Hermonie Urameshi Does anyone know of a good way to remember particles and verb endings when unable to speak with natives? I suggest writing simple sentences over and over with the particles to memorize.

Otherwise more complex things are utterly useless to know.

Hermonie Urameshi I learn them pretty quickly, it's just I don't know where to get some useful volcab. Watch cartoons, listen to music, look at a textbook, use a dictionary to randomly select words... Chances are, if you hear someone else speaking it in some sort of media, it'll be useful to you. There's endless resources for it all, a good majority of them free to use. Finding a list of 'most useful Japanese words' is only helpful for a very small percentage of your overall time, as conversations constantly change and use completely different (lesser used) words within the blink of an eye.

Japanese こんにちわ! 私は サマンサ です。 私の 日本語を ちょっと ちさい わかります。
Romanji Konnichiwa! Watashiwa Samansa desu. Watashi no Nihongo o chotto chisai wakarimasu.
Says
Hello! I am Samantha I understand very little Japanese
(I think that is what the last line is, I haven't done any Japanese in about a year so it's a bit rusty)
Offside note I'm looking for someone to email (or PM here) in purely Japanese. I want to get into the habit of speaking it again, but have no one to speak with. I don't care what the emails/PM's are about, they could be about what colour the tree is outside their house. Anything. So if anyone is interested, let me know.
Everyone I've had said they would so far end up writing all in English and I end up stopping because I'm not getting any practice at all

Does anyone know any games I can play by myself or with my family when I'm not online? Something other than shiritori?

I was wondering if anyone has any good tips for memorizing hiragana. I've just started doing this, and I've covered the ka line, sa line, and the a line. I have been memorizing them in order, but I wasn't sure if anyone had a better idea, or technique that would help me memorize them. Thanks!

Hermonie Urameshi I learn them pretty quickly, it's just I don't know where to get some useful volcab. Start writing about yourself, things you do a lot, etc. This will get you words (in English) that you need to use a lot. Or get a recorder and go talk with a friend (with the recorder hidden so it's still a real conversation), then later start trying to translate. Anytime you don't know a word, look it up and make a flashcard. Tada! I keep meaning to do something like this, but I never have time to. Grar! Except I'd do it with Spanish (because my vocab needs work, even though I am supposedly advanced) and Russian (because I simply have NO vocab razz )
