Lucid watched her intently, trying to figure her out. He was having trouble with this though, which was slightly unusual.
"But you what?" he prodded when she paused. "I have no worries about my safety. I can handle a few hunters."

"I didn't want to have to leave." she whispered, lowering her gaze once more to hide the tears in them. She didn't want to cry, she wouldn't cry, she told herself. Not in front of him. Biting her lower lip, Lyra fought the tears. No, she hadn't wanted to leave, she still didn't...she was becoming fond of the Haven and the people in it. They had all been so kind to her and all she had done was bring chaos into their lives.

Lucid shook his head.
"I would never make you leave knowing that the outside world is no longer safe for you. This place is a Haven for those that seek refuge from hunters and the like." he said quietly. "I gave you my word that you would be safe as long as you were here, I mean to keep it. Besides, I'm too deep into this to give up now."

Raising her gaze to meet his once more, she managed a slight smile and gestured outside, away from the Haven.
"They're waiting fro me aren't they?" she asked quietly, rubbing briefly at each eye to ensure her tears were gone.

Lucid studied her face, not able to find it in himself to lie.
"Yes." he said. "They are waiting for you at the edge of the Forest. Which is exactly why you cannot leave." He added the last bit only because it was a good reason and he found that thinking of her leaving put a wrench in his gut.

Laughing a little, Lyra raised her head, her brown eyes meeting his.
"Even if I did it wouldn't matter much...they wouldn't hurt me really." she rubbed her hands up and down her arms, feeling the cold but not heeding it. She didn't want to leave Lucid's company. She thought it funny that she always felt safest with him, as he was the only one who was capable of scaring her half to death.
"It everyone here I worry about...and you." she broke off and shook her head.
"If they attack here looking for me, you should just hand me over okay. I'll be alright, I promise, but they won't think anything of killing everyone else here." she added, hoping to get her point across.

Lucid smiled again.
"You honestly think I'm in danger here?" he asked. "No, those hunters won't dare to venture into the Plains any further then they have to. They're too afraid of what I might do to them." He said it with a malice that could rival that of any angry demon. "No one gets to the Haven if I chose for them not to. The people here are in no danger, that I can promise you."

Hearing the malice in his voice, Lyra shivered and for once thought that maybe she was right to fear the man that stood so calmly before her.
"Well...that's comforting, I guess I won't worry too much then." she answered softly and wondered at what to say next.
"Oh...you never did tell me if there was anything I could do to help..you know with all of this." she reminded him. She wanted to help, in any way that she could. It seemed wrong somehow that she just hang around in his home and not do a single thing to try and help when he was going to so much trouble on her behalf.

Lucid thought about it for a moment, then decided there really wasn't much she could do.
"The only thing you could help me with if figuring out what exactly you are..or who would be after you." he said. "Those are the two most important things right now."

Lyra frowned in thought and bit her lower lip lightly in agitation. Deep in thought, she winced when she felt a sharp pain on her lip and tasted blood. Mentally cursing, she reached up and gently touched the small cut that was on her lip from where she'd bitten through. Running her tongue over her lower lip in an absent habit, she shrugged.
"Well...they took my blood a lot. They were always testing it's affects on various things. I know my blood is hard to find and it was said that it could do all sorts of things. They were asking me about it as a child. They weren't very happy that I didn't know anything really. They had told me they'd have to find out on their own. Someone came in to take my blood a least three or four times daily." Her eyes grew dark with fear and pain at the memory.
"They even had someone like you come in once...who lives off blood. He took mine too...a lot over the course of several days. He's been the one to find me and bring me back several times. But the affects my blood had on him were interesting so they said, and he kept taking it to study the affects it had. That probably doesn't really help you any huh?" she asked, realizing she was just babbling out random things she remembered.

Lucid listened to Lyra talk, his mind wrapping around each thing she said. He frowned when she told him that a man had taken her blood.
"They allowed a vampire to drink from you?" he asked quietly. "Did anyone ever happen to mention what race you were while they were around you?"

"I suppose that's what he was, though I changed him somehow..." she broke off shaking her head. "Not that I can remember, I don't even remember my parents very well. I've been with them since I was about three or four years old. They used to ask me questions..." looking thoughtful she struggled to remember their wording.
"Things like...how quickly do you heal, why does your blood change colors? I didn't know it did, but apparently it does. That man who took my blood is linked to me somehow...I feel him in my head at times. I made him stronger, increased his immunity to things, gave him more powers, increased the strength of the powers he has." she sighed softly, trying to remember the other effects.
"There was a downside too though...after drinking so much from me..he didn't want to feed anymore, any food was repulsive, he grew even more sensitive to any kind of light, even just the bright lights of the building. They had to be dimmed for him. Things like that...but they suspected that was somehow my doing. Because I've let one person feed from me before to save their life, she was kind to me. She didn't suffer from any of the bad side effects, though they were questioning why she lived because by all they could do she was dead..." she shrugged. Looking up at him, Lyra tried a small smile.
"None of this is really helping you is it?" she asked softly.

Lucid sighed, trying to piece things together. In truth, he wasn't sure of anything at the moment other than he had to keep her safe. He had seen first hand what one hungry vampire could do to a single person. It the vampire didn't decide to end your life, the blood loss would.
"When you say 'them', who are you talking about?" he asked. "Did you ever see 'them'?"

"Yes of course...the one who look after me, punish me...so forth and so on. There are four of them, all male, and they never told me their names. But yes, I know exactly what they look like." Lyra answered him carefully, hoping that in her memory she would find something useful, something that could help him learn what she was. She would like to know...
"As a matter of fact they were always so careful never to tell me what I was, or to say anything to revealing in front of me. I know what i am has something to do with my birth mark though." she brushed her fingers across the odd colored mark that adorned her forehead.

Lucid frowned, leaning forward to look at her birthmark. With a soft grunt, he leaned back in his chair once more.
"Odd place for a birthmark." he commented, thinking. He'd heard of a creature once when he was but a child, a mere fledgling. This creature could disguise it's self as a human to walk freely among those it protected. They were told to be so rare that only two were ever in the world at the same time.These creatures had great powers, like the power to keep a man alive even if her was a shake away from death. It was said that they went extinct while he had still been a child, and the people who still believed in this creatures power had mourned their passing. His frown deepened slightly and he rose from his chair, striding to the door. "I must go research something and speak with Seth." He paused at the door and turned to look at her. "Please do not leave the castle without me to escort you." he said quietly and with that, he turned back and disappeared through the door.
