself by watching her students attempting to cast this spell. Hopefully they should be able to direct the water into the jars and not onto her, but just in case she had erected a shield just in front of the jar in front of her desk so she wouldn't get soaked.
