(And I'm heading off to bed after this)

Ashe caught Mike as he fell limp. "Men...Always have to hide everything, Always have to act like the stronger sex." She lifted him up and walked him back to the cave and her room.
'Lukly we didn't get to far from here,' she thought as she placed the unconsience demon on her bed. She walked over to a stone shelf and lay down on it. She slipped into a light sleep, ready to wake up if she heard anything.

Mike's eyes flashed open. It was the middle of the night, and he was facing an unknown ceiling. Mike looked at his left hand again, still seeing the golden claw. Mike placed it on his face, the cool metal helping his pulsating head. He didn't know how long he sat there. As he moved his hand away and sighed, he caught a gleam from the doorway. He sat up and looked at the doorway. There stood a large man with a bigger sword. He knew right away who it was from the clothes he wore.

"Is that blade meant for me?" Mike said emotionlessly towards Adrock. Neither moved, but the look on his face told Mike that his had suspected correctly. There was a few moments of silence before Mike spoke again.

"I know I dont belong here and that you would sooner kill me that give me bread and bed," Mike turned his head towards the sleeping Ashe, "but your daughter has given me something I haven't known since my village burned hundreds of years ago." A small tear fell from Mike's eye. "She's given me friendship, something I don't deserve. For that, I'll protect her till my death."

Mike mood shifted when he heard Adrock snort in disgust. "After all, I'm just another demon. My death is a blessing, right?" The two glared back at eachother before Adrok walked by the opening to Ashe's room. Mike stayed the way he was sitting and closed his eyes. Ashe was the last thing in his mind as he fell into a dreamless sleep.

Ashe slept through Mike's and her Father's conversation. She heard the voices, but never registered that it was outside her dreams.

~Time skip to next morning~

Ashe woke up and looked over to Mike. He was still there. 'Good.' She got up and streached, a little stiff.

She walked around noiselessly her room, packing things that they might need for the upcoming fight.

Mike's eyes opened slowly and he scanned the room without moving. Ashe was packing while noises echoed into the room. Mike wasn't sure what was going on throughout the home he was in, but he didn't like the commotion he was picking up. His body started to burn in black flames, and as they engulfed him they burned off his demonic skin. As the flames tore off his demon form, his elven form took it's place, his wings burning into his cloak. As Mike finally moved to adjust his cloak around his neck, he spoke quietly.

"So how far away is his lair?" Mike's eyes were closed from being slightly more tired in his elven form. Or atleast that was what he told himself.

"Not far. Dark Dragon's can't fly far, so he must have made his home in the Lonely Mountain. It's just out of this range, in the middle of a desert. If not there, then at least that's where the portal sits."

Ashe finished packing and took her true form. "Get on. You still look tired."

((Dont skip the journey to the desert. Quality time between outcasts, eh?))

"That's alright, I'm fine." Mike stood up and brushed the stiffness out of his legs. Suddenly he realized the ground was getting closer to him, and quickly shot his leg and hands out to stop his face from smashing on the ground.

"On second thought, I'll take up that offer." Mike said as he placed his hand on Ashe for stability. He went to pull himself ontop of Ashe, but suddenly felt like the world turned upside down. He was exhausted in his elven form. He mustered up all his remaining strength and leapt ontop of Ashe's back, lying down to keep the world from spinning. Though the cavern made everything a little colder, Ashe's scales were still warm.

'I'll have to make it up to her.' Mike thought to himself. He was a demon and still probably a stranger to her. Mike knew what some of her life was like just from seeing how the king treated her and her father acted. He felt sorry for her, and for her kindness he'd have to find someway to help her belong.

((OK then))

Ashe waited as Mike settled himself, then made her way out of the maze of caverns and out into the open air. She flew silently, watching the mountains pass under her as said a silent goodbye to her home. Banking slightly to the south she headed towards the desert that bordered the mountains.

"It should take a day or two if we don't run into a sandstorm," she said to her passenger. About an hour later the mountains leveled out and the desert stretched out as far as the horizon. "We should be able to see the Lonely Mountain by the time we have to set up camp. It's a rather large place
."

