“Eight hours? Will you have to stay here with them during that time?” Ember asked from the doorway of the hut.

"No, I am going to run down to the Biscuit Baron, grab a bite to eat, maybe catch up on my lite read-YES I HAVE TO STAY HERE." He growled. "If I dont monitor the effect my drugs could have on them I cant compensate for possible side effects."

Ember winced at Roth’s retort. “Well since your going there mind picking me up something?” She prodded him. “And there’s no need to yell, I’m right here you know.” She folded her arms and looked at him sternly. “I was only asking a question.”

"You should have thought before you asked." He said as he injected something into the Felucians. "I am the only person who can do this. What kind of sense would it make if I left them to fend for themselves in the next eight hours?"

“I’m not a trained medic so how am I to know these things unless someone tells me.” She said, leaning against one wall.

"You don't need a degree in astrophysics and Sublight Drive Engineering to determine how to fly a spaceship, correct?" He said as he checked the pulse of one of the felucians he had just drugged. "You dont need to be a trained medic to understand a Doctor should not leave his patients if the treatment requires eight hours of observation. Especially when he's the only doctor in the jungle. I am NOT a trained medic, by the way. I took a course in battlefield medicine at the academy to fullfill course requirements and thats all."

"Don't you have my slave to be fawning over or something?" Roth asked her as he studied his patients. "I'm sure your time is better spent decieving her into thinking she did not need a rebuke for her behavior as opposed to staying in the disease ridden hut. Or are you afraid the evil human is going to consume the souls of these children when you arent looking?"

Looks like someone should put them out of their misery, thought Sish as he saw the sick Felucians. Then he heard the fighting as the Human and the Zeltron reappeared with the Zeltron apparently having been able to convince the Human to treat them. Getting annoyed by the bickering, Sish took a look into his binoculars and scanned the surroundings.
Thinking that nothing would get done, Sish spoke up. "Just let it go little girl. If we're going to save that friend of yours tomorrow, we're going to need a little rest for when the fun starts," said the Trandoshan. "Let's get some food and let him work."

Not wanting to anger Roth any further and now having the large armed lizard chiming in on his behalf Ember nodded her head. “Fine.” She said and turned to walk back to the campsite.

The next morning a tired looking Roth limped back to camp and sat himself down on an available seat, first cheking to make sure it wasnt some kind of fungus. "Well the children are on the mend." He said in a weary tone. "They didnt have malaria, dysentary, or typhus so I can't be sure what they have. Had I a medical scanner I mght have been able to determine their malady."

Sish glanced up briefly at the human's arrival and then returned to the cleaning and maintenance of his blaster pistol. The Trandoshan replied, "I guess that's a good thing if they're healing well. Still not sure how those two convinced you to help them in the first place though."

"It was not the Zeltron who convinced me." Roth stated as he drew a stimulant from his pack and injected it in himself. "My slave was being insolent. Something about valuing life and that rot. Rather than put up with the continual disobediance, I nipped the problem off at its source."

"I guess that's one way of dealing with a problem," Sish stated, not even looking up from his work. "Your slave likes talk back to you though. More than most of the the slaves I've seen."

"She was a gift from my academy mates. I found their sense of humor lacking. Nonetheless I have been stuck with her ever since."
