The first Baten Kaitos was really good. Its battle system proved that an RPG with a battle system based on cards (named Magnus in this game) could, in fact, work. Plus its music is AMAZING. Heck, you could just listen to its soundtrack for hours and not get annoyed by it at all.
Plus it had a decent storyline. The game's a bit like that biiiig hill you come to on a roller coaster--the plot sort of slowly plods along for awhile and then WHAM, it hits you with a huge plot twist that you just didn't see coming! Usually, it's blatantly obvious what the plot twist is or it's not that great, but Baten Kaitos takes the obligatory plot twist and bams it up several notches.
Some may find it difficult, but if you pick up the right cards and learn the battle system, you can kick the final boss's sorry behind with little difficulty.
EDIT: However, the awesome game is "Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean". Don't confuse this for "Baten Kaitos Origins", that game stinks in comparison.

This is not as epic as this. All your life are belong to Kefka, the only Final Fantasy villain to ever get what he wanted. Also, he didn't die to a bunch of teenagers. He was dominated by 21+, a moogle, and a yeti.

Wait, do we still need that last random teenager? Or did Hoch, the loner antihero guy already save the day? Most epic thing ever.

The battle surrounds us, and we fight thus; Explosions around, death abound, we never leave the war, there is something we fight for... FF6 was truly epic.
I want to know why I hads a quite detailed dream concerning Danni-chan (Not huey, the human one) in the real world.
Then I dreamed also about how I was going to explain it to her.
Quite strange.
It was humorous. ...We are conquerors and warriors all; we will not rest until our enemies fall. Skilled and steadfast, learned from conflicts past. We are bred, born, and die for war. "For Mandalore!"

@Shiva: Interesting... at least you remember your dreams. I'm lucky if I remember a moment of mine. *shrug*
@Rhys: I like Baten Kaitos, I really do, but the Zosma Tower needs to die. Also, the puzzle on the 2nd basement floor is broken for me or something, and even though I'm completing it exactly as a FAQ instructs, I can't complete it and so I'm stuck. DX"

@Kuusho Rei: Because I am a MODERATOR, and I am the new Post Edit Abuse Mod Pegasus! >8D
@Oscar: You can be the NPC who occasionally joins us, if Shiva is in fact the 4th teenager. :3
@Shiva: Whoa, that's kind of weird! Tell me about it! What did I look like? What did you say?
(and I've never played Baten Kaitos..)

Maybe not epic, but it's so cool it doesn't need to be.I had some difficulty with Zosma Tower, but not too much. I think it just takes a little work. Besides, it's nice to have some challenging puzzles in a game for a change. Most of them are easy enough for me now. I think once I'm done with Paper Mario: TTYD I'm gonna try for Baten Kaitos again. I think I'm still in Moonguile Forest from the last time I started replaying... Actually, I had a weird dream last night myself, only it involved a ReDead coming to see if other people were out of their houses, but they kept getting away from it at the last second and it looked disappointed. I think I also remember Mia gesturing at a tank of fish with sharp teeth and looking happy... I think she might've been looking for people to throw into it... Yeah, kind of a nightmare, but kind of not. I dunno, the nightmares I get tend to be the ones that look scary, but if turned into a movie would just look really really weird.

I think I need to check the FAQ again. The way the puzzle is messing up doesn't fit with how the FAQ described (last time I checked) to solve it. x.x