As soon as they got away from the mountains Mike turned back into Nero Angelo. He would recover faster in that form, and he kept his wings tucked in tight so he wouldn't throw off Ashe's flying. He held onto her with his right hand, keeping his clawed left firmly tucked underneath him. He had to get the ache out of his body, so as soon as they were over the desert he leaned up and opened his wings, the wind ripping him right off of the dragon's back. He plummeted downard for a moment before swooping back up and flying alongside his companion.

"Ashe," he started to ask before pausing, "I know what your father said to you. Why did you put yourself at risk for me? I'm easily expendable."

Ashe looked at Mike through one eye as he flew beside her. "Isn't that what friends do?"

She looked ahead and snorted. "My father's still stuck in ages past. Though..." she paused, sorting her words carefully. "Though in the beginning I too, was ready to rip you apart. But...Your different from the others that I had met..." She dipped lower to catch a thermal and rode it for some time. She wanted to say more, but the right words wouldn't come.

Mike spun behind Ashe and caught her draft, pulling up above her before sweeping below. His wings felt good in the wind, and he was feeling much better than before. The air rushing past him was cool and crisp, perfect for an aching body.

"I wouldn't have blamed you if you had wanted to tear me limb from limb," Mike told Ashe, "and I also wouldn't have been around long either. I've been alive for hundreds of years, traveled with people that I thought were good only to awaken in the night with their sword through me. All those times I heard people call me 'friend' or 'companion' only to be followed by 'damned' or 'vile' when I let my guard down for them to kill me. I learned to trust no one, not even my own kinds."

Mike spun in the air and flew sideways to look at Ashe and smile, saying "But I know now that I can trust you my friend."

With that being said Mike spun again, going higher into the air to where there was little oxygen and cold freezing clouds. His bones would start to ache and crack soon, but he would heal more smoothly because of it.

Ashe watched Mike and snorted. She continued to ride the thermal and watched the desert slip past underneath.

A few hours later she spotted both the mountain and a small oasis town coming up. Calling up to Mike she said, "Night's get cold here, and the sun's setting. Do you feel that you can hold your mortal form or should we find shelter out in the sands?"
PostPosted: Mon Dec 21, 2009 8:28 pm

By the time Ashe called up to Mike he had been feeling much better. There was a small sheet of ice on his legs, which made them feel cold and good. Sometimes he was glad he was a demon. He could save the innocent from the vile, even though he was hunted like the rest. His demonslaying skills were just as great as when he was alive and mortal, but now he could take them down nearly effortlessly. He was one of the most powerful beings on the planet.

He flew down when Ashe called to him. "If you want to rest we can. Personally I want to end this as quickly as possible." Mike thought for a moment and realized that they should be well rested if they wanted to make sure Shiango would be killed. "Although we should go to battle well rested. It's your choice."

Ashe flew low to the ground and landed. She shifted into her human form and called up, "I have a feeling you've healed up well enough. But we should still rest up. And I agree with you, if we leave early and find a good thermal we could reach the mountain by late morning."

She pulled out a cloak and wrapped it around herself, covering it with sand to make it look like she's been walking the desert for a few days. She stood and waited for Mike to land.

Mike saw Ashe land and decided she was calling it quits for the night. As he turned he started to dive down towards the ground. He was still a long ways up when he turned upright and expanded his wings to land. He was still going down fast when he noticed his wings had a shiny glaze to them. He hadn't realized he had been partially coated with ice! As he shattered the ice off his wings he tucked himself into a ball. He couldn't slow his decent, but he could still pull off a solid landing. As he spun towards the ground he threw his legs and left arm out as he hit the sand. Landing perfectly but causing an explosion of sand that reached high into the air. As it fell back down Mike stood up and walked out of the raining sand.

"I never liked sand much," he said as he shooks his wings free of sand while walking towards Ashe, "it get's everywhere and is nearly impossible to get out." The sky was clear, and the desert was cool at night. Of all the places he had traveled he had never arrived in the desert.

Ashe rolled her eyes as Mike landed. "Your one for showy entrances and landings, arn't ya?" She created a small whirlwind to take the sand off him.

She pulled an extra cloak and handed it to him. "Here. If we landed it would have caused an uproar, but if we walk in as travelers it wouldn't cause much of a problem."
